Time had passed since she had left the herd; Aruna wasn't sure how long, for that time had grown hazy in her mind. Now Aruna was just focused on one thing: the little silver face that peered up at her. Her foal had a pale grey coat, the color of brewing clouds, and a dark stripe down her back that reminded Aruna of herself. Though the filly didn't have any noticeable traits at the age of five minutes, she did have a dark mane and tail. Aruna leaned forward to get a better look at a light spot around her tail, and found it colored white.
Satisfied with her inspections, Aruna began to lick lovingly at her foal's coat. Her foal. The mare shivered at the thought that had so suddenly come true. While her foal suckled hungrily for milk, Aruna pondered over her future name. Well, what did I think first when I saw her? Aruna paused from grooming for a moment, then suddenly something went off in her head. Clouds! The grulla mare nodded, pleased with the results of her brain-storming. "Mirrin... I shall call you Mirrin, my love." Aruna nickered softly to her foal, then slowly pulled away, as she beckoned Mirrin to follow. The filly didn't hesitate, for she was hungry, and Aruna realized that she had better wait. Mirrin needed her strength; Waiiri would have to see her later. Aruna ran her muzzle over the foal's fuzzy coat, and let her drink again.
What a wonderful creation she had been gifted with.

OOC: If I am not supposed to post here, just let me know...
Tarra Dinga trotted up to the horse smell that she had been tracking all day. It was the first sign of a herd for a long time and she didn't want to lose it. After skirting the man place, she finally made it out of the range of her previous herd and now found herself looking at a mare and her new foal.
This made her heart lighter and she nickered a greeting to the pair, "Hello, I am looking for a herd to join with." she announced right away, so that the mare wouldn't be nervous that she had other motives and become too protective to talk to her.

OOC: Nope, I'm really glad you posted. =D
A whiff of unfamiliar scent passed through Aruna's nostrils, causing her to jerk in surprise. Before she could study the smell further, a mare came over the rise, Startled, and fearful of the mare's intentions, she flicked her ears back. Aruna instinctively stepped in front of her newborn, her wary gaze locked onto the mare's figure. "Hello, I am looking for a herd to join with." Aruna relaxed slightly; she could see that this mare wasn't looking for trouble. "Well, what makes you think I know one?" Aruna's venomous tone was slightly unexpected, even to her. The mare shook her head at her sour reaction, and took a deep breath to clear her mind. "I can lead you to my herd." Her voice was noticeably lighter, though still reserved. Aruna realized that this mare could help her protect Mirrin, but she wasn't planning on becoming best friends with her. Thinking of her foal, she glanced down. The young silver-coated filly wobbled on her legs, and Aruna steadied her with a soft nudge. Was she strong enough to travel? "I don't know if we should leave yet..." Aruna mumbled to the mare, and half to herself. It was summer; there was no rush by the weather, but what about man? A shiver of fear went down her spine.

A little taken aback by the initial response, Dinga looked at the foal and realized what the mare meant. It was not even close to time for her to return to the herd yet with her newborn.
She swished her tail in thought, "Well," she began, in her diplomatic tone, "I could either stay by the creek with you and your foal, keeping a respectful distance until you return to the herd, or I could go look for it myself if that's what you would prefer."

Aruna took the mare's tone as in fact bossy, and glared sternly at her. It was all in her mind, of coarse; Aruna knew that, but she didn't care if she hurt anybody's feelings with a hard look. Suddenly a part of the mare's suggestion hit her: "respectful distance." Aruna lifted her head a notch, clearly pleased that the mare was catching on. After all, some pestering chatterbox was the last thing she needed.
Suddenly remembering that the mare was waiting for her response, Aruna tilted her head to the side; she hoped she appeared thoughtful. She felt Mirrin tremble beside her, and reassured her with a flick of her tail. "Mmph... Well, I suppose we can get going... So long as we can stop occasionally." Aruna nodded slightly as she spoke. She then turned briskly, ignoring the mare as she shuffled along. In the short rest they had taken, Mirrin had gathered strength. The filly was lifting her legs with a bit more spunk, though she still tried to drink frequently. Aruna paused momentarily to let Mirrin satisfy her hunger, then they were off again. Aruna couldn't wait to see Waiiri again, but she was aware that her newborn needed frequent rests; it was hardly fair to push her, being so young and weak.

Dinga sighed in relief, despite the fact that she had obviously not made a friend, she may have found a herd. Letting the couple get a decent lead on her, she began to slowly follow, pretending to be grazing when he two rested and acted disinterested, even though her pelt was prickling with anxiety at reaching a new herd.
