The sky was deep steel shade similar in color to a young gray. Veins of silver threaded through the clouds, distinctly outlining edges that would have been invisible otherwise. Humidity made breathing difficult, forcing everyone to leave their more strenuous activities for another day. Electricity made the air hum softly, raising gooseflesh and encouraging nervousness. All of Kosciusko seemed to be silent; there were no birds a-twittering, dogs yapping, men yelling, or horses neighing. Not even the wind dared to whisper. It was obvious that a fierce storm would begin soon, and no one with a lick of sense wanted to be caught out in it.
Apparently our pearly white hero had not a dribble of sense. He stood at a high point along the ridge, peering out over the sparsely populated expanse of Dead Horse Gap. His posture was as calm and relaxed as if the sky was clear and sunny instead of dark and dreary. Bloody eyes rolled back and forth slowly, scanning for lone or unguarded mares. This was exactly the kind of weather that he and his ilk loved for mare gathering. The herd or two grazing down there would likely scramble for the cover of the snow gums when the shower began. It would be easy for him to either collect stragglers abandoned in the mad dash for shelter or to cut out mares and fillies in the confusion.
(ooc: short, but done.)

Lightning streaked across the large space of the sky, lighting up the jagged mountain peaks in the distance and turning everything silver for a few seconds before it returned to the dreary, unexciting night it would have been if not for the approaching storm. The wind whipped the lone stallion's mane across his face, his forelock lashing across his eyes and causing momentary pain. Kambigo blinked and shook his skull from left to right until the hair dislodged from his eyelids and slid back away from his face. "Damn it." He muttered, reaching down to rub his sore, red eye against his silver leg.
The sky was dark against the rest of the world, but being a creature of the night, Kambigo could see it all as clearly as if it was day. The lightning caused him a bit of trouble though, as it shot across the lit up the world; making it a lot brighter, mimicking the sun almost. It caused the same pain, and he remained a little extra cautious because of it, each time the sky lit up, he shut his eyes and waited patiently for the crack before peering out once more and moving through the strangely barren world. Everything was quiet, no dingo howled, no owl hooted and no possum scooted through the trees. They had all shut themselves away in their burrows, seeking safety over the burning hunger in their tummies.
Kambigo broke into a trot, as the ground began to rise into a ridge. The trees lessened around him, and he found himself loosing the safe shelter of the snow gums. Just as he reached the top of the ridge, a splash of silver caught his eye before another streak of lightning shot across the sky. The thunder rolled and rumbled, and the night runner froze instinctively. That kind of silver was not common around here, he would know; being the only night runner on the High Country...or what he knew of. The stallion twisted his head about, red eyes burning with interest and caution. A silver figure stood, staring off through the bush, unaware of Kambigo's presence. Alarm bell's raised in his head as he looked the brute over, he shared the same vivid silver colouring as himself, and that build...it was thin and malnourished. Much like himself and even from where he stood, even with the other facing away from him, Kambigo knew that this was another night runner. At first Kambigo didn't know how to react, shock and anger flared through him briefly until he remembered his own reasons for leaving the herd. He had wanted to see if there were other night runner's out here...and this was one of them.
His anger subsided and curiosity took over him; making him step forward and nicker softly through his nostrils. "So nice to finally see another being of the night out here." He said, striding confidently over to him, but he didn't go too close in case the stallion didn't take nicely to his appearance.
ooc. Sooo sorry about the wait! I definitely didn't intend for this to take so long x.x
