The night passed reasonably quickly for the silver grey stallion. He was alone, as he had been for some time now, and he had been mulling over how he might have lost a chance to gain a friend. The young filly was long gone by now, and Ryu was pondering if he should make a attempt to go follow her scent. No, He thought. If she wanted company, she'd have stayed. It didn't to much to lighten his mood that was already quite gloomy.

When the first lights of day hit the glade that the elegant stallion had spent so many a day hidden in, off he went looking for good grass. Grazing the length of the river bank about twice, picking up on some of the more juicy streches of grass. He quite fancied he was being watched by something invisable... He couldn't make it out but there was something putting him a bit ill at ease. Maybe it was a man! His ears which had been flickering about for sign of danger pricked immeadtly and his head lifted. He quickly ate the remains of grass that was in his mouth, and peered into the trees intently. No, it wasn't man...

The rest of that day went off pretty much as they normally did for this paticular stallion. He was so bored! Spending the day not being bothered to move out of the valley that confined him certainly was a drag.

Yaruka stood in the trees again the next day, gazing nervously at the grey stallion. He really seemed alright, for a stallion at least. Once he looked up nervously, staring through the woods to where she was hidden. She held her breath and closed her eyes, and when she'd opened them he'd looked away again. She was getting quite adept at hiding. Finally, lonlyness weighing down on her spirit and her thirst driving her closer to the river she stepped forward, towards the edge of the trees, but still hidden.
Then, still wondering if she was making the right decision, she nickered quietly.

"That's great, just grrreeaatt!" He muttered to himself in annoyance, why did he seem to drive things away? He wasn't a bad stallion, (that he knew) and he didn't get why that little filly didn't want to be frineds with him. That's all he wanted really, a friend. Someone to speak to, and to keep him company. The small burst of anger left him and he went back to feeling sorry for himself, which made he feel like he was a piece of dirt. This truly was a loose/loose suituation.

He had just about given up hope that anyone would stay with him, when he heard a soft nicker behind him. Turning slowly round, so not to scare the animal behind him, he prayed that whoever this was wouldn't run away, he felt like an orgre or something. Once he had turned to face the newcomer, he realised that it was that filly. He smiled, a gentle smile that he would have used when he had foals, to comfort them when they were scared, come to think of it round about now, Koiji would have had hers... "I'm sorry if I scared you my dear, I assure you now, as in, you have my word, that I mean you no harm at all!" He thought it was quite a clever speech for himself, and he hoped that the filly would think better of running away from someone that meant her no harm in the least.

The stallion turned to look at her and Yaruka stood and listened nervously as he spoke. Her ears flickered back and forth, to catch his words and to listen to the forest behind her. She was still unfamiliar with this setting, and was unwilling to let her guard down even for the slightest moment. The stallion seemed kind though, and, deciding for once to take a chance, Yaruka stepped forward, one step closer to him, and extended her soft, quivering nose, cautiously in greeting, flaring her delicate nostrils to breathe in his scent.

Ryu was getting to be a little more pleased with himself, the filly seemed to be calming down a little bit, and he wanted to make her as at ease as he could. She hadn't spoke, and that didn't bother him, as long as she didn't run away, he was fine. Yaruka seemed to be torn between two things, it seemed as if she was unwilling to let her gaurd down, although she seemed to be desperate for some comfort, a safety net to fall back into. He cold offer her that, he wasn't interested in er in the way of her being his mare, he could 'adopt' her, make her feel like a filly of her age should, not nervous and cautious as she was now, but happy and confident with the Bush that they all lived in. Her quivering nose came out to meet his, and he stood still while she got a scent of him, he didn't want her to run. Once he was sure that she wasn't going to shy away from him when he did this, he gently touched her nose, whispering softly to her. "Don't worry little one, if a safe homes what you're after, then I can offer you that." He looked at her, into the deep brown eyes, trying to communicate that he really meant no harm.

Yaruka let out a shuddering breath as the stallion's nose made gentle contact with her own. He looked straight into her eyes and whispered sweetly to her in a manner that told her that he understood that she was only young, little more than a foal, and communicated that he'd be willing to protect her as his 'daughter'. Cautiously, she stepped forward and rubbed her cheek against his neck, accepting and thanking him without words. Then she stepped back and looked at him, waiting for what he'd do next.

The stalion felt quite proud of himself, seeing as the little filly seemed to have accepted him for someone who wasn't looking for her to join his herd in a way that other stallions did. Ryu knew, as he smiled at the filly, that he'd almost won her over, a couple more days, and maybe they might be talking... He smiled at the thought, tossing his mane lightly, a swift breeze blowing it back into the position he'd just shook it out of. Yaruka moved foward slowly, and rubbed her cheek against his neck. Being careful not to move too fast when she pulled away, he genlty nodded his head. He wasn't sure as of the moment what to do next, but it was unpolite of him to make her wait. "So, what's your name little one?"

[/i] He asked softly, staying a distance away from her that he knew she was comfortable with. "I'm Ryu, nice to meet you." His gentlemanly smile stayed in place across his mouth, showing her that she was safe as long as she wanted it with him.[/center][/font]

BIC: Yaruka stared intently at the stallion until he spoke again, "What's your name little one?" he asked. He introduced himself as Ryu, and, having decided she could trust him, she replied "My name is Yaruka," she said "I am named for the light". As she spoke a ray of sunlight hit her chesnut coat and turned her mane to molten silver and gold, her body copper. She seemed almost to glow in the sunlight, as if she was indeed a part of its light brought to life.

Once the filly had finally introduced herself, the stallion's grin was completely evident on his face. As she spoke her name, and how it meant "light" a shaft of sunlight hit her coat, setting the glorious chestnut colour alight. Ryu's warm smile stayed in place. "Nice to meet you Yaruka, well, when the light hit's your coat you can certainly see why!"

[/b] He wanted to ask her what she would like to do, but she might assume that he was getting at something else. He opened his mouth once and closed it again, as if miming a goldfish. He figured that it would be best to ask her would she like to go find someplace to graze. So he did. "So, Yaruka, would you like to go find some better grazing grounds?"[/b] He asked in a light and airy manner. Smile and you can say anything.[/center]

Yaruka watched the stallion slightly cautiously, waiting for his next move. He opened his mouth as if to talk, then closed it again and Yaruka stared at him, her head tilted slightly to one side, puzzled. Finally he got out the words and Yaruka just nodded, shyly and a bit nervously. She knew that she was pretty safe when in the company of the large grey stallion but she was still nervous at the thought of changing locations.
