O o C ; This is intended for Yaruka, but if any lone mares would like to come meet Iolo, then feel free to join It's a little meep toward the end, I was unsure of what to put :3
Spring was beginning to set into the High Country now, in proper style. All the inhabbitants seemed to be enjoying the extra hours of sun, and the flourish in plantlife and food was to be for everybody's benefit. Sadly, like every good thing, something bad seemed to follow. Man was back in the High Country too, and was acting as if the massive brumby drive of last season hadn't happened. The sun was high in the sky today, shining brightly above Mount Kosciusko, blazing down upon the land, unconcerned it seemed that it would be scorching the land if the weather stayed like this. Thankfully for the creatures that were roaming the Big Boggy that day, the trees that surrounded it were providing much needed shade, as well as cover from man.
Hovering along the edges of the trees was a blue roan colt, and a little chestnut filly. He picked his way through the trees without making much of a sound, following the rules of the bush like many of the other horses. He wanted to stay in the shade - to stop the sun burning him and his dark coat - but if Oolah, his companion, wanted to venture into the sun, then that'd be fine with him. Iolo smiled as his blue eyes flickerd around him, before settling on Oolah. It was weird for him to think that it had only been the winter before that he'd found her, and asked if she'd like to run with him. Much to the shy guys surprise, she'd agreed.
Iolo pulled up his tail proudly, letting it flow behind him like a banner on a small breeze. "It's lovely out here today, Oolah, don't you think?" He asked, letting out a joyous whinny for anyone in the vicinity to join him. "What do you want to do then, my dear? It's a lovely day, and I'm all out of ideas." He said, a cheeky glint in his eye. He was in the mood for having fun and just messing about, but he wondered what his friend would think of his immature side. He continued to smile as he trotted happily in between the trees, looking toward Oolah with a friendly smile. She was his mate, but also his best friend. And he loved her for that more than anything.

OOC: hey Koiji, I think it's still Spring BIC: The little red mare, so pale she was almost a peach colour, followed after the blue roan stallion, stepping cautiously as was her habit. In her half year with Iolo she had begun to come out of her shell a little, forming a tight bond with the young stallion. Now three, she had matured from filly to young mare, and had only become prettier in her modest way. She had filled out, no longer as skinny as she had been when Iolo had found her, though her build was still slim. And for the first time her gait was sprightly, unshadowed by doubt and fear. Sure, she was still cautious, but no longer terrified of her own shadow. Iolo stopped and turned to her, "What do you want to do then, my dear? It's a lovely day, and I'm all out of ideas." he asked. Oolah tossed her head, noting the mischievous glint in her friend's eyes. "Oh I don't know," she said, a false note of nonchalance in her voice, "Shall we take a nap?" She pretended to settle herself in the cool shade of the trees, yawning affectedly and closing her eyes.

Eira was running. She enjoyed nothing so much as a good gallop. She jumped over a small, swampy pool and kept going, her tail streaming out behind her. She came to an abrupt halt in the middle of the clearing, a few inches away from the little herd. The silver filly neighed, "Oh, I'm sorry for nearly running into you, I really am..."

O o C ;Whoops, sorry =3 -edits- it now says spring I need to read the tables more often xD
Iolo laughed at his friend's reaction, knowing that she couldn't possibly want to sleep. Not really, on a lovely day like this. He pouted, and shook his head smiling fondly as he watched her settle on the ground and pretend to snore. He laughed in a sarcastic yet good natured way before asking ; "Are you sure? Well, if you really think a naps a good idea..." Iolo's little glint in his eye staying firmly put. He was about to lower himself to the ground when he heard the unmistakable pounding of hooves on the Big Boggy. His roan ears pricked and his head rose, lookng for any sign of another horse. A couple of moments later, a silver filly burst into the clearing, and upon spotting them, stopped and appologized for intruding. "No, not at all." Iolo responded, flashing her a grin.
Since he and Oolah had began to run together, both of them had seemed to stop being quite so shy. Both of them were of a naturally shy disposition, and it had taken them both a while to open up to one another. But now Iolo felt rather confident and happy as he addressed the filly, unlike the other times where he'd stuttered and done other things that made him cringe. "I'm Iolo, and this is my friend Oolah." He said, a flush of pride in his voice as he spoke Oolah's name. He was so glad such a beautiful filly was his. He wouldn't mind adding the silver filly in front of him to his group, but that depended on whether or not she wanted to come with him. He wasn't quite sure of what to say next, so he paused, and waited for the filly to introduce herself.

