Tingara grazed a little above his herd, watching them with one eye and the entrance to the valley with the other. He watched each mare, each one he cared for deeply. Making sure that the familiar blue of Binda, spots of Crayola, dazzling white of Valatone, the grey of Myrrina and the two new roan guests were safe, he looked for his sons who were off a little way away playing as they always did. Tingara snorted and laughed, their endless energy never ceased to amaze him. He stretched out his body and began to doze peacefully in the golden rays of the mid-afternoon sun. His thoughts dwelled on the mysterious mare of Nevada’s that had revealed herself to him just yesterday. The body of the night like his but her mane had the touch of moonlight. From the distance she was stunning, Tingara wondered what she’d be like up close.

Warring cantered along easily through the woods, his head up and his ears pricked forward alertly. He was still seeking the king of the brumbies, he felt it would be wise, not to mention polite, to introduce himself before attempting to make a herd. He certainly didn't want to make an enemy of the king by accidently wandering into his territory and looking at his mares! He had stopped and talked to some of the brush creatures, and finally a lyre bird had told him that a black stallion that was called king of the brumbies lived with his herd in the next valley over. So Warring was making his way there, he could already smell the same scent that had floated down from the mountain top along with the king's proud call so hewas quite certain he was approaching the right place. He wondered how Waiiri was doing, and whether he had began to start his herd yet. He never would have guesed that the blue stallion had ended up running into the king before he himself had! Finally he came to the base of the last hill and looking up saw the shape of a black stallion grazing. "Hail O'Black Stallion, king of the surrounding brumby herds," he called, stopping a short distance from the slope "Greetings from I, Warring, of the Northern mountain range."

Another stallion! In an instant Tingara was alert but soon relaxed when the new stallion revealed himself as a friend. He gave the stranger a friendly greeting call and made his way over to him. “Good afternoon my friend,” Tingara bobbed his head in greeting. He was glad the younger one had announced his presence in the High Country to Tingara. The black stallion was still getting used to the responsibilities of being king, one of which was to know the stallions in the area. “What business do you have here in this country?” Tingara smiled and relaxed some more.
(Ooc: Lol 'A Stallion who calls himself king.' makes me feel guilty about having Tingara, who was chosen as king XD)

with head upflung, and nostrils quivering, myrrina stood turned to the north. the brumby mare trembled with excitement, half-hidden amidst the mottled trunks of candlebarks and eucalypts. the rest of the herd grazed on the sweet mountain grass that grew so thick here, sheltered from the worst of the winter storms by the steep granite-bound walls of the valley. from where he stood on the ridgeline of the valley, tingara watched over his herd of mares, and myrrina felt that same wonderment that had so drawn the brumby mare from the frigid waters of the double-lake and driven her south.
it was then that a big bay stallion emerged on the ridge near to where tingara stood. myrrina raised her head, wide-eyed and fearful. melting back into the cover of the trees, the mare called to him: this proud black stallion who possessed all the strength of the darkest winter night. beware, danger. yet the air did not fill with the screams of quarreling stallions, and the whistle of a bronze cuckoo told myrrina that all was well. ears pricked forwards, the mare moved out from under the branches of the trees, watching and waiting.
myrrina trotted forwards to greet the brumby stallion with the noble head and bright bay coat. a little nervous, the mare slowed to a walk, uncertain as to whether tingara would want his mares to seen by the stranger, though it would seem that this warring would have picked up their scent on the wind. "greetings warring of the north," she said, turning to tingara with a gentle nuzzle. there had been no herd for myrrina in those long, cold mountain winters, and she was still troubled by the other mares. but she hoped the stallion would see and understand.
ooc: tell me if you don't want me here, i just need to post with myrrina more. and also i made it so that she heard warring introduce himself so she knows his name and where he's from.

