Well, Brael was suitably convinced. The stallions in the Moyangul Valley had been adept protectors, and none of them had ever lied to her that she knew of, so it wasn’t a huge leap of the imagination for her to think Nevada would be much different. Safety sounded nice. Besides, he was white! She’d seen some funky colours from observing herds from afar on their way up, but not one so white before, like the moon himself. It was shiny.
”Nah, I like him,” she said amusedly, with her hint of usual bossiness. Ria wouldn’t go anywhere without her, no, Ria always followed.

Ria rounded on Brael and glared at her. What? She liked this wimp? What was going on here? She thought Brael had better taste than that. "What? You want to set up with this 'Nevada'?" She scoffed at her half-sister, "don't make me laugh! He is less than worthy for the likes of us! I'm going to leave, Brael." She had no idea whether Brael would actually consent to leaving, for she had never really left her before. But Ria decided it was time to make a stand, mostly so that her dignity would remain intact.

Nevada looked between the two. So he was winning one while losing the other? Since when were mares indirectly proportional? "Wait Ria, there's no need to leave. Tell me what I can do to prove that I'm... worthy." Trial by fire, most likely. Nevada knew he wasn't exactly capable of doing much impressive. But he had to try. He reached out his muzzle, brushing Brael's withers and trying to enforce her growing likeness of him. If he couldn't heave both, he was going to at least hold onto one.

Brael pointed her ears backwards in alarm. What? Ria threatening to go? That couldn’t be right! SHE was the one that didn’t want a stallion! Well, until now anyway, funny how opinions can change when faced with the real thing. ”But... I want you to stay,” she managed to splutter pathetically, without even feeling Nevada nosing her shoulder.

Ria stamped her right forefoot in the way a spoiled 8 year old would want their sibling's new toy. Brael wanted to stay? Well, tough luck. Ria didn't and for a change, she was going to make sure she got her own way. The lighter colored moonfilly probably didn't realise that she was being stubborn just for the sake of it, and not because she really wished to leave.
"I can't just stay here because you want me to!" Ria snorted, "Im not lumping myself with the first stallion we meet. Im not going with anyone until I see more of the high country first."
She turned and lifted her tail (banner lol) for effect, walking - albeit rather slowly - away.

Obviously not part of Ria's world, Nevada found himself completely ignored, as if he didn't even exist. It was an odd feeling. At least he'd managed to get through to Brael. Unable to find anything to say that Ria might listen to, Nevada reached to put his head in front of Brael's chest to stop her from following. "I'm sorry Ria doesn't want to stay, I guess she's not willing to give me a chance. Please stay, she'll come around eventually. Would she really leave you?" He asked, hoping that same stubbornness that had driven Ria away would stop Brael from following after her.

Feeling a momentary annoyance at having her path through to Ria blocked, she tried to sidestep just as he started talking, and her pace quickly slacked to nothing. ”Hang on, you’re right,” she replied, as though coming to a sudden understanding. Pointedly, she turned around and walked back to Nevada, equally as slow as Ria, then glanced back to see if the lighter mare would give up and follow.

Ria found herself overflowing with complete anger. Brael was agreeing with this idiot?! Now she was even more determined to leave her. Brael and Ria had spent most of their life together, but Ria was prepared to throw that away on a stupid misunderstanding. Brael's misunderstanding, not Ria's. She turned back and broke into a full gallop, not bothering to look back and see whether her half-sister was concerned or not.

Nevada nickered to Brael, hoping to discourage her further from chasing after her sister. "She'll be back." He assured her, although he wasn't sure if she would be. She's more likely get lost that return here. "Graze with me 'til nightfall, then we'll find a place to sleep." He backed up a little, enticing her to follow as he returned to Mica.
He nuzzled his first mare, lipping at her forelock. He gestured to Brael, and then dropped his head to graze.

Brael wasn't looking to convinced, but she didn't fancy chasing blindly after her half sister either. Instead she just lingered around for a while looking utterly lost, dropping her nose to eat, changing her mind and standing around a bit looked, side stepping nearer to Nevada, then further away, and so on continuously. Ria wasn't supposed to leave!
Eventually her sense of surprise was turning into annoyance and by the time she finally recooperated enough to eat, she was fixing Nevada with a dirty look that very distinctly said 'you had so better be worth this'.
