Referance
Name: Derain, Of the Mountains Species: Brumby with a dash of Thoroughbred Gender: Male Age: Four Years Appearance: Derain has a rough, wild beauty. His snout is neat, straight and of a medium length. An ivory white blaze runs down the middle of his face, beginning and ending in sharp points. The velvety skin around his muzzle and nostrils is a dull, dust grey, spotted with several whiskers. His ears have a few missing pieces of skin, obtained through rambunctious play-fights as a colt. His head flows smoothly into his slightly-curved neck which in turn is well connected to his wide set shoulders. His body is more muscular than flowing, creating sharp angles around his hind-quarters and legs. His skin is coated in redish-orange hairs, darkening slightly on his neck and legs. What his lighter mane and tail lack in length, they make up for in a silky touch. During colder months his coat darkens quite a bit, causing him to appear almost brown in the darkness and terracotta in the light. Personality: Derain has a strong personality that, at times, can be hard to deal with. He enjoys nothing more than proving his point, and proving it well. He generally likes to think of himself as rather powerful and desirable but usually he can contain his arrogance enough to prevent irritating anyone to a point where he may get into trouble. Self-praise is not the only thing he directs his energy into, though. When he tries, he can be more or less sweet and kind, if not slightly blunt. His maturity is still developing and as he ages he will make a fine leader, capable of great things. He is intelligent in his own way. He knows the outback and how to survive, nay thrive in it. His ambitions include carving out a place for himself and perhaps obtaining a place of power. History: Not much to speak of in his past. His father wasn't the kind to stick around for very long and his mother was left to raise him. She was not unkind or cruel to him, but perhaps she can be described as one who is not very interested in nurturing or being particularly loving. That is why Derain now has trouble expressing his emotions. He was always fast because of his relatively potent thoroughbred lineage and made several friends as a young colt. As time went on, his mother met another stallion. Derain was indifferent, it made no difference to him as he received next to no attention from his mother as it was. He soon learned all the skills required to survive and left his mother at two and a half years old. Since then he has been doing nothing in particular, but these days he has made a decision to figure out what he is going to do with the rest of his life. Genes: I've absolutely no idea how to figure this out. Help would be much appreciated! Extra Comments: I rather like him ^^.

I rather like him too! Sorry for the delay, I've been out and about! Accepted, and I'll give him the genes ee/aa/ff
ee = chestnut aa = carries no bay* ff = flaxen mane/tail (based on the stock image you've picked)
*chestnuts never display bay (aka "agouti"), but if either of his parents were bay, buckskin, chestnut or classic dun, they may have passed him the bay gene. This just means that when he comes to make beautiful foals, you can have the option of bay-based colours so long as the lucky mare has a black base coat, even if she isnt' bay!
I don't know if you've done anything on genes before, but the crux of it is, here are the four possibilities. You can pick two of them! eg I picked aa by default.
- A - one of these on a black-based foal (Ee or EE) will result in a normal bay foal
- At - one of these on ablack-based foal will create a "wild bay" type (minimal back on the legs, usually a more chestnutty body colour)
- A+ - on a black base, this will create the "seal brown" pattern
- a - two of these will cause no bay, will be overridden by the above on a black-based foal
Eg if Derain has AAt, he will pass on A or At to his foal. If he has AA, he will always pass on A to his foals (he can never have a black foal).
My brain is totally scrambled right now, so if this just makes no sense, ignore it completely XD I'll mark him down as ee/aa/ff, and you can PM/MSN me if you decide to give him any bay modifiers!
The point is, he's ready to rock. Whether or no he carried the bay gene won't effect him until foals happen anyway! Welcome to Kossy, Pia and Derain!
