Mt. Kosciusko - 1 Viewing The highest point in Australia, Mt. Kosciusko is a gentle mountain in summer, dotted with snow on colder days and open for grazing with Lake Cootapatamba nestled not far below its peak. During the winter months however, the mountain is deep with snow and near impassible but for the descendants of Thowra himself. |

The Ramsheads The infamous place of Thowra's birth, the Ramsheads are high, rocky, and full of nooks and crannies in which to lose any would-be pursuer. Although not great for grazing, this place is perfect for the adventurous sort |

Crackenback River - 1 Viewing Fed by Dead Horse Creek and other streams from the Ramsheads, the Crackenback heads East through the deeper country. Its valley is the main travel route to reach the Bogong. It is one of the largest and fiercest rivers, and can be almost uncrossable during the fresh snowmelt.. |

Paddy Rush's Bogong These wide open rolling meadows are a haven for many herds, situated on a high plateau to the East of the Brindle Bull. The grazing is good, if you don't mind sharing the view! |

Thowra's Secret Valley Nested to the East of Paddy Rush's Bogong is a small luscious valley that can only be entered from a treacherous path down the valley's rocky side. |

The Big Boggy This wide valley is fed with so many streams and tributaries that is becomes a swamp in spring and early summer. Brumbies and men alike must be careful when the ground is wet, as the ground can be deadly |

Moyungal River Perhaps the most dreaded place in the High Country. There are little to no signs of brumbies living in this area, but don't let that fool you; it is the home of the infamous Nightrunners. This river's valley is steep-sided with a swampy perpetually misty basin. The river carving out the bottom of the valley is bordered with a dense forest of old gnarled mountain ash and tea tree. Only the brave or foolish venture here. |

Dead Horse Gap This is one of the best grazing grounds in the High Country. The problem is, the men know that too, and during the warm months their cattle can be found strewn across the whole valley. Brumbies beware! |

The Lonely Maiden by misticwinterstar Jan 5, 2012 11:54:43 GMT |
|
Dead Horse Hut This hut is a hub for wranglers and cattle drivers during the warm seasons, and every brumby with a pinch of sense stays far away! The hut itself is in good repair, and can house up to ten men comfortably if they don't mind sharing rooms! |

A legendary catch by Corowa Dec 3, 2012 21:12:50 GMT |
|
Dead Horse Creek The creek is frequented by man and their cattle, and runs quite close to their hut. Only the most daring brumbies stray this close in the warm seasons. |

Dead Horse Ridge - 1 Viewing Despite the name, this ridge is a relatively safe place to graze, with views out over the man's valley - Dead Horse Gap - but just remember, if you can see them, they might see you! |

Yarraman's Valley Once home to the legendary Yarraman, this valley is the most prestigious home for any brumby herd with a stallion that can hold it! Usually the King himself grazes here. |

Cascade Creek Usually a docile river in summer and autumn, and downright sluggish in winter, the Cascade Creek gets its name for the raging torrent it becomes in spring. Winding through the South West of the High Country, it passes by the end of Yarraman's Valley, and continues southward. Fed by many tributaries, this river is what gives this part of the High Country it's name, "The Cascades". On its bank further South stands the charred remains of a man's hut, burnt down in the bushfire and not yet rebuilt. |

The Brolga's Country So named for the late great grey stallion - The Brolga - this country is home to a great many herds. It is a favoured grazing spot in winter, so competition is fierce. High prestige is given to the stallion who holds this land and keep away the other stallions who would have it. |