OOC: lol! sorry Tingara, I changed it to "a black stallion that was called king of the brumbies" so hopefully that's better for you and that's great, thanks Corowa you gave a very flattering depiction of Warring he thanks you he is noble...I shall have to use that description more often ------ BIC: Warring saw the black stallion tense and become immediately alert as he sensed his, Warring's, prescense. However, the stallion relaxed at Warring's friendly greeting and with a friendly call of his own, made his way down the hill towards Warring. Warring stood respectfully and proudly, yet not at all arrogant, as the king approached him, and dipped his head briefly in response to the stallion's greeting. What business do you have here in this country asked the other stallion. "I came here from my old territoy in hopes of starting a herd in this beautiful country," replied Warring. "Beware-danger!" called one of the black stallion's mares and Warring immediately swung his head in the direction of her call, but the birds still called peacefully and the mare must of have realized that he came in friendship because she cautiously began to make her way towards them. Greetings, Warring of the North said the mare when she reached them, turning to nuzzle Tingara. Warring dipped his head in greeting to her, "Greetings, fine mare of Tingara's" he replied pleasantly. -------- Kala too, had noticed the new brumby stallion, he was handsome, but this time, out of respect for Tingara (whom she liked a lot), she resisted the impulse to show off and flirt. She glanced at Jannali, who was grazing listlessly beside her, and nudged her half-sister gently once again, trying to shake her out of the miserable, gloomy state that had consumed her since the encounter with Nevada.

Valatone lifted her head to the stallion. Unlike Kala, she had no impulses, as she had been with Tingara for a while now. She had little curiousity about other stallions, all that mattered to her was Cobalt and Tingara. Speaking of Cobalt, where was he?
Cobalt dashed about in the rays of sunlight, springing from rock to rock. Every now-and-then he was lift up his front legs and let out a whinny like he always did. He had barely noticed Warring, until he grew tired of his game. Looking over at the new stallion, he let out another whinny and pawed at the ground, snorting. It was a little challenge, but nobody would notice it.

Binda raised her head in curiosity at the new stallion and surveyed him carefully. Hmm, regular looking bay colour, no roar of challenge, so, all seemed well. Sleepily, she wandered over near Valatone to graze, giving the two other roans a searching look first to make sure they didn't have any ideas, but they looked rather resigned.
Valatone looked around for Cobalt, and Binda realised she hadn't actually seen Burnum much of late and glanced over at Crayola to try and spot him. It was hard to even remember that he existed these days, it was almost like he took care of himself. Pfft, foals were easy to look after.

Burnum and Prisma had been too busy playing tail tag to notice the stranger come into their valley. Soon the excitement reached Prisma's ears and he nipped his brother sharply to stop playing and come look. The spotty colt led the ever obliging rusty colt to investigate the new guy. Prisma and Burnum sniffed at the bay stallions legs before Prisma backed away and issued a foal challenge. Burnum joined in, rearing and also bellowing a foal challenge at Warring.

When Burnum and Prisma raced past him, Baree finally noticed the new horse. Squealing excitedly, and pretending that he'd known that the stallion was there all along, Baree took off after the other colts, calling to Cobalt to follow as he scrambledup the hill. He reached the others in a whirlwind of energy and, noticing his "brothers'" challenges, immediately added one of his one, pawing the ground and blowing out "forcefully" through his nose. -------- The foals of the herd had noticed him by now, and Warring watched in amusement as two, then another two colts came charging up the hill towards him. The first two began to sniff him around the legs, and Warring stood patiently, allowing the colts to fulfill their curiousity. The colts backed off, and began to issue immature challenges, rearing up and whinnying at him. Warring couldn't help but duck his head and blow softly through his nostrils in amusement, although he made sure that the colts did not see. Only Tingara and Myrrina would have been able to see the laughing glint in his expressive brown eyes. When the foals had calmed down slightly, Warring turned back to Tingara and dipped his head respectfully "It was a pleasure to meet you, O' Tingara, king of the [fill in the blank-what are we calling these brumby herds? like Thowra was king of the cascade brumbies...]brumbies. If it suits you, I will, I will be on my way now. Thank you for your hospitality." Warring turned and nodded to Myrrina and the other mares behind her "And a pleasure to meet you all," he said, including the colts in his gesture.

Cobalt fallowed Baree. He too joined in, and the four colts challenged the stallion. Now he was leaving, but that didn't suit Cobalt. He dashed around the other side of Warring, blocking his exsit and did his little rearing performance again.
Valatone just watched from a distance, next to Binda. She hoped that he'd change as he grew older, and not be so...well, couragous. Dashing to challenge anyone when he felt like it. The mare knew he would, but she couldn't help but worry at the same time.
