Kaie knew it was a harsh thing to say, even though it was true. "Go then, take her, O King. If she is as fickle as she appears, and you do manage to win her heart, there will be trouble when handsome young stallions flock around your herd, because she might long to be with one of them." Turning to Sia, and ignoring Tingara, the blood bay told her, "Think about what you are about to do, Sia. If you go with him, Coorain will grow up never knowing his father, and I'll almost certainly never see you again." Then he turned away. If Tingara attacked him, he was ready, though he knew, depite his skills in fighting, that the King was more experienced and he would almost certainly win the fight. What do I care? Kaie thought bitterly. If she's fickle and disloyal enough to be swayed by every stallion we meet, then she clearly doesn't love me, even though I do-or did- love her, and I will not force one such as her to stay with me.

Sia shivered at what Tingara said, knowing that it was possibly her own fault for getting into trouble out here in this Big Boggy. Though…really she had been looking for Kaie…she had really wanted him to see his handsome little colt, the one that resembled herself so much. She glanced over to Coorain, and reached over to give him a small, affectionate nip behind the ears. All annoyance for him was pushed back, as at the moment; Sia had been distracted by the king’s presence. She was being rather quiet, staring off over the muddy terrain, and occasionally flicking an ear in response to the exchange of words that flowed between Kaie and Tingara.
She was forced to look up at the black when he addressed her; she stared at him, a small smile perching across her delicate lips. He was handsome and no mare could really resist his charms. What would it be like, she wondered, to run with the biggest herd in the High Country? To not just be a couple of nobodies, but to actually be apart of something…so big and legendary? “Um...” She stalled him for a moment, gathering up her scrambled thoughts, “I’m Sia…and I’m sure I have mentioned Coorain before.” She said, stretching out her nose to tenderly touch it with his. Her heart fluttered then, being so close to the stallion made her whole body feel like jelly. She felt sorry for Kaie, he had such a little chance of keeping her with such a handsome and very experienced stallion catching her off guard.
As if responding to her thoughts, Kaie then turned to her, as he spoke, Sia could feel the hurt behind his words hit her hard, but she could not help what was about to change their lives dramatically. “I’m sorry Kaie...” She was about to say, but he was soon off without another word. She was suddenly very confused, she glanced up at Tingara and gave him a warm smile, immediately hiding what she felt so as to not raise any suspicions from the stallion. She was sure that she would soon forget about this and be happy running with the biggest herd in the High Country.
Coorain shifted his weight, watching his sire turn away, but not quite understanding what was happening. He sighed and moved around Sia’s hindquarters to reach under and have a drink., “So…what now?” Sia asked Tingara, tossing her head to remove her forelock from her eyes.

The strange bay’s harsh words about the mare sealed the deal so to speak for Tingara. He would definitely whisk her away from him now, no mare as fine as Sia deserved to keep such ,what the black deemed, wretched and bitter company. ”You watch your tongue about your mares. I have observed not one fickle or thoughtless action from Sia,” he spoke up for the chestnut, more willing to fight for a mare than he had ever been before –aside from when he had to fight for Myrrina.
”Run with me O beautiful Sia. You will be forever safe and loved in my herd’s company. Your fine colt will have many others with which to run, to play and to test his strength with,” he whickered softly, meeting her nose with his. Her touch was everything the black had imagined; soft, gentle and yet it was electric. It made him quiver with excitement and a colt-like fear. His heart swelled with elation when her warm smile confirmed she had chosen him to run with.
”Come, we journey to the country of the great Brolga; to where his herd once grazed. It is not too far for young Coorain, I assure you,” Tingara said warmly, extending his muzzle to lip at the colt’s fluffy forelock. Soon enough the King’s nose once again found Sia, extending up to near her ears. ”If you so wish it I will not stop you if ever you wish to return to your old stallion,” he whispered softly, so only she could here. With one last gentle nibble, Tingara turned and beckoned the mare and her foal to follow him to their new life.

Kaie trotted forward to touch Sia's muzzle with his own. "Do not break Tingara's heart as you have broken mine. Please. And Sia, I'm sorry what I said a minute ago. Anger and sorrow made me say things that are untrue." he whickered softly. Staring into her eyes for a second, he lowered his head to speak to Coorain. "You will have a good life with the King, little one. If you ever wish, in the distant future, to be with me, you will be welcome to. Wherever you are, and as long as you do what is right, I will be proud of you." He gazed into his son's eyes for a time, then lifted his head once more. "Tingara, I bid you farewell, and a safe journey back to your herd." With that, the bay stallion turned and galloped off, the sparse trees and bushes of the marsh hiding the blood bay from veiw as he sped away from his former family.
