OOC: meant for only Illu to reply for now, we had an idea ------------------------------------------------------- Taworri trotted along the wooded path nervously. She had never been alone before and she didn't like it. She felt her coat creeping with chills brought on by the unknown terrority that surrounded her, and at the slightest noise she snorted with terror. A small creature scuttled through the undergrowth beside her and she jumped nearly a foot in the air, silver tail flagged in fright. Arching her neck she bobbed her head worriedly, and as she did so her silver and cream forelock flopped over the crescent shaped marking on her forehead. Her normally soft, chocolately eyes rolled and showed their whites as she regarded her environment with terror, long forelock tickling her the edges of her flared nostrils. She had been traveling for around three days now, and although it was broad daylight she was nervous. She was actually generally more nervous in daylight, the night was her element, but her mother had told her it was imperitive that she got away quickly, and currently there was no moon in the sky to illuminate the night or bring joy to the darkness so she travelled by the light of the sun. She had left the valley where she had been born at her sire's and dam's urging, her rarity had made it dangerous for her to stay in that place, the kind stallions (who were all related to her in some way) could not claim her as she was their kin, and the rest happened to be of an unusually cruel and power-corrupted sort. In reality, there was only truly two families of stallions that lived there, her father's kind and this mean kind. So she had left, urged on by her mother lest the stallions come for her for she was exceedingly rare and exceedingly beautiful. This Taworri did not know, but she knew and respected her mother's wishes, and knew too that her dam was wise, so she had left, despite her sorrow, and now sought a herd in the South, where she was at present. She had met no other horses yet, and she was craving their company as all horses crave the company of their own kind. It is not natural for a horse, especially a filly, to be so alone. She trotted on through the semi-darkness of the forest, her prancing hooves beating a soft, nervous rythym and her already dark coat darkened further with the sweat that dripped down her back from the pressure of being alone.

It was only natural that Brael should somehow head to highest place imaginable to have her foal. She did not do as Bel Bel and hide in a nearby cave, instead she went straight up to the highest tor she could find, way out into the open for the world to witness their first moments of life of their new King or Queen respectively. Oh yeah, her baby was going to be the most awesomeness awesome of awesome. The tors where her best option, the foal would be well spotted, but men wouldn’t dare try to climb, and rouge stallions could easily be spotted.
The full moon had made things easier for her, but what with the stupid clouds inexplicably hovering around, there was no light to go by, and her plan backfired as there was nothing to illuminate the tors. Her foal, as another setback, wasn’t the glitteringly beautiful Moon Filly she’d been longing for, but a leggy, sturdy little orangey colt. Finally giving way to common sense, she’d migrated down into the trees for a few days for him to get stronger, and it was now time to go find Nevada again.
Brael nudged the foal in front of her, watching his strides intensely. The new King couldn’t be wobbly at birth, and he had to walk strong and straight. He seemed to be doing okay, so, feeling pleased, she lifted her head up and pranced along happily.
Nevada wasn’t the first thing she noticed however, nor was it even a horse at first. Be it some new mothers instinct (as Brael seemingly had none to start with) or dumb luck, she quickly got the sensation it wasn’t just her and Yarran out here. Frowning, she slowed the foal down to a halt and walked forwards, ears backwards to investigate.
Something was moving in the dim light, and it wasn’t a normal horse, its paces where too fine, too ghostly, more like, well, her own. Oh my God! Someone must have seen her walking and was trying to imitate the sexy! As the horse kept going, a flash of her bright silver tail caught Brael’s eye, and that was all the information she needed.
The shock quickly gave way to a sense of ‘Oh God what am I gunna do?’ It wasn’t Ria, Ria was lighter in coat than this one. Brael pretty much took to stalking the newcomer, baby in tow, and while doing this she realised she didn’t know this from the Moon Filly herd she used to be in. The stranger had appeared from nowhere and that more than anything annoyed her. Thinks-she’s-so-big had a lovely little mysterious past, blergh.
At loss of a way to make her introduction, she quickly brought Yarran in front of her and just, well, shoved him at Taworri, so basically all of a sudden a little red foal was tripping out of nowhere. Yarran almost sat down on his haunches at the sight of the new horse, when Brael suddenly appeared next to him to ‘save’ him from the scary horsey.
”Oh, sorry,” Brael said with a shrill laugh, nosing Yarran up to stand properly. ”You know, they get away from you sometimes,” mumbled apologetically, then looked up. ”Oh!” she exclaimed delightedly, ”Another Moon Filly! Sorry, but I haven’t seen another one in a long time!”

