OOC: Assuming Irawaddy and Coorah have nipped off to have their foals ^_^ IC:
Pushing snow from the ground, his nose numb from the cold, Nandalie was looking forward to the Spring. At least he and his mares had wintered well so far, though both mares had disappeared earlier that day, leaving him with the two yearling fillies. Anxious to keep them in sight, the strawberry roan stallion lifted his head and called Omaroo and Boorana closer. Despite them not being of his own blood, he always wanted the pair to be safe.
While their mothers were away on their own business, it was up to him to keep them entertained, though how one was supposed to do that was beyond the young stallion. Huffing, his breath steaming in the cold air, Nandalie began to scrape away the snow, leaving some grass open for the fillies to nibble at. By now, the grass was limp and pale, hardly worth eating. But with nothing else to eat in the barren time between the dead of winter and Spring, it was the best he could find for the growing fillies.

Ally had no idea why mum wasn't here, and felt sullen and grumpy because of it. The snow was fun to play in, but only if mum was there to say she couldn't play in it. And it was cold! Mum was usually like a furry hot water bottle, not that she knew what that was. When the stallion tried to interest her in the dead grass, the grulla filly turned up her muzzle and just stared out at the fields of snow. She felt really lonely. Ally had no idea that mum was so important to her, and felt like pining until she came back. Her flanks quivered; she had started to shiver.
OOC- sorry, no muse >.< I'll join Coorah's foal now

Omaroo trotted around the clearing, blowing through her nostrils and flicking her tail in irritation. She was bored. Where on earth could the two older mares have gone that she and Ally couldn't go? Argh. Kicking up her heels she wheeled around and bolted towards Ally, pretending to be scared by a small twig laying on the ground. She pranced around her friend, giving her a quick nip-asking to play. She then swung around to look at the red roan stallion, who was trying so desperately to entertain them (but failing miserably), and an impish grin corssed her face. While he wasn't looking she trotted back over to Ally, wickedly mischievous thoughts whirling through her head. What fun it would be if they could sneak off on Nandalie and have him search for them! Head held high she nickered to Ally, confiding her idea. They could go off in search of their mothers, and have a little fun of their own hiding from the big red stallion.

The grulla filly picked up one the feelings of her friend, and began to get irritable as well. She glared at any bush creature stupid enough to get in her way, and paced like a tiger in a cage, snorting every time she breathed out. Omaroo came up to her, and they exchanged ideas on how to blow off some steam and make some mischief. Ally giggled at the idea, and nodded, slowly and casually striding away, pretending to just being going off for a drink.

Delighted to have a partenar in crime, Omaroo followed the grulla filly towards the edge of the clearing, casually grazing closer and closer to the trees. At the edge, she stayed there for a while, making it seem as though she were simply looking to graze in the shade for a little while. Then, one step-two step, she was in the woods! And Nandalie still hadn't noticed them. Kicking her heels up in delight, Omaroo tore off along a path through the woods, Ally close on her heels.

OOC: Cascade Hut is probably better for a brumby drive =) I imagine theres already a lot of the pen already done from previous years. It would need repairing, of course. IC:
Nandalie was getting impatient for his mares to return. The yearling fillies didn't seem to want to have anything to do with him. The red roan wondered if they saw him as their father, or just a stallion. Would they want to go their own ways in another year, or would they decide to stay? Nandalie pondered some more, ripping up the stringy grass before he realised he was making the only sounds. Whipping his head up, the stallion looked around and to his dismay, saw no sigh of Omaroo and Ally.
Calling out to them, the adopted father began to sniff out their trails. It was difficult with so much slush on the ground, but it meant they'd left a decent trail. Torn between wanting to stay put for his mares and not wanting the fillies to get lost, Nandalie began to follow the trail away from the grazing area, hoping to round the two up nd get back before the mares returned.
