Name: Kiah -- "beautiful place" Species: Brumby x Waler Gender: Mare Age: 3 Appearance: Almost a buttermilk buckskin, Kiah is a lovely honey-coloured mare, with chocolate-coloured legs with an assortment of sock-lengths. Her face has a distinctive triangular blaze, covering the majority of her forehead and tapering down between her nostrils. She stands a little taller than your average brumby mare, with exceptional conformation. There is a brand on her left shoulder, "SB", for her breeder Sam Breen. Personality: Sweet and polite, Kiah makes a wonderful stockhorse. She takes a rider's direction easily, and has an uncanny natural ability when it comes to herding stock. Still being quite green, Kiah can be unsure of herself at times but with a rider's presence, she'll perform admirably. When it comes to other horses, she is quite ignorant in their ways, and finds it hard to read their intentions. The only horse she has spent much time with is her mother. The rest of the time, she is tethered or turned out with strangers. History: Born in captivity out of a brumby mare called Kessa and a Waler stallion named Cas to stockman Sam Breen, Kiah (known to her human owners as "Honey") is a delight for any human to ride. Broken in earlier this year, she excelled straight away at herding cattle, and was sold for a pleasant sum to a good drover working out of Cooma. Things were looking up for Kiah; a new home, a nice new owner, but then the unexpected happened. Riding out with cattle, her owner was camping in the bush for the night and come morning, he made a fatal rookie mistake: he forgot to check his boots before he put them on. Kiah waits for days for her owner to wake up, breaking her tether to find water within a day. Soon she had to accept that her kind owner was not going to wake, and had to come to the realisation that he was dead. The filly - spooked - ran into the bush, still tacked, hoping to find the trail back to town. Genes: Ee/Aa/CRcr Extra Comments: Omnonom, buckskinny goodnessss
