Moondah followed the line of the wooden trees, thee was nothing she could do to get out of this small pen, She started to canter, tossing her white head around, disagreeing about this pen. Or was it a hole? Moondah bucked and started going the opposite way. The woman had taken the snake off her neck or as Jesse called it a rope. But she found it a ridiculous word that the creatures called humans used. When the sun was melting away on her back she felt to hot to do anything more, lowering her nose to the soft sand that was covered all over the bottom of this 'hole'.
I looked around, their was no shade in this pen apart from the bars that had shadowed across the pit. I went over to them and gathered my legs under my pale pelt and fell into the ground. Laying on my side I felt the cool bars of shade run across my pelt, though it missed some spots, Moondah felt better, instead of being in sweltering hot she was in comfortable bits of shade. She noticed no other horse around, but that might of been because she wasn't paying attention to anything outside her pen walls. Resting her cremello face on the cool/hot sand she sighed and flicked her tail every so often.

The mare that had accidentally, or without knowing, tricked the other mare into captivity, was quite happy. She had a new friend, who wasn't male, like that irksome colt that everyone loved, and who was also quite a catch for Alison. Not many could capture a mare with that colouring, and who seemed to not even know that she should be afraid. Brumbies were naturally terrified of being trapped, after having survived so long by moving about. Jesse trotted to her side of the fence that was the side of Moondah's fence that she was lying down beneath, and reached down to bump her with her nose. "Are you okay?" she asked curiously, twitching her ears back and forth.

Moondah heard the earth move, flickering her ears lightly she then jumped at Jesse's voice, making her pull upwards. When she was up Moondah shook the sand off her white pelt, though some stuck to her side she answered "Its to hot, don't they have trees here?" she looked about, there were no trees in her hole, did Jesse get any. Moondah looked about again and asked "Where are the other horses" their was a small shack sitting near her as she looked over to it. She had only seen Jesse, no one else, were they all going to get chased down then? Tossing her head away from the irritating blow flies, Moondah found a small round contraption that held water, putting her head in it she drank deeply, the heat was exculpating here, she missed that shade more then she knew.

The bay was going to answer her questions, but a loud clanging noise attracted her attention. turning around, Jesse saw Alison approaching the two horses, a bucket of feed in one hand and a bridle in the other. She whinnied and trotted to the side of the fence to meet her, happy as always. Alison slung the bridle over the fence and stroked Jesse gently while having a good look at the new horse. Apparently it was unhappy with the exposure to the sun, but she couldn't see any way of finding shade unless it wanted to be in the boiling-hot shed. After reassuring her main horse, Alison picked up the bridle again and moved to the side of the cremello's pen. "Heya, pretty girl. Want some food?" she asked, holding out the bucket and once again slinging the bridle over the fence to keep it out of the way.

Jesse wandered away, Moondah distracted herself as she wandered away to the other side of her hole, rubbing her head against the trees that were on their side. Her mane fell down her shoulders. Moondah didn't bother watching them, she rested her head against the rails and looked outward. She heard something rattle, her head jerked up and her front hoof lifted up off the ground. The creature was standing next to the hole,s eh had something near it. Shaking her head she refused i at first, walking as far away from her as she could, feeling the heat of the day melting away on her back. The thing she was holding something that had a beautiful aroma to it, making her ears always flicker in her direction every so often. Soon she felt to sluggish not to go over to her water bowl. And it was right beside her, she hadn't done anything to her so she moved slowly over to it and drank deeply. Her head was near the bucket so she looked into it, breathing out and scattering the small objects inside, biting it lightly she could feel the rush of the sweet sensation through her mouth as she touched the food. It was delicious! She forgot the human and started to devour it, well it had been a long time since she had last eaten.

Jesse munched on a hidden hand of feed that Alison had held out for her while she was being stroked, not particularly worried about how the wild mare was acting. Instead, she was watching the skies, imagining shaped in the clouds and pretending to make omens out of the bird's flight. It was surprisingly entertaining to think such thoughts. Alison grinned when the pretty mare ate from her bucket of feed, and while she was distracted, hung the bucket off the fence so she had her hands free aand picked up the bridle. While the mare was paying complete attention to the food, she very gently and quickly latched the bridle onto her pretty face, stroking the forehead as she did so. Then she stood back to watch all hell break loose, if this was a regular brumby.
