Species: Horse; Australian Brumby
Gender: Female
Age: Six
Appearance:
At approximately 14.1hh with a sleek, moderately muscled frame, Blue is certainly an interesting mare to lay your eyes upon. Her build is smaller and constructed for purely speed and stamina, however she looks nowhere near malnourished, as she is toned, just not in excess. Her pelt is jet black, with not a hair of light brown or grey aside from the small, white spot on the underside of her barrel where her girth would be, which contrasts greatly with her most striking feature--her light, crystalline blue eyes. They give her a very unique look, and go very well with her soft personality. Now, as far as Blue's disposition goes, she's a very ginger mare, one who possesses the elegance of one with experience, and the grace of royalty. She carries herself in a safe manner, not threatening nor submissive, and is very careful as to how she carries herself.
Personality:
Blue isn’t the average, outgoing, happy little mare that most may consider her to be, within a simple glance. She isn’t looking for attention 24/7, nor is she abnormally dark and violent, like some. She is a female of simplicity, and yet, can be so entirely complicated. Blue spends most of her life looking at the beauty within things; be if a rainy day or a sour situation, she will always find something to be in awe about. However, unlike some youngters that find something beautiful and move on, Blue actually treasures these things to a deep, barely comprehensionable level. She focuses on the details of things immensely, and because of this, has become an absolute expert on the art of reading expression and feeling from others. She can analyze another, be it a friend or stranger, and immediately understand things about them. This, in turn, tends to make others wary, as she always seems like she knows more then she should about someone, no matter how recently they’ve become acquainted.
Aside from Blue being absolutely mesmerized by the details within life, she also has a very soft and calm way of looking at things. She will never be the one to act aggressively first, unless pushed to it, and speaks with an almost unheard of grace and softness. Her voice, however, is never tender. Soft, but surely lacking all true, warm emotion. The mare is like this because, although she is so intensely hung up on details and comes across with serene calm, she is guarded beyond what most view as possible. Due to her past, she refuses to get close to anyone, be it male or female, out of fear they may hurt her again. She’s resistant towards personal contact, and will go out of her way to escape it if need be, and often becomes skittish, should she come in contact with someone she wishes not to. Trust is very important to her, and should you break it, she will not be pleased. Blue chooses to show no emotion whatsoever when coming into contact with someone, and if she feels she may have slipped, her mind tends to over-think it, and Blue will often back herself into a metaphorical corner. She’ll begin to feel closed in and panicky, and respects when others leave her alone at this time.
Now, yet another thing that describes the female is her will to be strong. This goes hand-in-hand with her desire to lock out emotions, as she believes they are a weakness. She was hurt gravely in the past, and because of this, has gone to all heights possible, to keep herself “safe.” Now, although Blue can seem resistant to get to know others, she’s undeniably open-minded. She will never judge another, only until they have done something to lead her on to their real, true personality. This, also, is where her knack for “reading” comes in.
Finally, should someone get past her hard outer shell, Blue is an absolute pleasure to know. She’s well-mannered and kind, and will let others in on her past if she trusts them, bit by bit. She has a soft spot for foals, as she has such respect for them, although she tends to become saddened because of the thought of her lost son. All in all, Blue is a very complex, yet entirely simple, mare. It would certainly take patience to master her emotions and gain her trust.
History:
Blue’s past is not on that many wish to experience, let alone have to remember for the rest of their lives. She was born a filly in a small, close herd of seven members, in which each and every member was friends with the next, and the stallion was considered a protective gentleman. Her mother had given birth to two twins, a rare occurrence indeed, Blue herself and a larger, better-sized male. Now, the little black foals had no idea that they had been illegally born. Or, rather, that’s how the lead stallion saw it, as Blue’s mother was the lead mare--and her father? He was a bachelor, discreetly lurking about the shadows within the territory without given permission. Her mother had fallen in love with him despite her stallion's rules, and when she birthed the foals were black, instead of dapple grey or bay, like the lead stallion or Blue’s mother. As to be expected, the large lead got extremely angered and mercilessly killed Blue’s brother, while within a blind rage, all before her mother could get her and her daughter to safety. It was only natural, for him to show his dominance in such ways, though Blue’s mother wouldn’t stand for her last child to be killed. She persuaded the lead brute to let her only daughter live, and hesitantly, he agreed. For a price. When Blue reached the age of two, she would be kicked from the herd. Her mother agreed, desperately wanting Blue to live, and the deal was made.
