Yarran,
Species: Brumby x Moon Filly
Gender: Male
Age: 6
Appearance: Yarran was born a vibrant red dun that has been slowly whitening out. Right now he's in a bizzare transition stage, featuring a firetruck coloured mane and tail on an off-white base covered in red speckles that can best be described as 'fleabitten mulberry' (or 'pastey freckled ginger kid in horse form', if you prefer). Time will tell if he'll lighten out any more. Otherwise, he's medium boned, built sleek with a refined head reminisent of his mothers, although his colour and full mane and tail mark him unmistakably as his father's son.
Personality: Yarran was always quiet, a trait that stayed with him into adulthood. He thinks more than he says and has a tendancy to overanalyze, although his wont of only saying the minimum that a situation requires can make him seem disinterested and unfriendly at best, or stupid at worst. In fact, as far as horses go he's downright solitary. He doesn't seem to feel the same need as others for company and is quite sated just to be off doing his own thing. He doesn't mean to come off as shy or antisocial, it's just an unfortunate side effect.
Although his appearance may be his fathers, it's in his behaviour that his mothers side comes out. Like the Moon fillies, he has an unusual affinity to towards the night. In Yarran this manifests as a sort of unshakable nonchalance and laziness during the day followed by a sudden burst of energy when the sun goes down. He can navigate easier in the dark than he can during the day and becomes practically jittery. Yarran at night and Yarran during the day seems to have an almost Jekyll and Hyde kind of contrast to it (without the mass murder part). And yes, this tends to annoy the crap out of any companions he might have that are busy trying to sleep.
History: The son of a gloriously white Spanish-style stallion pitted to one day be the next King of the High Country and one of the fabled and illustriously rare Moon Fillies (with a borderline-psychotic personality), it's a wonder poor Yarran came out as well adjusted as he did.
He was born stupidly early in the year, meaning he spent much of his time playing alone and listening to his mothers rants about how he was destined to be the ultimate champion of the world, because clearly one of HER foals should never amount to anything less. She even gave him a name to suit thus, choosing Yarran only because there was nothing that meant 'better than you'. It didn't take Yarran long to work out that he should stick with his sire if he ever wanted to learn anything practical.
After that, Yarran went on to quite frankly be a disappointment to his darling mother. Not only did he NOT instantly get Kingship upon turning 3, he only bothered himself with keeping one filly and generally (to her mind) seemed to be going out of his way to spite her by just being... normal. After that he left the High Country for a while, although no one seems to know where he went. News of a colossal fire eventually reached him, and he's wandered back to survey what's become of his homeland.
