Name: Yallaban Species: Brumby Gender: Stallion Age: 6 years old
Appearance: Yallaban has inherited speed from his mother, and is much more refined than most other bush brumbies. He stands at around 15.1HH, and has a broad chest, with well-sprung ribs and well-muscled hindquarters. His long, springy hocks and slightly high haunches are what make him so fast.
His shoulder is sloping, and his back is short with a strong hip and high withers. Yallaban is quite the jumper, having jumped his way out of the stockyards during the brumby drive. His legs are long, but with good, flat joints and hard hooves. While his head is plain, with wide flaring nostrils and a kind expression.
He is a light bay, with a wide blaze down his face, and a white spot on his belly. The only other white markings he has are four socks.
Personality: Yallaban is a quiet and kind young stallion. He prefers his own company, and though he is not shy, Yallaban has no longing but to live peacefully with a small mob of mares. He holds a bimble to the south of the Bogong and is usually not very adventurous. He is very gentle with his mares, and will protect them with his life if necessary. However, Yallaban prefers placid mares, and is particularly fond of ordinary colours such as browns, bays and greys. He is only a bay himself, and hates to be chased by stockmen and their dogs, having found plain coloured brumbies are hardly bothered.
History: Yallaban is out of a bay mare, and by a brown and white stallion. When he was two-years-old, he was in the large brumby drive that went through the High Country and only just managed to escape capture. Since then, he fought with a heavy grey stallion south of the Bogong and now holds a reasonably sized bimble. Yallaban is still very inexperienced, and even though he nears his prime, he still has no mares to run with. He once ran with two dun fillies, daughters of the same stallion, but both were caught in the brumby drive.
Genes: Ee/Aa/Oo Extra Comments: Yallaban means ‘native raspberry’
