The moon was full and bright, illuminting the pale white stallion beautifully. Kambigo leapt onto a nearby rock, near the cave that he and his mare, Nirribi had raced the recent storm into. His long mane was picked up in the breeze, billowing out around him; glittering like the soft spray of a waterfall. The night was his terrain, his kingdom even. He ruled the night, just as the rest of his species ruled the day. His bright red eyes were even brighter, as if the moon's fullness had pricked something deep within him to awake.
He arched his neck, so his chin brushed against his chest. He was king for a night. The thought of it brought him great pride. Not even the great Silver Brumby would be able to see what he was able to see, or do what he could do. Feeling exuberent(sp?), he tossed his head back and let out a wild, mysterious call, leaping off of the rock as he did. He galloped across the stoney ground. Something about the way the chilling wind blew past him gave him excess energy, he felt extremely good, and just wanted to keep going.
He continued on, feeling very confident, now that he knew the land better than he had on the night Nirribi and him had raced. He had learnt were the ground drops, and where the most rocks sat. He had even found a nice stretch of grass were he and Nirribi were free to race across without fear of becoming lame.
He raced over the ground, his hooves hitting the ground lightly so as to not wake the sleeping. A possum fled across his path, he slowed down so he did not trample it, then increased his speed after it passed. He had not yet explored the hidden caves, but he wished to one day. It would be a great pass time for when the sun was out, and he had nothing better to do.
The Nightrunner slowed down as the ground got rockier, and the ground started to head upwards. He scailed the incline quickerly, reaching the top within a few minutes. He stopped at the top, moving silently through the wattle. The trees began to thin and a small clearing could be seen. He stepped out into the moon's rays, letting the moon wash over him and soak through his bone and blood.
complete.