Taworri trotted along the path at a steady pace, continuing her journey into the cloudy night, constantly looking from side to side to for any threat. After a while she began to get the sense that she was being followed, and though she stopped and scented the air she could smell nothing. If there was something there it must be downwind from her. She decided to keep going after all she was immensely paranoid at the moment, it was probably just her own mind creating phantom attackers. After a little while though she could no longer ignore it. There was something behind her. She stopped, throwing up her fine head and listening intently. Just then, something, fell, for lack of a better word, out of the night and bumped into her hock. Whirling around in terror, silver tail flagged once again and sweat streaming down her neck, she was just about to make a run for it when she saw that what had brushed against her leg was no more than a tiny red colt. Exhaling in relief she lowered her nose gently to it and breathed softly on it's face. Just then a mare appeared beside it and Taworri took a step backwards in shock. It was as though she was looking at a reflection of her self, though this was no mirror image presented in water, this was another horse. ”Oh, sorry,” said the other horse shrilly, "You know how they get away from you sometimes... Oh! Another Moon Filly! Sorry, but I haven't seen another one in a long time." Taworri stood dumbfounded for a few moments before exactly what the other horse had said registered. In all her life she had never encountered another horse that was even remotely close to her colouring or build, not to mention the fact that a young colt and its mother had simply just dropped into her night after days of encounter no other horses. And what had the other called her? A Moon Filly? Finally Taworri was able to get her bearings and reply "That's quite alright," she said shyly then looked at the foal with a smile "He is a fine young colt." hesitating, she then added "And pardon me, but did you say that we were moon fillies?"

Ha! She said he was handsome! Her colt was already attracting attention! The idea she might be saying that to be polite never really came to her mind. She looked quite pleased; at least until the next part of what Taworri was saying came.
Wait, what? She didn’t know what she was?
”Um, yes,” Brael mumbled confusedly, giving her sister-in-colour a funny look. ”I mean, the colour of your mane and tail, being out at midnight when other horses are sleeping or resting, I just thought, um... I’m sorry.” She must have made a mistake then. A Moon Filly would know what she was, they were greater than Thowra, even though everyone still had to realise that... ”Um, are you some kind of mutant then?”

lol Illu and gee thanks- a mutant? ------------------------------------------ Taworri looked thoughtful as Brael listed off the various characteristics she attributed to Moon Fillies. Well it was true. She did match this mare's colouring almost identically, and she did prefer the night over the day. Then she heard the next part. Um, are you some kind of mutant then?" asked the other mare, non-too politely. Taworri snorted indignantly, she may be shy and polite, and maybe she did not know many of the tales of the bush but she did have a sense of pride. "I beg your pardon," she began "But I have never heard of Moon Fillies before. Talk of legends was banned in the valley I came from." she almost turned right around to leave there and then, but curiousity got the better of her. Half turning, she sighed then turned right back around, "Tell me," she said "What do they say of Noon Fillies? Are they known for living in caves and dancing in the moonlight?" Her mother had mentioned a couple of things, something about her being of an ancient breed belonging to the moonlight and travelling above ground as well as below it. She was almost certain that she and this other mare were talking about the same thing, but she had to be sure before she said anymore. She couldn't conceal her excitement though, her eyes watched the other mare eagerly for a reply- would she finally figure out her own identity? All her life she had searched to find who and what she was and now, from this strange mare so like herself, would the truth be told? "I am Taworri by the way," she added to be polite "Named for the evening breeze which blew the night of the full moon when I was born."

||OoC|| Words Brael not is good. xD ||
Oh great, she’d stuck her hoof in her mouth now hadn’t she. Brael watched in horror as the other filly looked as though she was about to leave, but thankfully it looked like she’d thought better of it. Yarran apparently decided the stranger wasn’t so scary after all, and he carefully detangled himself from Brael’s legs to take a sniff at Taworri’s knee.
”Oh, sorry, I’m Brael, it means the stars,” she said quickly, before working on how she was going to answer. Eventually she decided to tell her everything she could because Taworri did have a right to know. ”Um, well, there were no caves where I came from because it was mostly forest, but we practically lived during the night. I came from a small herd really far south and we were protected by a large number of stallions, because, well, I guess, they say we’re a dying breed now, which sounds about right because other than my old family, well, you’re the only one... She explained, wide eyed, still wondering where Taworri had miraculously sprung. ”Well, you’re the only confirmed one anyway. Normally when there are strange horses about, you hear stories, but no one’s ever heard stories of other Moon Fillies out here because it was the first thing I asked everyone. Were you born on the New Moon or something? I dunno, it could be an old mare’s tale, but the other Moon Fillies used to say if you’re born on the Full Moon luck will follow you, but if you’re born on the New Moon bad luck and misery will follow you. I think Ilinga was born on the new moon and her dam died, and well, all that other stuff happened, and being the only Moon Filly up here sounds like pretty bad luck to me,” she said quickly, reverting to her usual habit of speaking 12 billion miles an hour when she was excited about something. Somehow it never occurred to her that if Taworri didn’t even know what a Moon Filly was, the story of Ilinga was going to be an equally alien concept.
Another question was going through her mind now. Now what? It seemed unlikely this was going to end in a ‘Nice talking to you, see you later’. Part of her wanted to invite this new filly along and bring her to Nevada. He would probably wet himself with glee or something, then she could have all the glory of finding of her, Nevada would be most pleased, and he could also have the glory of having the two rarest fillies in the mountains all to himself. But, Taworri could also be a potential competitor and she would no longer be the glittering jewel of the herd. There was going to have to be the sharing of attention. What mattered more?

