A queen, huh? Who did he think he was? Mr. Funny Guy?! Ria snorted irritably at his answer. Did he think she was stupid?! She stomped her right forehoof in a spoiled kind of way. "I'm sure everyone will be appreciative that their future King is a comedian." She said scathingly. She flicked her flaxen tail and turned to trot away. Maybe she will find Brael somewhere around the Range.

Well, about time! Brael was a useless tracker, who funnily enough thought herself as very adept despite her ‘tracking’ was primarily just walking around until she ran into who she was looking for. Ria’s smell carried to her when she reached the other side of the hill, so, with a huff of relief and ears back in annoyance she clambered up.
”Why’d you go get lost again?” she demanded, not even noticing Nevada for a moment. Actually, Brael had no idea who had lost who, but it was easier to blame Ria all the same. Since arriving north, Ria had been doing a lot of disappearing.
”Ooh, a stallion,” she said cheekily, trotting down, ears pricked and tail raised and looking sly. ”Is that why you’ve been running off?”

The mare seemed to lack his sardonic sense of humour. Unimpressed, she started to walk away. Snorting, Nevada used his best prancing gait to follow her. Before she'd even reached the path down, a second dark-bodied, light-manes mare appeared. Nevada whinnied, rearing and showing off. One pretty filly was a coincidence, two was just plain luck. He took it as a sign, a good sign, and resolved to himself he wouldn't let the pair go. One alone looked out of place, but the two together emphasised an exotic aura. He had to have them.
Landing back on four feet, he reared again, tossing his head and calling out to the pair. He was a young vigorous stallion and they were unclaimed mares. He wanted them to believe they needed him, want him. It was all very well that Aleo could attract mares like flies, but Nevada would build his herd with his own strengths, not a title. "My name is Nevada." He told them when he dropped to all fours. "Why don't you stay and graze a while with me. Or do you have some place to be?"
He smiled at the pair, mane falling cross one brown twinkling eye. He turned and trotted back to Mica, gesturing for the two mares to follow. He spotted a familiar mare on the other end of the highland plain, and his stomach lurched. Dilali.
Why was she here? Did she intend to lead Aleo a merry dance, or was she intent on teasing them both? He whinnied to her, enticing her over. If he was going to entertain company, he better do it before Aleo caught up with Dilali. He wondered if she knew she was slowly ruining his chance of gaining more mares. She seemed to lead Aleo right to him! Every time he'd seen her, Aleo had been hot on her trail. He'd leave now if it wasn't for the interesting pair of mares that had stumbled onto him.

Ria snorted deliberately and loudly at Nevada, striking a pose with one forehoof in the air. "Why would we want to hang around a smart alec like you?" She cussed, then whispered to Brael, "this guy thinks he is pretty hilarious." She flattened her ears and bared her teeth a little at Nevada, before nipping Brael, coaxing her to leave as well.

Brael was looking to Nevada, to Dilali, to Nevada again. It didn’t suit her that some plain little ordinary coloured little scrub filly was going to steal their thunder. She was planning to leave with Ria soon anyway, but first she wanted to make sure Nevada only thought of them, and not Dilali, afterwards.
”First, leave him with something he won’t forget,” she whispered with a sly look on her face, ”I want to mess with him,” then went down high stepping to meet Nevada , tossing her head then giving a loud, imperious neigh to distract his gaze. ”Invite us to join you then turn your back on us?” she challenged playfully. ”That’s not very polite.”

Dilali froze, she didn't know Nevada would be here. She looked at him, her blue eyes wide, as Nevada called out to her. She saw he wasn't alone either, she whinnied a friendly greeting to Nevada and the two other mares on the other end of the plain. Dilali's mind wrestled with the choice of going over there or not, she didn't know what to do. She decided to let Nevada talk to the strangely coloured mares, they were more interesting than she. Dilali forgot about dancing for awhile and dropped her head to graze.

Nevada glanced back to the second darker mare. He bobbed his head in apology. "I'm sorry -- I didn't realise she was here. Unexpected company makes me lose my manners." He pranced a little closer, determined to stop them from leaving. He'd woo them before Aleo came t steal them away, even if they were going to play hard to get. Dilali played the same game, but she wasn't as open about it, if she even knew.
Nevada decided to try a different tactic. "Wait, don't leave. I've never seen a pair as unique as you. I'd like to know your names so when I am King, I can seek you own for my own." He stepped forward, reaching out his nose to brush the darker mare's. He had a feeling she'd be the easiest to convince, and hopefully her lighter companion would follow where she led. "Stay a while, graze with me. The King might be here soon, looking for that mare. He won't resist a beautiful pair like you."

Ria nodded her head in approval of Nevada's apology. "Well... Yes. Why would you even look at an ugly pony like her when you have us two standing in front of you is beyond me, Nevada." She chided, "We are only fit for Kings, after all. Shame you aren't one, though." Ria might have been acting nasty, but she was starting to like the insistent stallion and his polite manners. She looked at Brael and wondered what she was thinking. She wasn't going to join any herd without her sister, though she doubted that any stallion wouldn't want the both of them.

Dilali looked over as she heard the strangely coloured mare's comments to Nevada. She snorted irritably and continued to look at the mares. Their colour interested Dilali a great deal but their vanity did not. "They are obviously conceded with their own beauty and love to destroy others' self-esteem," Dilali said to herself, she had to admit, her pride and confidence had been a little hurt. She shook out her mane, she was used to being called ugly but now something was different! What if Aleo was only pretending he wanted her for a joke, to get her hopes up? Stupid thoughts like these began to whiz around her head, if she told him she wanted to follow him to the ends of the earth, would he laugh and tell her no? "Dilali you're being stupid!" she hissed at herself. Dilali decided to show these mares what beauty on the inside was like and walked over. "Nice to see you again Nevada and nice to meet both of you strange coloured fillies," she said politely to the mob in front of her.

Brael was making a large effort not to stare down her nose at Dilali, to play the same game the grey was, but she couldn’t hide the fact she had no respect for the grey at all. Hopefully Nevada just wouldn’t notice. Instead, she flicked her main and tail again deliberately and tossed her head. ”You said the King was after her. No need to cause trouble for yourself unnecessarily. Perhaps you could give us some help instead. We have recently arrived up here and would like to get to know the area.”
