It was a relatively clear night, though a few clouds drifted across the full moon occasionally. A dark shadow trotted out in the open, clearly exposed for all to see against the moon-washed snowgrass. But she wasn't all dark. Her mane and tail seemed to glow with the in the light of the moon, and little stars of light shone on her dark coat. Her legs flashed noticeably, thanks to her white socks, even her face had a large blaze. She wasn't afraid though. Why should she be? Surely she was the only one out on such a night, cold as it was. Unseasonably cold, even for early Spring. The yearling still had the vestiges of her winter coat, and her hair was fluffed up against the cool breeze. She skipped along, not particularly concerned with anything but her movements along the springy snowgrass.

OOC: S'prize! If another brumby was as fearless as the sprightly yearling, it was the old Clydesdale, Komo. The bay giant grazed nonchalantly on the grass, his senses dull from his life in captivity. He barely heeded what his ears had to say, usually relying in his eyes to see danger before it came to him. Not that many dangers came for him. Dingos never thought twice, and stallions generally avoided him because of his size and his lack of mares to steal.
In truth, the draught horse was quite lonely up in the High Country. Up on the Ramshead, men rarely came so the giant horse was completely alone. Occasionally Komo would catch the scent of another horse, but he was too unskilled to follow the tracks to scent to their owner. Only when a horse was courageous enough to run across did he have company, and they usually didn't stay long.
In the night, his shaggy pelt was almost black but for the high white socks on his sturdy legs and the splash over his long face that glowed eerily in the full moon's light. The only sound was of his teeth grinding down the grass and his deep breathing. Like every night. Komo spent most of his time grazing just to fuel his large body -- the grass here did not nourish him as well as the feed from the men but he couldn't imagine going back to them now after all this time in freedom.
Not expecting any other equines to be out and about in the frigid darkness, Komo had to look twice with his mixed blue and brown eyes to confirm the existence of the small dark brumby with flashing socks prancing across the snowgrass. Excited, Komo nickered to her, his voice deep but gentle. Despite his imposing size, he was a calm and friendly beast.

OOC: Wow- I'd totally forgot about Komo-sorry Komo-*pats* I don't think I've ever rped with him before but the poor soul's going to have to deal with Kaleena's attitude. :/ sorry Komo! BIC: Kaleena was happily prancing along, oblivious to her surroundings despite her wild birth, when the sound of a nicker made her freeze, foreleg raised in mid-air. Swiveling her ears she pinpointed the sound to be just ahead and to the right of her. Suddenly she pinned back her ears, who dared disturb her nightly fun? This was her night. She had claimed it. And it was time to defend it. Ears still pinned back she trotted quickly in the direction of the nicker, this time though her gait was not at all light and gay but long-strided and stiff. Her tail was flagged jauntily over her back and she held her head high, not bothering to approach subtly. Finally she came in sight of the other horse and froze once more. First of all he was huge. Second of all, he kind of had similar markings to her...what with the high socks and large amount of white on face. That wasn't fair. She was unique. No one else could have markings like hers. Ugh. and he was a boy too. SHe consoled her self with the fact that he obviously wasn't as dark as herself, and nor did he have dapples or "frosting" on his body. And of course she was prettier. Snorting self-righteously she continued towards him, head held high and proud.

Firstly, he was surprised at her apparent age. He hadn't been expecting a foal. The old male was concerned at this, and he looked around for her mother who seemed to be nowhere n sight. Was the filly lost? The bay draught horse turned his attention on the dark filly. She was quite oddly coloured, but that wasn't quite as important to the where-abouts of her family.
He was a little disconcerted to see that he seemed to intimidate her for a moment, but then she met some kind of resolve and came closer. Her fearless attitude reminded him of some racehorse foals he had once seen. They had acted like this, so confident and sure of themselves. Komo huffed and smiled to himself. At least she was not worried. "Hello, little one." He said, lowering his head a little to not look so large, "Where is your mother?"

OOC: awww, me loves poor Komo, I'm sorry Kaleena's so mean...
" Little. I'm not little?" she said indignantly, looking at the other horse with disdain " And where's my mother? I went out one day and when I came back she had moved on with the herd. Of course, I was already ready to take care of myself so I didn't really bother looking for them," she snorted, looking at him suspiciously "Why, what's it to you?" she asked, tossing her head.

Komo huffed, amused by the little spitfire. "Compared to me, you are small." She definitely reminded him of the thoroughbreds. All bark and no bite, most likely. Instead of becoming offended, the titan sniffed the air to get a better sense of her. "I'm sorry you lost your family, little one. I care because you are young, and should not be alone." He flicked his ears forward in the darkness, his one blue eye silvery in the moonlight. "I mean no offence, little filly -- I am just concerned."

OOC: lol, "spitfire" I like that description of her...it certainly suits her BIC: He was concerned? For her? But he barely even knew her! This stallion was definately weird. Not to mention the fact that he kept calling her 'little'. She whisked her short flaxen tail in annoyance but didn't say anything, for once. Instead she cocked her head to the side, studying the huge bay. As well as being about three times her height he was heavier set than most horses she had seen and even had strange tufts of hair around his fetlocks. Other than this he seemed quiet normal...she wondered where he had come from. Bodly, she tossed her head and looked up, straight into the stallion's eyes "Well, what's your name?" Kaleena didn't really care. but she was eager to keep the conversation going. Now that she had run into another horse she realized justt how lonely she had been. She was no longer even the slightest bit daunted by his large size, it was quite obvious to her that he was a big pushover.

Komo flicked his tail, Still amazed at her impossible confidence. He was a large stranger, yet she was undaunted. He lowered his head so he could be on eye-level with her. He nickered, though the sound was deep and seemed to rumble through his barrel chest. "My name is Komo. Will you tell me yours?" He hoped the flighty little filly might stick around, it would beat being alone, and he was even-tempered enough that he could easily shrug off her demanding nature.

"My dam called me Kaleena, it means 'snow daughter'" she answered loftily, turning her head to examine her surroundings more closely. She hadn't even noticed that Komo had had to lower his gigantic head to be on eye level with her, in her eyes they were more than equal in both stature and status. Flicking her tail idly she turned back to the gentle giant "Soooo," she began, "What is this place?" Not waiting for an answer she bent down to grab a moutful of grass, legs stretched comically wide in order for her delicate muzzle to reach the ground. In her mind, of course, she had executed the maneuver perfectly gracefully. She had no inkling of how young and inexperienced she must appear to the clydesdale and looked up at him after a few nibbles, staring proudly into his eyes and expecting him to be impressed. Despite her youth and inexperience Kaleena exuded an aura of defiance and imperialness.