OOC: Lol Illu, I love Brael <3 she's so funny xD ----------------------------------------------------- As Taworri waited for the other mare to respond, the small red colt went closer to her and sniffed her on the knee with his tiny, trembling muzzle. Gently she nuzzled the crest of his mane, allowing him to touch her leg as much as he needed to to be comfortable with her scent and the concept of her being there. Finally the other mare responded and Taworri looked up excitedly, her ears pricked forward with interest "That is a pretty name" she replied as the other horse introduced herself and was just about to ask what she had named her colt when the mare started to talk about 'Moon Fillies'. Taworri listened wide eyed as she recounted her story, and couldn't help but match up some of the details with some stuff her mother had told her in secret, where they could not be overheard by the malignant head stallion of the valley. And that name, "Ilinga", she was sure she had heard it whispered through the bush by the birds and the animals whenever she passed, this must be why! She listened attentively as the other filly raced on to tell her more details. This was so exciting! And had Brael said they were the only two around here? How cool, Brael was practically her sister! She'd always wanted a good friend, there had been no other foals the year she was born, maybe Brael and her could become close friends through their shared circumstances? "I was born on the night of a full moon," she replied when the other had finished "I do not know much more, except for although my dam is a relatively normal brown colour, she is extremely beautiful and has always beeen prized by my sire. I do not consider myself unlucky, I had to leave at some point and I am lucky to have escaped joining the herd of the brute that owns my former valley"

||OoC|| Sorry for the absence, my muse is utterly dead for Kossie right now but it’s not fair of me to leave you hanging for so long with only a paragraph to work with. *Headdesk*
Oh, and being a ‘brown’ with no silver expression means her mother would be a liver chestnut because Z only works in the presence of an expressed E allele and *rattles on incoherently for a while, oblivious to the fact no one’s paying attention. Appears happy, perhaps best to leave be.* ||
”Ew. Mean stallions? Oh well, you must be a Full-Mooner if you got away,” Brael agreed quickly. Now seeing as Taworri had no herd to get back to, it seemed almost unfair to leave her behind. She’d probably get a nice stallion anyway, but then again, maybe they like, met for a reason and she was like, meant to help her and stuffs. Ooooh! ”You could come meet my herd when I get back tomorrow!”

OOC: oh, that's ok. are you going to stay with Kossy? I hope so! let's try and get an interesting plot going this post will be short though, I have finals to work on!! and I know about liver chesnuts I just don't know the coat genetics you could help me if you want to though, lol, you don't have to I was just going by the description of Ilinga's dam in Moon Filly- I'm never quite sure what colour she is supposed to be, I'm assuming a dark liver chesnut ---- BIC: Taworri was feeling slightly dazzled by Brael's rapid fire talk, but was amused too by her almost incoherent babbling. "Ooooh! You could come meet my herd when I get back tomorrow!” gushed Brael suddenly and Taworri's lifted her head excitedly "Do you really think I could?" she asked eagerly "I mean, would they even want to meet me?" OOC: woah, shorter than I intended! sorry!

"Pfft, yeah!" she laughed. The thought of Nevada not wanting to meet another Moon Filly sounded like saying NASA didn't want an interview with E.T. "Okay, the herds a little big already, but Nevada might pee himself with excitement anyway, and besides, if worst comes to worst he could always chuck out that new silver filly." She glanced around once, then whispered conspiratorially, "I don't like her that much, she never talks and all she does is mope," then giggled a bit at her own daring. "I'd be really cool if you came though! Nevada's going to be the next King after he beats Tingara, Aleo was really worried about him when he was around too, apparently he was so scared he kept tabs on Nevada's whereabouts all the time!" Or, so, she'd been told anyway, Nevada's paranoia not withstanding.
