Name: Kurrin (meaning sand)
Species: Brumby
Gender: Female
Age: 6
Appearance: Pale palomino, almost "silver" but she has an appaloosa blanket of white over her rump. Her legs fade to pale white, and she has a blaze that starts distinctly at her nose but fades into the almost white cream of her forehead. <>
Personality: Sweet natured and calm, Kurrin has a docile and kind demeanour. She's loyal, but does not deal well with internal conflict. She wants what is best for everyone, even if that means sacrificing her own happiness.
History: Born to Crayola and Tingara! She was a quiet and playful foal, loving to her (many) siblings, and nothing much changed as she was growing up. One day in Winter, her mother became separated from the herd after the great brumby run. Out in the Big Boggy, with fog and mist and snow all around, Kurrin was suddenly in her own little haven.
Being brave, she ventured just out of sight of her mother, only to see a great red beast of a horse loom out of the pale world. Galloping back to the safety of her mother, the red stallion came and introduced himself as Nepelle. Unable to find Tingara, Crayola followed Nepelle for the winter. Kurrin was nervous at first, but she finally came to trust Nepelle.
When Tingara found the small mob, Kurrin was old enough to leave her mother but not quite ready to join Nepelle. She led him a merry dance for quarter of a season until Spring spread across the High Country. She joined Nepelle then, and the love that fostered between them was whispered by the gang-gangs across the country.
Unfortunately it was not to last. For eight seasons, they were happy. Kurrin bore her mate two foals, a chestnut appaloosa called Lentara, and a bold chestnut colt with a smattering of snowflake spots named Maka. By the time Maka was born, Nepelle had fought a series of battles, only to lose the majority of them. His heart was lost under a turmoil of guilt, and Kurrin was sure that he could not bear to love her through the pain any longer.
A colt named Iluka came to her one day, only to be spooked away by Nepelle. Kurrin realised that her love for Nepelle was also wavering. She did not know how to resolve their problems, but the bushfire separated them before she could try. Alone now, her yearling son recently gone to find his own way in the High Country, Kurrin yearns for that burning love once more, her dreams haunted by a golden colt, not her russet chestnut stallion...
