The big spotted brute was clearly unsure of how to beat him, and Jirrand could she that he was winning. This gave him further confidence to land blows with more certainty, to dodge and duck like he was the most experienced of stallions though he was not.
He got a particularly good hit on the other’s shoulder, and he saw skin tear away from a nasty looking gash. Surely the end of the fight was near! But what he had not expected was such swift retaliation, and a swift kick caught him in the chest – winding him. Staggering back a few steps and taking a great gulp of air to steady himself, he charged off after the fleeing stallion throwing a victorious call after him. He really was only chasing him to give the pretense of driving him away although the other horse was doing a fine job of leaving on his own.
Jirrand squealed angrily as the spotted stallion passed by his mares, and came to a sliding stop beside them to let loose one last call after his beaten opponent, with a clear message that he should not return to bother his mares ever again.
Turning back to his herd victorious, he trotted over to his distressed mares. Unable to help himself, his neck was arched proudly and his steps were floating as his body was still pumped with adrenaline. He would likely be rather stiff tomorrow, not to mention bruised and sore. The other stallion had not caused much visual damage other than a lathered coat, but he would be feeling the effects of the fight for a few days at least.
He snuffled at poor Kalari who probably had the more nervous disposition of them all, and then dear sweet Karween and Nilee. All mares seemed to react differently to fights, and he did not want his beloved mares concerned by the big blue roan any longer.

Koonaka flicked his ears irritably as the stallion's call echoed after him-what a melodromatic show-off. He wasn't terribly hurt, though his pride was bruised, but he was pretty sure that the nasty gash on his shoulder would stiffen up if he didn't keep moving tonight. Disappearing into the brush he felt safe enough to drop down to a choppy walk. He was fairly certain the silver horse wasn't a murderer and, at any rate, he expected the brute would want to save his energy to fend off any other opponents. These were Koonaka's only thoughts as he took his leave, he wasn't even sorry not to have won himself any company by accident, pretty sad really as all the blue appaloosa had to look forward to was a night of aches and solitude. OOC: Gah-now *I* feel bad for Koonaka-I might have to go find him a companion lol Kalari had stood frozen throughout the entire fight, and when Jirrand finally came up victorious, a feet which took no more than ten minutes but had seemed an eternity to the palomino overo, her frail body shuddered with a sigh of relief. Her eyes were still rimmed white as the foul-tempered appaloosa passed her. She shied further from him, seeking comfort from the closeness of the other mares. Jirrand pranced over, touching her nose, and she anxiously rubbed her muzzle against his, closing her eyes and taking deep breaths to steady herself.
