The clouds overhead cast a moody shadow over the lake, causing the dapples on Cobar's hide to swell with darkness. He stood before the wide expanse of water, his tawny figure carrying the essence of power. Head raised, ears pricked, nostrils widened, Cobar observed the land around him with all senses. After a moment of tense silence, the stallion flicked his tail to the two mares behind him. It was safe.
Cobar turned with a snort, breaking into a trot toward his new herd members. He was eager to get to just relax with them; he had been on high-alert during the journey here. Trotting in a circle around the two, Cobar shook his mane and teased them with soft nickers, showing his enthusiasm to play. A moment later the stallion lurched toward the black filly, before digging his hooves into the earth. Cobar's heavy body braced back before coming to a ragged halt. "And what's your name?" Cobar asked pleasantly, his eyes gleaming. Perhaps he wasn't acting completely mature, but being quiet and solemn all the time didn't sound appealing.
OOC: Ugh... bad post. Oh well; I was kinda distracted anyway. ^^

Omaroo watched curiously as the moon lit stallion trotted around them, tossing his mane playfully. She arched her neck and tossed her own head. The stallion lunged at her and she stepped back uncertainly, eyes showing their whites briefly. "And what's your name?" asked the buckskin and Omaroo blew out softly through her nostrils. "Omaroo," she answered, pricking her ears forward again and touching his nose with her own "It means 'beautiful place'. And what may we call you?"

Delighted in the mare's spirited return, Cobar lifted his foreleg and pawed once at the air. He momentarily caught the flash of fear in her eyes, and placated with a final huff through his nostrils. "Omaroo." Cobar grew silent for a long moment, caught in the elegance and steady flow of the word. "Omaroo... such a fine name." The stallion nodded his head, as if in approval. When the name's description was forked over, Cobar further appreciated the title. "And beautiful you may be." Then Omaroo asked the final question, one that Cobar was more than willing to answer: "And what may we call you?" The buckskin smiled, soon replying with, "Cobar." He paused momentarily, then carried on. "It means burnt earth; it's probably more for my coat than anything else." Cobar flicked his ears in the slightest display of embarrassment; he liked the way his name sounded, but its meaning was pale in comparison to Omaroo's.

She ducked her head, uncharacteristically shy as he complimented her name. "Thank you," she said, raising it again and nudging him gently. She noticed he appeared slightly embarassed by his own name but she liked it. He was right, it did seem to compliment his coat colour. "I think Cobar is a fine name," she returned, glancing at Ally. This was so exciting! They were really grown up now! Well..not really. They were still only two year olds, (and only barely just). Not yet even past the filly stage. Oh well, that just meant they could have more fun. She pranced excitedly, eager to be on the move or play a game.

The grulla filly was a bit disgruntled that so far she had been almost ignored, and was showing it by grazing with her back towards the other two horses. But of course he'd talk to Omaroo, of course she was prettier and better than a horse of blue and silver! Or that's how she saw herself, anyway. In reality, she was a typical grulla. Silvery-grey all over, with a darker head, bluish-black mane and tail and a dark stripe down her back. Of course, Grulla in itself was a rarae colour, but she was well-shaped horse all around, and that added to her colour made her a very special horse. The fact that she aacted like a kid would go away soon, but for now, Cobar was stuck with a very stubborn and playful filly. Even now, she snuck a look around at Omaroo, and danced up to her, giving her a nip on the withers before bouncing off like a crazy rocking horse. She whinnied to her friend, inviting her to play.

Cobar dipped his head graciously at her compliment. Having gathered enough information to keep him satisfied, the stallion diverted his gaze to steal glances at the other filly. A wry smile appeared on Cobar's face as he watched her playful antics. As the filly ducked close Cobar pawed playfully at her, a nicker escaping his nostrils. He, too, was eager to do something, to burn off some of his energy.
Cobar glanced slyly at the two fillies, then suddenly took off around the lake. The stallion's stride lengthened until he flew around the rim of the water, his muscles working in perfect unison. The mud sucked at his hooves as he ran, but his speed allowed him to stay ontop of the muck. But the mud still flew from his rapidly moving hooves, spraying onto his flanks and into the air behind him. Cobar kicked up his heels in a few bouncy jumps, as he beckoned the fillies to chase him. He thought of how pleased he was, of the feeling of triumph as the fillies had left their herd to follow a young and lonely soul. Life just seemed so much better when you could share it with someone else.

Omaroo jumped slightly as Ally nipped her on the shoulder. Spinning around she charged at her friend playfully, nipping her hindquarters as she passed. She noticed Cobar gallop away and promptly took off after him, calling for Ally to join in. When she was within a few feet of the buckskin stallion she suddenly veered off path and cantered into the shallow water of the lake, slowing to a trot with the tug of the water around her legs. She raised her legs high, prancing in the cool water and shaking her head as the water droplets from her hooves flung up near her face.

Allira reached down and pulled a mouthful of grass from the ground, and cantered after tjem, still holding it in her mouth. Her dappled buckskin stallion was already halfway around the lake, and she strove to catch up without straining herself. To her surprise, she did speed up, and was soon within a length of the big stallion. She squealed with delight and bounded to be next to him, reaching over and offering a bit of the grass for him to chew. She was going to dump it on his head, but after being so happy from reaslizing she was very fast, Ally felt a bit more charitable.

Cobar snorted in delight as the two ran after him; they both proved to be much faster than he had thought. The stallion swung his head around at the sound of a splash, and found that Omaroo was actually in the water! Cobar whinnied to her, encouraging her to go deeper. Suddenly the other filly zoomed up, and was apparently trying to offer him some grass. Cobar's eyes twinkled as he quickly snatched a blade, and gripped it with his lips. The stallion swung his head from side to side proudly, the grass poking out like a cigarette. Suddenly realizing he did not know this playful filly's name, Cobar tilted his head toward her inquisitively. But he didn't want to stop and get in conversation, so he veered toward the water. With a gigantic leap he propelled himself into the lake, the water's surface quaking and breaking up into tiny droplets. Cobar neighed to both fillies. He hoped the grulla would come in after him.

With a neigh Cobar encouraged her to go deeper and Omaroo rose eagerly to the challenge. She plunged forwards. wading deeper and deeper into the water until she actually had to paddle with her legs to keep herself afloat. Ordinarily the sensation would have frightened her, but she didn't want to look like a coward infront of Cobar and Ally so she stayed in the deeper water, paddling around. She found, to her great amusement, that if she dipped her head and blew into the water it made bubbles that frothed and tickled her nose. A gigantic splash alerted her to Cobar's prescense in the lake and she swam over to him, soaked right through with water and long mane floating behind on the surface of the water.
