Appearance:
Aruna is a lovely grulla mare, with a black-brown mane and tail. Her coat is made up primarily of grey, but you can see a hint of tan that only grullas sport. Now there are wonderful variations to this one-tone color, starting with her points. Aruna's legs and face are tinted a darker hue that the rest of her body, making them stand out from the rest. But it's done in a soft way, so nothing looks like it has a dark mask. As if this isn't enough, her legs have a few dark bands around them, and a dorsal stripe runs down her back. Lastly you should know that she's got a divided stripe down her head; it's almost cut in three parts. Build-wise, you might say that Aruna is a bit stocky. But she's got a good configuration, every body part fitting correctly with the other to make an evenly proportioned mare. Aruna lacks a slim and lithe figure, but she's still just as beautiful, and her difference is something you want to look at.
Personality:
One distinct part about Aruna is her hard side. At the worst it's venomous, mean, and hardly cooperative. At times she seems to be always looking for a reason to pick at something, or at least attract someone's attention. Aruna can be very harsh. And you'll often find that she has hardly any remorse for anything, though you probably just don't see it. Aruna's hard exterior does often masks inner feelings, after all, and this is where you get to Aruna's softer side. The mare has a real temper, stubborn attitude, and mischievous spirit, but there's also other feelings. Aruna can be very rewarding; her silly humor is entertaining, and there's a real charm inside her heart. But if left unnoticed, Aruna can suffer from occasional doubt. From time to time, when she's alone, Aruna doubts her own self. Not so much physical capabilities and such, but... she can feel a bit left out, or not good enough, however silly it may seem. Perhaps this is some part of what drives Aruna to be such an attention hog; she hates it when others get in the way. However, she does want to find a love, settle down and have a couple foals of her own.
History:
Aruna's father was a magnificent dunskin, her mother a small smoky black mare. Her father had a reckless spirit, and that's one reason mother loved him; after all, she was a wild one also. Both were free brumbies, and passed on there ways to their foal; who, by some stroke of chance, turned out a grulla. The small family hadn't a real herd, it was father's fault really. He had been a roving bachelor, and eagerly picked up the wandering smoky mare. With Aruna's arrival, he seemed determined to start his own herd. He stole a few mares and added them to his young herd, and after a few generations things were pretty solid. Aruna was a few years old when he fell to one of his sons, and in split-second timing a band of bachelors attacked the new leader and his herd. Weak from battle and unprepared, the new stallion was unable to keep his mares from being scattered and stolen. And in the chaos of the moment, Aruna got cut of from the herd. She was young and frightened, and simply ran.
