Loorea chewed the grass thoughtfully. "Yes, I like the summer too. I would like it even better if man did not exist." She said this because, of course, summer was when men came to the high country with their cattle, who grazed on the best grass, and inevitably some stockmen would decide to arrange a brumby run or go after a single horse. That was when summer was scary.
Daku rolled around on his back to give himself a massage. "Ahh," he sighed contentedly. "Summer's not too bad, I guess," he saind, relenting.

"Oh yes, I forgot about man," A small tingle went down Tamaska spine as he thought of the humans and their stock whips. "If no men existed then we would have less to worry about in the summer and we could enjoy the sun more. I'm lucky I haven't got caught up in any Brumby runs this year." The grey kangaroo bent over to scratch his ear with his short paws.

Loorea shivered as she thought about having that nasty thing they called a rope around her neck, and the horrible iron hobbles clamped around her legs, making a horrendous din when she tried, in vain, to move. "Yes, I'm glad we haven't either. And it's good not to have a stallion bossing you around. We've spied on a few herds in the last few years." Daku grunted in agreement. "They're not all that bad, but some of them really are possessive, and won't have their mares go off alone. " The dingo told Tamaska, yawning as he did so.

Tamaska laughed. "Well you know what some stallions are like," He said. "They can be very protective and will do anything to not lose their mares, even if that means they can't go off on their own." The kangaroo leapt back onto his large feet. "I'm just going to get a drink," He announced and hopped off towards the slow-flowing river.
As he approached, he dropped his head into the river, lapping up the cool water until he was fully quenched, before skipping back towards the two friends. "That's better," He said, flopping back onto his little spot on the dry forest floor. Sunset was almost here as the clear sky had turned into an orangey-blue and the sun was slowly disappearing behind the mountains. Tamaska sighed a happy sigh.

Tamaska watched the mare carefully and gave another heavy sky before glancing up at the sky. "It's been nice meeting you two," he said. "But I must go. Maybe we will see eachother again soon." Then he turned around and hopped off, giving them a small wave over his shoulder.

Loorea whickered after the grey kangaroo, "Goodbye, Tamaska, I hope we all see eachother soon!" She raised a hoof and attempted to copy Tamaska's wave, which resulted in Daku collapsing on the ground, rolling around and laughing so hard that he did not have breath to wish the kangaroo farewell.
