Tingara galloped along the path towards the valley, Myrrina galloping beside him. He nipped her playfully and pulled ahead, pulling up on the ridge above where the herd was grazing. He trumpeted a greeting to them but decided not to go down to them yet. "Welcome to my home, I hope you like it," Tingara smiled at her and rubbed his head on her neck. Tingara's ears flicked back, he'd thought he'd heard the noise of an animal moving through the trees. He wheeled around but saw nothing. Shaking his head, Tingara turned back to watching Myrrina and the mares below. He flicked his tail lazily at some flies before grazing on the grass that was nearby.

OOC: wow...I have no idea where this thread (where did Myrrina come in? ) came from lol. XD oh well....I'm just going to join in if you don't mind
Jannali and Kala galloped carefully through the trees after the black stallion and the new mare. Suddenly, Kala tripped and stepped on a large twig, which snapped under her weight with a seemingly explosive noise. Jannali went cold with horror as the sound echoed in the valley below. Gingerly, Kala stepped off the stick, looking apologetically at her sister. Silently, Jannali signaled to her to keep quiet. The stallion had wheeld around, looking through the trees for what had made the noise. He didn't see them and turned back around. Jannali let out a shaky sigh of relief.
OOC:short but sweet? lol EDIT by Tiggs: If you want separting lines, try the [ hr] tag =) Board stretching makes reading very difficult.

myrrina slowed to a trot, her sides moving like a bellow and nostrils quivering as the mare pressed closer to tingara. tossing up her head, myrrina snorted swinging her haunches around so that she bumped into the stallion as he stopped and sampled the air. he mare watched the noble black stallion, as he whinnied to his mob of grazing mares, and she felt a strange prickling on her hide, as though unseen eyes watched them. "it is a large bimble for one stallion," the mare said, dropping her head to nibble on the silver mountain grass.
for a moment myrrina lifted her head and looked to the north. although the mare longed for those frozen waters of the lake, of those valleys of snow gums and black sallee, where the air was damp and the mist crept down from the mountains so that all seemed mysterious and queer. turning to tingara, myrrina remembered meeting him in the snow, dancing with the blizzard even as he called to her.
worried by the presence of the other mares, myrrina kept close to the stallion's side. she reached over and nipped him, reminding him that she was there and that she was his. "and these mares, all these are yours?"
ooc: myrrina is my mare. tingara and her met a while back, but haven't posted together since we've both been busy and i haven't been on. and yaruka, the lines in your post are stretching the board.

Tingara nuzzled Myrrina as he felt her become uneasy. He laughed when she said his mob was large. "Four mares is not large, not compared to some anyway. I love small herds that way it's more personal. I want to know my mares by name, not colour," he smiled and began to groom her just below the crest of her mane. He was still uneasy, he had a feeling that some one was watching Myrrina and himself. "Would you like to go down to the valley? I'm sure the others would love to meet you," Tingara playfully nipped Myrrina and began to dance down the path the way he had danced with her at the lake, a colt like gleam in his eyes.

OOC: sorry about the stretching- I didn't realize

The two roans watched the black stallion lead the mare down towards his valley, Jannali thoughtfully and Kala with perhaps a hint of envy. The red roan turned to Jannali, "Come Jannali, we've been following for long enough. I want to meet new horses-not stalk them". Jannali sighed. She'd been watching the way Tingara interacted with this new mare closely, he seemed kind and a decent sort. "Well," she said uncertainly "Come on, let's at least go down to the other end of the valley and graze a bit..." implored Kala. "Ok," sighed Jannali, and she led the way down a different, less noticeable path down into the valley. Kala trotted after her, half-prancing in her excitement. Finally she might get to meet some of the horses around here and get a taste of what living away from her home herd might be like. They reached the bottom and began to graze, Jannali was nervous- she wasn't sure how far the stallion's territory extended and wondered if he might get mad at them.

