Kosciusko (pronounced kozzy-os-ko but affectionatly known as "Kossy") is an Australian outback RPG based on the Silver Brumby by Elyne Mitchell. Primarily a brumby (feral horse) RPG you can also play any other Australian wildlife! You're also allowed a limited number of men with their domestic animals.
We're based on the idea of the Silver Brumby series but we provide all the information you need to play. We do not support canon characters here, we're set after their stories, but their legends live on and they are often mentioned.
New members, check out the rules before joining a character. We'll see you in the outback!
29/10/09 -- Hah! Spot the difference ^_^ Hope you like the new skin guys, let me know if you spot any bugs =)
22/06/09 -- Again, the rules got a bit of an update. This time it's the way fights work. No if a stallion has less than half of the points of the stallion they are challange, they will definitely lose. I've also updated the board descriptions a little as well as adding a few new boards, so speak up if you notice a typo! 04/02/09 -- Updated the rules a smidgen. Nothing major, just tidying them up and adding a few clarifications. Please re-read when you have a spare moment =) 24/01/09 -- Had a bit of an affiliates cleanout. If I've deleted your banner by accident and it has been active this year, then feel free to repost the request =) 23/01/09 -- I've tidied up a few of the administration boards! The "Order of the Outback" board has been updated and mixed around so you're welcome to have a look at that. I also reorganised the Character Creation boards, but I realised a little too late that any links to brumby or critter profiles will now be broken -- oops! You'll have to relink any of those, sorry for the inconvenience! 20/01/09 -- A bit of a few slow-news months!! Anyhow, hoping you're all liking the the new skin! I've added a bit of a feature as you can see to the right. Thats what the gang-gangs are gossiping about. If anything happened in the game that would become common knowledge, PM me (Tiggs) and I'll plonk it up there. 02/06/08 -- I've added a little to the rules under "Activity". I'm sure I had it written down before but apparently not! I've also cleaned out a few accounts and moved the inactive characters to the archive. 02/05/08 -- Tingara has taken the position of the King after the last ruler's disappearence! 10/03/08 -- Aleo is now King of the High Country! Congratulations! 03/03/08 -- Updated the rules on Breeding a little. Please vote in the poll in the OOC section =) 06/02/08 -- Kosciusko is BACK! I've reset all the boards and moved any profiles that were made previous to 2008 to an archieve. If you're a returning member, just copy the forms you've made and re-post them for acceptance.
Tingara the black stallion is King
of the High Country
OOC: That's fine. Your writing is cetainly better than anything I could do.
Warrigal dipped his head courteously to the eagle. "Thank you, friend." The buckskin trotted into the cave, stamping, snorting, and shaking to rid himself of the freezing snow that clung to his coat.
OOC: Sorry it's so short. Writer's block, I guess.
BIC: Warrah dipped her gratefully to the eagele in thanks as the bird invited them inside, she may be an optimist, but even she couldn't deny that it was getting dangerous outside. "Thank you, Wise Eagle," she said before slipping into the cave behind Warrigal. As the buckskin stallion shook himself to get rid of the snow that had come to coat his back, Warrah stepped forwards eagerly to touch nose with the new mare.
"Greetings, dear Pale One," she said sweetly, "I am Warrah, named for the honey suckle. May I ask of you your own name?" Her gaze was bright and friendly, not at all uncertain as she waited for the other's response. Never would she have imagined that what was causing AquilaDorado so much stress was Warrigal's and her own prescense, or she may not have gone so close to the cream coloured mare.
Guyra watched intently as the stallion and his mare entered the cave and thanked her. When the mare freely approached AquilaDorado without hesitation to touch noses with her in greeting, her stomach did a slight churn. She drew her wings in tightly against her body for warmth and sat very still, almost frightened for the first time in a while of what might be the outcome of the situation she had created. She knew the two horses planned on climbing the mountain, although she had hoped that the blizzard might have turned them away. 'It seems fate has brought them here though, and therefore it is about time that AquilaDorado should become acquainted with her own kind rather than the likes of an old eagle such as myself,' Guyra pondered. 'Let's just hope that she doesn't do something irrational, as I can never seem to fully understand what goes on in her mind and what actions she will make...'
