Breeding
- Be nice. Treat others as you wish to be treated!
- No flaming or spam.
- No graphical or adult content. Keep swearing and excess violence to a minimum.
Activity
- After two weeks, inactive characters will be used as NPCs if they are in plots that need moving along.
- After four weeks of inactivity, accounts will be deactivated and the player's characters will be moved to the archive and mentioned as missing, presumed dead or captured in game.
- You can claim back your characters at any time, just repost their profiles in the Pending Profiles board.
- By creating a character, you agree to the above terms.
Accounts
- Its best if you just have one account for all your characters as it makes administration easier.
- You may have as many characters as you like on this account, providing you can keep their threads active.
- Signatures may not exceed 480x700 pixels. Anything larger will be down-sized automatically.
- Players should keep track of their stallion's herd in their signature.
Posting
- Please stick to default colours in posts, and sizes if possible; some of us have trouble reading certain colours or too-small text.
- You may use liquid time (posting in more than one place at once with a character), but it is advised that you do not exceed a maximum of three different topics.
- There is no minimum limit to posts, though one-liners are not encouraged.
- We are an all-level role-play, but please consider the other player while posting and make sure you give them something constructive to work with. It's unfair to leave them with nothing much to respond to.
- On the topic of posting styles, we'd like to mention that "flowery" language is just a little bit of a weird RP fashion. "Auds", "orbs", "nares", "pillars" and such are not correct horse terminology. Sometimes you can use some of these words in smilies eg. "His legs were like pistons", but if you start describing your "femora's nares" as such, some of us are just going to be imagining a shark's scent receptors on a leg bone (nares is a term for nostrils, but its generally scientific and used for fish, invertebrates and birds; its not usually used in creative writing).
Realism:
- Kossy aims to be as realistic as possible.
... Aside from the talking animals, of course.
- You should keep in mind when playing what species you have, as some actions may not be entirely normal for certain species. For example, brumbies aren't likely to go around killing humans or dingos for 'the fun of it' whereas a human might if they were deranged enough.
- The same goes for brumby coat colours. We are based on the Silver Brumby books so silver dapples, whites and pale palominos will be rare. All other coat colours should be real coat colors, found on real horses.

Communication
- All non-human animals can talk to each other, but humans cannot talk to other animals and vice-versa.
- Any communication between humans and other animals should be within the confines of realism (body language, etc). Eg. A horse will not play charades with a human to communicate their meaning, they will only respond with rational and appropriate behaviour for their species.
Character Creation
- To create a character, head over to the Pending Profiles board and read the Animal Profile Form thread or if you are making a human character, read the Human and Tame Animal Profile Form .
- Remember that Kosciusko is supposed to be as realistic as possible, so outrageous histories for your characters are unlikely to be accepted.
- This is also stated in the Character Creation Form thread, but please take note that characters must have natural colouring. If it does not occur in real-life horses, physical flesh and blood creatures, your character cannot have that colouring.
- You should also be able to describe your horses colouring with a genetic genotype string, but don't worry, you can read more about those in the Colour Genetics Guide. This is a system we use to calculate the possible foal outcomes of a pairing! If you're unsure of your horse's genotypes, ask Tiggs or Illu for help.
Fighting/Hunting
- No power playing. You cannot dictate the actions of another character unless it has been approved by the characters player beforehand.
- Always inform a mod of fights and if a hunt is not against a NPC.
- Investigate this thread for more information on fights: Brumby Fights and Stats
Breeding
- For wild animals, breeding can only take place in the breeding season, shown in the Weather section on the sidebar.
- Humans and their domestic animals may breed at any time of year.
- Each player must post the stats of the parent they play in the "Breeding" board using the form provided.
- Staff will post the gender of the offspring when they are due.
- Staff may notify you of problems with births or the young decided by chance or in-game situations.
- You may play a "romance" thread to mark the occasion, but please no graphic breeding.
- For more information on gestation and offspring, please read the Breeding Info and Form thread.
