Nandalie snorted when Pirri came into view. Another colt, just what the doctor ordered! He rolled his eyes. Like he'd take her in now. The red roan had realised what would happen if he took in Miah.
1. She had a chest problem, that would slow them down 2. She only came out at night, that would be very irritating 3. She had a broken hoof, that also would slow them down 4. Albinos attract a lot of attention
The young stallion had decided a while ago that she might not be worth it. "You can have her," he finally growled at Pirii. Miah didn't really look like she wanted a herd, but maybe she might with Pirri. Flicking his tail, he yawned. Stupid mare, he thought, keeping me up late and dragging me around. He turned around and headed back into the depths of night from which the stallion had come from.

Pirri was grumbling to himself when he realised the strawberry roan had conceded defeat at his very presence. The white mare was right about the roan being too young, but Pirri was no colt. When the roan was out of earshot, Pirri jumped at the chance to impress this mare. She may be lamed and afflicted with some sort of illness that made her breathing a little rusty, but Pirri was a disadvantaged stallion. He was never crude, but he kept hold of whatever mares that came his way would stay with him.
"I apologise, my name is Pirri but I am not a colt. I am five years old; I am a fully grown stallion." The painted horse looked over at her. She didn't look all that bad, afflictions aside. "Please, do not be alarmed, I will not harm you. I wish to keep you company a while, you need to rest that foot. It will not heal if you insist on moving." He smiled politely and stepped toward her though it only made his size more obvious. "Tell me, what is your name, beautiful one?"

Tingara stepped silently through the trees, making sure to leave no sign or noise to betray his presence. His black coat rendered him invisible amongst the snowgums. Quietly he made his way to the river and stepped out of his cover to take a quick drink from the Crackenback. Soon voices reached his ears. He looked up and flickered his ears trying to figure out what direction the voices came from. Tingara headed intently in the direction from whence he thought the voices came. What he saw amazed him. A beautiful white mare,a fabled Night-runner, and a small colt looking horse. Once again he quietly stepped from cover, making sure not to make a sound. The moonlight gave his coat an unearthly glow.

He was a - ? Wow, okay, awkward. Miah shuffled with embarrassment at her mistake, but thankfully, he didn’t seem too put-out about it. Hmm, funny colour too, she’d seen quite a few different colours before, but no spots. Did spots mean something special like how the silver horses where always cream and white? It had to didn’t it? How many spotted horses could there possibly be?
”Miah, and I’m sorry about the-“ She wasn’t dropping her guard yet at any rate, and it was only because of that and her good darkness vision that she caught a moving flicker of darkness for a split second. Kangaroo? Didn’t move like one. Wombats were nocturnal right? Then again, that would have to be one big wombat. Her ears immediately went backwards and she took a worried step closer to Pirri subconsciously. It could be a mutant black horse-eating dingo! Who knew what was to be found out here?

Pirri dismissed her shocked expression at the revelation of his age. He' seen it too many times before for it to bother him much any longer. "Do not worry, Miah, I am used to it." She seemed distracted suddenly, and Pirri looked nonchalantly into the bush. There was nothing he could see. She was definitely a flighty one. "I don't think you have anything to worry about, my dear." He said, stepping up between her and the imagined danger to put her at ease.
"Please rest. I will stay and keep you safe." The small stallion huffed, gesturing for her to take a drink or graze, perhaps sleep. "You are certainly a rarity, are you not? I have never seen a pelt so white."

Miah wasn't exactly sure how Pirri planned to defeat a, well, normal size stallion, but it probably wasn't a smart idea to question a good thing. Maybe he could, er, keep a lookout or something, she wasn't entirely sure. Still, there was no need to get rid of him just for being a little on the tiny side.
”Um, thankyou,” she mumbled sheepishly, still feeling stupid. ”There’s a herd of us, but, I, er, sort of got lost...” Wow, now she definately looked stupid. She wasn't hungry, but in order to stop feeling akward she dropped her head to graze anyway, still watching the trees where the black shadow had been suspiciously.

Pirri hid a smile. "You were lost. Do not worry, Miah. That happens all the time in the High Country. That is how stallions find mares some of the time. It keeps the blood new, you see." He reached down and snatched a few mouthfuls of grass. He chewed a while before swallowing. "I think you should rest now. Do not fear, I will watch over you." The smaller horse bobbed his head, looking earnestly at the white mare.
