Appearance: At 5'4", Delaney is downright diminutive. With her pale complexion and white-blonde hair, it's a wonder she lasted as long as she did in the rough outback. She spends most of her time on the small farm at Cascade Hut, but occasionally she'll venture out. Being as stubborn as she is, Laney refuses to wear sunscreen, often resulting in painful burns and blisters. However, she seems to have become accustomed to the environment. Rather than burn, she's begun to tan. Though you can't see much difference yet, she's incredibly proud of herself for adjusting so well. Small accomplishments make her glow with pride, so you can just imagine the feeling she gets when she manages to wrangle a mustang. Her horses interest her to no end - if you want to find Laney, you should look for the horses.

The tiny girl has got long, slightly wavy blonde hair. Her eyes are a pale blue, almost shocking in their pallor. She tries to avert her gaze as often as possible, because she's often been told that her eyes "look like death." The comparison is unpleasant, but surprisingly accurate. Her irises lack much pigment, making her look downright frightening sometimes. Delaney has considered colored contacts, but it seems like a pointless waste of money. She's never noticed the odd effect her eyes seem to have on other people, as it doesn't really bother her.

Her fashion style is vague, mostly jeans and black cowboy boots. Delaney likes to be comfortable rather than fit within the cultural norms of the time. She thinks the standards are ridiculous, but she doesn't outwardly speak her opinion because of the often violent backlash. Laney is often seen wearing a large, wide brimmed black cowboy hat to keep the sun off of her face and prevent potentially scarring burns.

Personality: Delaney is usually brash and outgoing, always forcing her opinion down everyone else's throat. She doesn't like to take no for answer. The girl enjoys having a good time, but she's got a few too many flaws as well. Despite being strong willed, stubborn as a mule, and having a gentle hand with horses, Laney is prone to panic attacks. When a situation gets too much to handle, her hearts speeds up, she begins to shake, and before long her body shuts down and she passes out. Quite obviously, this would make an interesting conversation piece - but she chooses to keep it to herself for obvious reasons.

History: Laney's parents were always extremely protective of her as a child because of her panic disorder, which only led to her increasing disrespect of authority and more panic attacks as she broke more rules. She hated restrictions, especially being grounded, as they kept her away from the stable. Her parents owned a small barn and several horses, and her mother always commented dryly how Delaney seemed to be born in the saddle. She was winning barrel racing and pole bending competitions like nobody's business, and eventually her parents grew to respect her as an adult. Laney moved from America to Australia for college, attending classes in the winters and spending her summers in the mountains. Of course, though it was insanely expensive, her parents allowed her to ship two of her childhood horses with her, as well as her mongrel dog. Laney rented an apartment just off campus, making enough for rent by breaking young horses and the occasional mustang.

Name: Enfilade (Call name: - - -, Show name: "Humor Me With This Request")
Gender: Stallion
Age: 9
Species: Horse
Breeding: Belgian Warmblood
Appearance: Standing tall at 16.3hh, Enfilade is not a horse to mess with. He is a big, barrel chested Warmblood with a startling white blaze that covers almost his entire face. Enfilade is a gorgeous animal and Laney's prized barrel horse.
Personality: Enfilade is extremely protective over his "herd," which contains Rolodex and Cosmonaut, Delaney's other two horses. And, of course, Laney. He is a herd animal through and through and usually appears at a loss without his buddies, which is his one distraction in the ring. When he sees barrels, or anything that looks like a barrel, he gets extremely excited. As he has been getting on in years, his enthusiasm has slowed quite a bit. Rolo has become her favored trail horse, and Enfilade often enjoys the pleasure of pasture rest rather than the usual taxing work.

Name: Rolodex Propaganda (Call name: Rolo, Show name: "Jigsaw Pattern Dominoes")
Gender: Gelding
Age: 6
Species: Horse
Breed: Quarter Horse x Thoroughbred
Appearance: Rolo is a black and white paint with startling blue eyes. Laney often laments on the fact that the young Paint Horse was gelded, because eyes like that should not be put to waste. He is about 15.3hh, so he is not the largest horse around, but this suits him just fine.
Personality: He is a head strong horse with a typically sour temperament. Rolo often picks fights with Enfilade because he knows the older stallion will tolerate it. After her two years of hard work, Rolo has improved dramatically. He's become a powerful gelding capable of the toughest feats. He's proved himself to be a strong and cunning mind, capable of much more than she originally thought. Rather than becoming the pole bending master she'd originally thought him to be, Rolo has become her new trail horse. He loves the challenge of the outback, and many long afternoons have been spent in pleasant companionship. He still retained most of his nasty temper, but she's come to love him all the more for it.

Name: Cosmonaut (Call name: Cosmo, Show name: "Brass Knuckles for the Hissy Fit")
Gender: Mare
Age: 5
Species: Horse
Breed: Australian Riding Pony x Tennessee Walking Horse
Appearance: Cosmonaut is Delaney's pride and joy. She's a dark brown color, nearing a shade of bitter chocolate. Cosmo also has light hazel eyes that are usually curious and inquisitive, along with a pale cream mane and tail. She is the youngest of the horses and still growing, but currently she is 15.2hh and in training to be a barrel horse. Laney hopes to breed her and Enfilade at a later date.
Personality: Cosmo is very high strung, as mares are prone to be. She is relatively good under saddle, but if another horse gets too close in the ring, she does not hesitate to pin her ears back and kick. Mares are rarely kind tempered, but Cosmo is pure mare at its worst. Over the past two years, her temper hasn't improved in the least. In fact, she's gotten even more spiteful and mean. Laney is constantly considering letting her loose as she's simply become too much trouble to keep.

Set loose recently into the outback as she became too much trouble to keep tame.

Name: Metro
Species: Husky
Gender: Male
Age: 2 years, 6 months
Appearance: Metro is a spunky ball of white fur with bi-colored eyes, right eye being brown and his left eye being icy blue. His tail has a signature curl to it, and his nose is black. There isn't much to say about the fluffball rather than he thinks he's eight times the size he is.
Personality: Metro is an independent ball of spunk with a big bark for such a little body. He's always sticking his nose where it doesn't belong and often runs about stealing the hearts of those he meets. Metro is adorable - and he seems to know it.
