Name: Iluka 'Near the Sea'
Species: Brumby
Gender: Colt
Age: 2 Years
Height: 15.3hh
Appearance: Iluka is a rich golden palomino with a white face and two high whites on his back legs. The white face covers neither of his eyes, which are a warm brown in colour. He also has two stockings on his forefeet. He is a well proportioned, if large fellow with a personality to match. Taller than your average brumby, his lean frame belies his muscle. Possessing a deep chest and pronounced withers, Iluka is built for running, suggesting thoroughbred or stock horse ancestry. His coat has a sheen that seems to reflect the sun’s light and energy.
Personality: Iluka is a curious brumby, and never listens to what he is told. He was not brought up around a bushwise herd, so tends to be rather careless in his travels. Not that being hidden is at the forefront of Iluka’s young mind: quite the opposite. He likes being the center of attention and is a bit of a showoff. He doesn’t have the courage to back up this flashy attitude however, and bolts for cover if he is ever out of his comfort zone. This colt’s bark is, at least for the moment, worse than his bite - tending to try and use his bulk and imposing stature to scare off any potential threats. Only time will tell whether he has enough sense to become a good fighter.
History: Born up in the rugged country surrounding the Ramsheads, Iluka spent much of his young life wandering this terrain. Save for winter, where any recognisable landmarks are blanketed by snow, he has spent very little time in lower country. His birth herd was a small one, with his mother drifting from herd to herd as stallions claimed her. Eventually a combination of wanderlust and a jealous bay stallion separated the golden colt from his dam and he has turned his nose south to the Cascades in search of new sights and fillies.
