Name: Gudda Species: Brumby Gender: Filly Age: Three years
Appearance: Gudda stands at 14.1HH, with strong joints and fine head. Narrow through the chest, the filly does not have much stamina or swiftness, for she is still growing and is rather gangly. Nonetheless, the foundations of good conformation are there, for Gudda is built slightly uphill, with powerful hindquarters and sloping shoulder. The filly’s neck is ewe shaped, carried high and with a small dent before the withers. Compact and solid, Gudda has strong legs and hard hooves. However, because of her narrow frame, she stands cowhocked in the back, and her pasterns are quite sloped, giving her smooth movement but a tendency towards strain.
Gudda is strikingly marked, for though filly is chestnut with a lighter mane and tail, she has queer white markings around her underbelly and on her legs. Her face is marked with a wide blaze, and it is her rich chestnut colour, which has given Gudda her name. Her mane and tail are sparse, and her tail is set rather high, so she carries it arched over her back, like a pennant in the wind.
Personality: For such a young filly, Gudda is still quite nervous around other brumbies, and she often watches them from a clump of snowgums or narrow fringe of bush. Though she is timid, the filly is gentle and kind natured, looking to the stallion for reassurance. While other fillies play their rough games of chase, Gudda spends much of her time grazing in the companionship of an older mare, not one to run about and quarrel, noisy as the gang gangs.
Nonetheless, for all this, Gudda is quite fond of foals, and has strong maternal instincts. When those other mares and fillies left to give birth to their foals alone, Gudda would look longingly after them. For while she still ran in the chestnut stallion’s mob, the filly would watch over those same foals, telling them of the old bush stories, sharing with them her wisdom and knowledge. Indeed, Gudda hopes for nothing more than the companionship of a fine young stallion, with a foal pressed close to her flank, and another carried there in her belly.
History: Haven’t thought of one yet.
Genes: ee/Aa/Oo Extra Comments: Gudda means ‘Red Lizard’. Gudda is the great-granddaughter of Goonda.