Waiting at the bottom of the valley, Crayola the leopard appaloosa mare whinnied for Tingara to join her in the basin of the valley. She was glad he was back and by the looks of it, he's bought a friend. Whinnying another greeting, Crayola occupied herself with grazing on the luscious grass under her hooves.

Baree screeched to a halt at the base of the valley, almost crashing into Crayola. Nickering his apologies quickly, he then looked up the hill and saw the black stallion with a new mare. Goody! A new horse would be exciting and may bring interesting news. He wondered if life with a herd was always this eventful... OC: Baree is presented and accounted for.... this post was mainly just to let you know that he's here...sorry it's kind of lame

even with this noble and wise stallion beside her, myrrina was still fearful of the other mares. in the branches of the white sallee, a flock of gang gangs screeched wildly, and a mob of kangaroos looked up from where they had been quietly grazing, hidden by the thick undergrowth of bracken and tea-tree. the little brumby mare trembled. when tingara touched his nose to her, myrrina jumped.
in the valley below a brumby mare called and myrrina knew that the call was for tingara alone. a chestnut colt stood nearby, and myrrina wondered whether this was a son of tingara. but the black stallion beside her carried all the wisdom of the night, whereas this colt burned with all the brightness of the sun. drifting away from tingara, myrrina hesitated a moment. in the distance, mist still blanketed the undulating hills of the valley, and the wind rustled amidst the branches of the snow gums. myrrina picked her way carefully down the steep hill, for the wet mountain grass was slippery underfoot, and more than once did the mare stumble. here in the valley, the granite walls enclosed the herd of brumbies. and myrrina cautiously approached them, her head held high and eyes rimmed with white.
it was the brumby mare whom myrrina neared first. reaching out with her nose, myrrina gently bumped the mare's shoulder. this brumby mare was queerly marked, and she was fascinated. yet the air seemed fraught with undercurrents that the mare could not understand. "i'm myrrina," she said timidly. uncertain as to whether it was always this way when a stallion brought a strange mare back to his herd. as the wind shifted, it brought with it the scent of two strange brumbies. and myrrina stilled, craning her neck around as two roan mares entered the valley.
whether they were strangers or mares of tingara, myrrina did not know. and so she looked to the mare beside her for reassurance. who are these brumbies?
ooc: well myrrina has come down and is standing beside crayola. sorry for taking so long to post! i was busy and my net died. so not a good week.

Tingara greeted Crayola and then turned to Myrrina. Her edginess carried on the wind and Tingara nickered reassuringly to her. “It’s ok,” he said softly. Tingara soon turned to the gaggle of colts playing through the adults’ legs and greeted his two black sons and his two brightly coloured ones. As Prisma galloped through his legs Tingara nudged him. The spotty black colt fell forward, squealing with laughter. He turned and nipped his father playfully before returning to the other colts. “They are growing stronger each day,” he said to Crayola who now stood with Myrrina. Once again Myrrina began to become uneasy and Tingara soon saw why, two new roan mares had appeared down the other end of the valley. He whinnied a friendly greeting to them but let them be, if they wanted to come over they would in their own time.

Kala flung her head up excitedly at the stallion’s friendly call. She looked sideways at Jannali “See, I told you he didn’t seem bad!” she exclaimed. She flung her head and called back “Greetings!” she whinnied. Then, unable to resist the excitement of meeting the other herd of horses, she began to prance over in their direction, tossing her head for Jannali to follow.
Jannali froze when Kala answered the stallion “No!” she moaned “He was leaving us be,” she watched in dismay as her half-sister began to dance over towards the others. She called for her to come back but the red roan just ignored her and kept going. Sighing, she followed, feeling obliged to make sure her sister didn’t get herself into any trouble. She hoped that the stallion’s friendly and uninvasive greeting would mean that there wouldn’t be any trouble if they went over to him, and that he’d allow them to leave on their own terms. She still hadn’t given up on finding and running with that silver stallion the birds had sung of.