So Blue grew, coming to think that the lead was her father, though never feeling completely loved by him. He never spoke to her, and if she did get his attention, it was generally only him scolding the youngster for something she did wrong. The filly’s mother tried her best to comfort the foal, and being as she was young, she usually went along with it without though. After all, children are generally very impressionable, no? Blue grew slowly though, learning the ways of the wild, all from her mother. She was taught everything, from how evade predators successfully, to the art of disappearing without leaving a trace. Her mother had figured that these skills would be needed, as she knew the lead would keep to his promise. However, there was a deadly twist no one knew about.
As Blue came up to her second year, her mother told her everything. She told her about her father and the deal, and Blue felt somewhat relieved. Though, it only lasted for a few high moments. It was as the realization hit her that she had to leave, that the young mare fell into somewhat of a panic. The female had tried bargaining with her mother, as desperately as she could, though her mother told her that the stallion had made his decision. This was two nights before she was sent out, and considered an outcast in her own territory.
As the night came where the lead chased Blue out rather savagely, she raced from the territory without hesitation. She disappeared into the bush, disguising herself in the protection that was the rough terrain surrounding her. Blue ran for a good hour, before coming to a pause to observe the area around her. She was alone-so, entirely, alone. Though, Blue wasn’t warned of the incoming danger. The lead stallion of the herd considered her vermin, nothing but filth, and had long ago decided he wanted her gone. Terminated. Soon after Blue left, the quickest, most aggressive male within the herd was sent after Blue to hunt her down and slaughter her mercilessly. He was much, much bigger than the two year old, and possessed the anger and rage of an angered bull. To everyone, her fate seemed inevitable.
When the large male came bursting through the bush towards Blue, she was caught completely off guard. The male’s teeth dug into her neck harshly, pulling and tearing at her, trying to bring her dangerously close to his powerful, lashing front legs. Blue was a fighter though, and she had learned well from her mother. The female fought off the larger male with much hardship, getting into a standing position, though her neck was bloodied and torn. It was then that a snap from a nearby bush caught her immediate attention, and yet another brute came towards her; neck arched, ears pinned. However, he sprung at the attacking male rather than the helpless, dainty little filly, striking out with obvious practice. Within moments, the attacker was dead. Skilled. Perfection.
Blue, being how young and vulnerable she was, immediately trusted this male. She followed after him like a love struck yearling, and so when he began asking for a family, she was happy to oblige, jumping at any change she could to please him. She became pregnant in no time, and within the next season, birthed him a beautiful colt, jet black just like her.
However, he didn't last long.
It was one morning a little over three months after having the foal, in which Blue had stepped a few feet away from the sleeping colt, in order to drink from a nearby puddle. She gave a soft nicker in greeting as her stallion walked past her, towards the foal that lay behind her a few feet, however, didn't acknowledge the sound as he usually did. It was when her ears swiveled back to catch the quickening of the stallion's gait that she knew what was happening. Call it mother's intuition, but she knew. Her child was in trouble, and she was not happy about it.
By the time Blue had turned around and raced towards her child, it was nearly too late. Her stallion had picked up the fragile foal by the little scruff he had of a mane, and was flinging him around, somewhat like a limp rag-doll. Blue let out an ear-piercing cry in emotional agony, before slamming into the much larger brute, causing him to drop the foal, and whip his head around to latch onto her. The two fought, ferociously and violently, for quite the while, before Blue collapsed to the ground, exhausted. She was bloodied and broken, and as her head lay against the rough earth beneath her, her eyes flickered towards her foal, laying limp a few feet away from her. An overwhelming sadness overtook her as she looked at the tiny animal, and it was then, that Blue changed.
"Sorry, Love. You're step-father's offer was far too tempting." He offered with a mocking snort, before trotting off, tail high. It all came together for the tiny mare then and there; her old band stallion had offered this male a price, in order to ruin her. What that price was, she expected it to be a mare, or perhaps a rank in the herd. Blue couldn't be sure, but either way, she couldn't control how much it upset her. Since then, Blue has dissapeared, knowing well her mate thought her as good as dead. She's been wandering discreetly every since, trying to focus on better things.
NOTE: Sorry if this fails. Wrote it a while ago, and just edited it and added on the end.
