Name: Alkira - Sky
Species: Brumby
Gender: female
Age: 5 years
Appearance: Unlike most bush brumbies, Alkira is delicate and petite, not rugged and heavy set. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage. It sets her apart from the other brumbies, which gets her noticed by too many eyes - man and horse alike. Her coat is a pretty shade of dappled light grey, it grows unbelievably shaggy in the winter months to keep her small body warm. Her mane and tail are a lighter shade of grey, fading to white at the ends. Alkira's cheekbones are very prominant, and her facial expressions are very expressive - helped along by her eyes, which are abnormally large. They are a rare sapphire blue, strange for a bush brumby, and again, not helpful when she tries to go by unnoticed. She's a very strange individual in the Australian brumby world, and has been picked on by other mares for her appearance.
Personality: Despite standing out from the crowd appearance -wise, Alkira would rather just settle down with a caring stallion and live a life of love and happiness. She doesnt understand the want stallions have for her - and shies away from them if they try to sweet talk her. Fights have, of course, occured when she tries to settle in one herd which she doesnt like. Alkira hates feeling like a prize to be won, and would rather hide away from company. Her ideal partner would be a stallion with only a few mares, to care for her.
Alkira has a love of foals unmatched by most mares - she wants a little one with all her heart. Unfortunately, she has never had the chance to settle down long enough to have one. Of course, she is only three - but to her, age is no issue when it comes to foals. Alkira is shy, and easily frightened. Humans intruige her, and she often wonders what it would be like to be cared for by one, but she is so horrified by the thought of being roped and controlled that she scattered at the slightest hint that one might be coming her way.
Alkira could be matched with the description of a rabbit caught in headlights - she doesnt know what to do, her heart pounds at a million miles an hour and she could be destroyed in seconds.
