Alison shook her head exasperatedly at the foal's reaction, and lay the rope part of it down, already working on the straps so she could tie the halter on immediately once she had contact. Honestly, you'd think the filly would have grown out of it by now. "Come on, filly, it's not gonna strangle you, or bite you, or whatever else you're chickening out about," she snorted, glancing at her from the corner of her eyes with a wicked and smug grin. Would this work?

Birubi's eyes rolled back and she snorted fearfully. The rope moved like a snake, no it was a snake, in Alison's hand. Instinct took over and Birubi called to her mother to protect her, even though she knew Dilali wouldn't be coming to save her. Unexpectedly the woman dropped the rope and made her way slowly over with just the halter. Birubi was accustomed to the rough rope head piece so this would be no problem for the human, but Birubi's flightiness would be.

Alison scuffed dirt over the rope casually, and approached the filly from a side angle, letting her be in full view and not really seen as a threat. She let the halter brush the filly's skin, up her neck and onto her head, where the buckles were quickly done up and she stroked the soft head, cooing soothingly like a dove. Her hand held a few treats just below the small muzzle, and she made sure everything was clearly visible.
