Welcome to Kosciusko!
Kosciusko is based on the Silver Brumby book series.
Rather than being based on any particular book, Kosciusko is based in the same region as the first book, but the canon book characters are not present. In the era of Kosciusko, Thowra the great Silver King is long gone, as are most of his ancestors but his legend and those of his progeny live on. The brumbies at Kosciusko roam the same region, and encounter the same threats and adventures of the Ghost Horse.
We estimate the year is between 1900-1930 in terms of human development. Its a bit like the Wild West, Australian style. Men visit the High Country to graze their cattle and catch brumbies to tame. Chasing the wild brumbies on the backs of their stock horses and sometimes with dogs, men will catch brumbies with ropes and take them back to their huts to be domesticated and trained and often sold. Sometimes the brumbies escape, but more often than not, they are kept. Members can also play the men, but their numbers are limited.
The plot is quite free-form, with the occasional board-wide plot. Brumby drives, brushfires and other natural disasters keep the bush animals on their toes (or hooves).
As well as playing brumbies, you can also play other animals that you would find in this region on the outback such as:
Based in the Snowy Mountain region of South-Eastern Australia (click here for a map of the region with the Silver Brumby names), the terrain is very varied. Each RP board is a place that the brumbies in the Silver Brumby books live or discover. Descriptions of each place is given in the board description, but check out this thread for some pictures of the area and some of the animals you might find there: Wonders of the High Country
