Hey guys! How are we? Some of you may have noticed my little character references on my main plot page ( link if you haven't seen) and I was wondering whether any of you would find a basic lineart template useful for your own plot pages. I know how frustrating it is to try and find images of characters you have in your head, and how helpful visual references are for colours and such, so I was basically wondering: - Would you use it? - What format would you like it in? (What image programs do you use?) - Anything specific you'd like to see with it?
I would really love to do some fan art of everyone's characters over my holidays (which start next Wednesday yay) but feel as a graphics mod I should offer something more than a skin in the meantime (plus, it'll help me heaps knowing the exact markings and shades of your characters). Keep being awesome, Ehetere

Nom nom nom. Templaaates <3 Things I generally find make good ref templates: - Having the head at 3/4 angle or straight on so you can see both eyes and most of the facial markings!
- Make sure all four feet, mane and tail are visible
- Have alternative templates or modify the first one to cover bulkier/fatter builds, and longer mane/tail/feathers.
- PNG is best (no nasty JPG compression); when filling in, I use Photoshop and paste templates as a top layer and set the blend mode to "multiply"
I would love to create some kind of char ref generator. Possibly a longshot, but maybe if I start coding something, we can one day try and fill it in with all sorts of colours! PS: fan art for everyone? You crazy woman

Excellent points! I'll have to try and stop myself from making it too complicated >.> I can put in the appropriate layer masks and things to make it easy for people if we wanted a photoshop platform, but as most people mightn't have access to that I'll have to use pngs I guess. I'll see what the general consensus is

Ok guys, I have completed a generic lineart if you wish to use it as a template for your characters. Below is the link to the full sized version, if you prefer to colour them this way initially: Here is the smaller version so that you don't have to resize it to fit the forum: Instructions for use:If you do not already know how to use a transparent file like this, follow these directions. 1) Open the link and right click on the image. Save it. 2) Open the image in your chosen image program. 3) If the background is not transparent pixels, place the layer on multiply and place it over a blank white layer. On a layer between these two you will be able to colour. The other option is me colouring the templates for you myself, which would be quite time consuming but if there is enough of a need I might do it. This way you can all make sure everything is just how you imagined it. Hope this proves useful guys!

Omnomnom! Thanks Rae! This is delishus <3 I think I'll have to update my char ref list >.> If I can do it justice, would you mind me altering it at all for longer-maned characters?