Eira nodded in a friendly manner at both. "Pleased to meet you. I'm Eira." She nickered whith a shy smile. She surpriesed herself; normally, in this situation, she would gabble a hastly apology, and dash away. But maybe some of her timidness had gone? She asked herself. She looked at them both, and wondered what to do now. She wanted to join his herd, and it was wonderful to not have more than one stallion or colt around, but she wasn't sure what to say.

As Iolo made to lower himself to the ground, Oolah reached up and gave him a playful nip on his neck, springing to her feet as she did so. She shook once and was about to bound off, inviting him to join in a game of chase, when she noticed the other mare. No, not at all said Iolo in response to the mare's question, before introducing both of them. Oolah ducked her head shyly and retreated to stand behind the stallion, peering at the silver mare over his speckled blue back with a wary look in her eye. For so long now it had only been Iolo and herself, and before that just her alone. The pale red dun had quite forgotten what it was like to interact with other horses, and she was nervous.

Iolo noticed Oolah spring to her feet as he was about to lower himself to the ground, and whinnied to her, a laugh errupting from his chest. He shook his head and said ; "Oh Oolah, you're such a tease." before nuzzling his friend afectionately to make sure she knew he was joking. He went back to looking at the other mare, and noticed that Oolah was now lurking behind him. He nuzzled her agian, knowing from experience that she was going to be shy for a while. After all, it had only been the two of them for a good few seasons. He smiled again at the other brumby - who had now proclaimed herself Eira - and smiled as he greeted her properly. "It's nice to meet you too, Eira." His miss-matched gaze flickered around the clearing for a moment as the blue roan struggled for something to say. 'So much for not being shy anymore...' he thought to himself as he tried to think of something. In the end he settled with a question that wasn't too personal, and wasn't too forward. "Umm... If you don't mind me asking, Eira, ermm... What brings you here today?" He turned his head quickly to face Oolah, and nuzzled her in an attempt to not only calm her down, but also himself. He didn't want Eira to think he was a gushing idiot. But then again, he'd thought that Oolah had thought that about him at first, but it turned out that she didn't. Now the pair were the best of friends, and nothing could come between them. He smiled happily at Eira, hoping that she'd think he was more confident than he actually was.

"Umm... If you don't mind me asking, Eira, ermm... What brings you here today?"Eira, inside herself, wanted to laugh at the situation. All three of them were nervous. All three of them were not used to much company. Doing her best to control herself, the silver filly stuttered, "Oh,er, I was just, um, having a gallop. I love feeling the wind rush past me, you know..." Oh, great, now they'll both think I'm a gibbering idiot. She smiled at Iolo, hoping desperatly he and his friend wouldn't think she normally acted like this when in the company of others.

OOC: lol, this thread could take a while none of them are very articulate xD BIC: Oolah watched the conversation silently, grateful to Iolo when he turned to nuzzle her gently. Peering through her long, russet coloured forelock she watched the silver mare, who also seemed quite shy. She was beautiful though, Iolo certainly seemed to like her, and suddenly the red dun filly felt an uncharacteristic pang of jealousy. What if Iolo preferred this silver mare to her, a plain average red coloured horse? She could not bear to lose the closeness she had formed with the blue stallion. But Oolah was not a spiteful mare. Instead of trying to antaganize the other, she showed no sign of resentment,no expression at all save for the gleam of concern in her soft brown eyes.

O o C ;Lols, sounds like it XD Aw, Oolah in that post is adorable =3 aw, and bless Eira
Iolo smiled, at least he wasn't the only one who was was getting tongue tied. Eira answered his question with her own stuttery responce, and Oolah seemed to withdraw behind him a little more. Iolo wondered if she was getting a little jelous of Eira. Sure, he liked her, a lot. She'd be a wonderful prize for any stallion in his right mind, but he didn't want Oolah to feel left out. The strawberry roan would always be his faveourite, no matter what happened. The pair had been through too much together to be anything but best friends. Pulling his head back down from the clouds - so to speak - he looked back over at the snowy filly and grinned sheepishly. "Galloping, eh? Th-that's good. We like a good gallop now and then, don't we, Oolah?" He said, turning to nudge Oolah with his nose gently. He smiled softly at his friend before whispering, "Don't be worried Oolah, I sure we'll all get on very well." He nuzzled her again to reassure her, and then turned his attentions back to the silver filly. Iolo paused for a moment, having to think of some line that he woud be able to say confidently and without cringing. Nothing came to mind, so he stayed silent, just smiling at Eira.