Then the strange horse acknowledged AquilaDorado. "Greetings, dear Pale One. I am Warrah, named for the honey suckle. May I ask of you your own name?" The mare spoke gently, and did not look to be a horse of a threatening nature, so Guyra sent a silent prayer to the heavens that what would come next would be pleasant - for she figured the shaking pile of cream-colored fur huddled at the back of the cave was bound to leave at a blinding speed any second. But instead she was surprised to hear a soft but guarded voice echo off the cave walls.
As the Smokey-Cream mare arched her neck and positioned herself in a sturdy stance, she curiously eyed-up the stallion and his mare as she answered "I am known as AquilaDorado, named after nothing but my parents. Greetings to you, Warrah, and your stallion."
Warrigal stepped forward slowly, not wanting to scare the pretty mare. "Greetings, AquilaDorando," he whickered softly to the pale-coated mare. "I am Warrigal. I hope you do not mind us resting here until it has stopped snowing."

Warrah was pleased at the cream mare's response, and nodding once to her, turned to nuzzle Warrigal as he approached. The buckskin stallion stopped beside her, and gently she reached to groom his withers. She kept one ear tuned to the smokey cream, awaiting her reponse, though the mare was not tense in any way. In fact her right hind was cocked in a position of rest, and the lines of her body were quite relaxed even as the storm continued to rage outside.

OOC: And it did it AGAIN!! So basically this is the third and crappiest attempt
OOC: NOOO! I totally just wrote up a whole reply and then the stupid internet connection sputtered out when I went to go post it TRAGEDY. So this one isn't as good but it'll have to do.
She watched the pair, the love and obvious gentleness they showed each other and something inside of the Smokey Cream mare pained her. How she longed for such feelings, for others to make her feel like she belonged. Yet sadly she still felt she didn't. With a deep, raspy breath she looked up at Guyra, making sure to portray the way she felt in her eyes, though the wise eagle did not need this clue to come to a conclusion.
Guyra closed her eyes for a moment, picturing the storm outside and what was supposed to be peace inside, and answered the stallion Warrigal. "Do not feel the need to concern yourselves with our minds. Of course you are more than welcome to rest here in shelter of the storm." She spoke with authority, but the twinkle in her eyes and the curve of her beak at that moment gave off the impression of a smile. "Now, let us all rest our aching bones before the weariness that seeks to overcome us becomes unbearable! Goodnight, Little One, and to both Warrah and Warrigal - may the stars watch over you all and bless you with splendid dreams."
When the eagle was finished with her blessings, AquilaDorado watched the other horses retreat further into the cave - as content as they could be. That all-knowing voice whispered to her, and she twisted an ear to become informed of the plans they were to follow. "You must sleep now, Little One, for your body is too weak and the storm too strong. At the first light of dawn, I will wake you and we will carefully depart in silence; careful not to wake them. I'm sorry, AquilaDorado, perhaps another time..." Guyra gazed fondly at the little mare, and when she didn't receive an answer, prompted her further. "Are you in agreement?" The pale mare nodded solemnly, and then she too retreated partways into the blackness of the cave.
Before she knew it, AquilaDorado drifted off to sleep. All too soon, Guyra was at her side and beckoning for her to follow. They quietly crept out into the pale sunlight of the morning, and started the steep descent of Mount. Kosciusko without a complaint. AquilaDorado pondered where they were to go next, on their journey to discover who she was, until Guyra broke the silence. "Spring is fast approaching." The Smokey Cream mare perked up at the sound of those words, for she too knew the truth in them. She felt the gentle hand of spring attempting to grasp the frozen ground beneath her feet, and just the recollection of past springs brought purpose into her stride. She continued to ponder as the sun rose into plain view and breathed warmth onto her skin; she thought about Warrigal, and Warrah of the honey suckle, and their love, and the foals that would soon be born to the herds and how they would frolic in the new found joys of spring. "Guyra, may we stop by the foaling grounds? Before we proceed to wherever else you had in mind, I mean?" The eagle gazed affectionately at the curious little mare beneath her, and glided ahead to lead the way. "Of course, dear one, of course." So the horse and the eagle changed their course, slowly disappearing into the mist on the mountainside, while the rest of the land lay in a peaceful slumber.
OOC: So I basically tried to cut this off, as it is past winter now lol.... yeah Feel free to add though, as it's always enlightening to hear the views of Warrah and Warrigal! Haha I just probably won't answer, but have at 'er
