Tharra ducked his shoulder just in time to avoid a wither lock by the other stallion but it was a close deal. As it was he got a nasty gash from the other stallion's teeth down his withers. As he flexed his muscles to launch himself back at the grullo he could feel the blood begin to run down his shoulder. That was bound to feel nasty later. Shaking it off, he feinted to the left then sprung at the grullo's right flank, teeth bared in an effort to inflict a similarly nasty wound to the other stallion's silken grey hide. ------ Trembling, Garaweh had unconciously moved closer to Balendin, standing beside her, his eyes also locked onto the fight. He was no longer thinking about how beautiful she was, now his thoughts were full of concern for his brother's safety and distress at the tension that permeated the clearing.

Even though Taree didn't get a good lock on the others withers, he could feel his teeth slice through the others skin. Feeling a little smug at that he darted backwards, eyeing off the wound he'd created on Tharra. The crimson liquid started to flow from it. Even better, he thought to himself.
Taree was young and ignorant, he'd almost forgotten that he was fighting when the other darted toward him with his teeth bared viciously. Flattening his ears, he leaped, rearing and jumping into the air at the same time. He kicked his right hind hoof out at Tharra, hopefully connecting with something hard. But Taree hadn't made the move before Tharra had cut through his right flank. Taree cursed under his breath, feeling the slight tingle of pain run across his grullo coat. It was then he noticed Garraweh getting closer to Balendin. No. He snapped his teeth, making a loud clapping sound in his direction, it was a warning, before he turned his attention back to Tharra.

Balendin barely noticed as Garaweh shifted closer to her. She could sense he ment her no harm; he was probably worried about his brother. The mare winced as she saw both stallions' wounds. She jumped slightly as Taree snapped his teeth at the colt beside her.

Garaweh jumped at Taree's teeth suddenly snapped in his dierction, but did not move from his position beside Balendin. He was startled to see how close he had come to her, but he meant her no harm and he did not wish her to think that he was threatening in anyway. Moving away would only convince her that Taree had needed to protect her. He stood awkwardly beside her, legs braced, head flung up high still watching the ongoing battle. -------------- Tharra was also inexpirenced. The two stallion were equally matched, this was not going to be an easy fight to win. It would surely come down to being in the right place at the right, to timing the final convincing blow. As he realised that his teeth had drawn blood on Taree's flank he squealed in satisfaction, revenge for the wound still bleeding across his shoulder. He noticed the grullo snap at Garaweh and squealed angrily, there was no need to bring the colt into this. Lunging at Taree, he aimed for the stallion's neck, teeth bared in an effort to catch Taree's crest and hopefully shake him.

Taree turned his attention back to Tharra quickerly, hearing his squeal at his warning snap. Taree had no time to feel even a tad bit smug, Tharra was already rushing toward him, his teeth bared. Taree tremebled in excitement. He'd never been a fight before, he didn't know what to expect, this was all new to him. And it looked as though it was all new to Tharra as well.
Tharra lunged at Taree, trying to aim for his neck. Instead of turning to run, Taree turned his body to face the upcoming colt. His wide chest expanding as he took a deep breath. He threw his head up in the air, returning Tharra's squeal with his own, high pitched one, he reared up, striking his front hooves out at him, while at the same time his own teeth snapped.

Balendin held her breath as Taree reared up. She could hardly bear to look. Was Tharra about to be seriously injured, or wose still, killed?

Tharra was in the wrong place at the wrong time. In his haste his hoof caught a rock and he stumbled forward into the stallion, crashing with head bent, staight into the grullo's muscular chest. The grullo had been in mid rear, and as his legs came down they battered the Tharra's back, bruising his skin. Dizzy, Tharra backed up, shaking his head. That had been some collision. He was about to launch another attack when Garaweh's worried whinny met his ears. The colt was telling him to retreat, to leave now while he still could without too much damage. Tharra hesitated, torn.

Tharra lost control of his wreckless gallop, stumbling over a rock. Taree squealed in fright, but didn't have much time to react, except to smash his legs down when Tharra came tumbling into him. The blow hadn't just left Tharra staggering; Taree was breathing heavily from the impact on his chest. He stumbled backwards. Shaking his head in attempt to rid himself of the pain in his chest. His black mane wrapped wildly around his neck and face, blinding him for a moment. When he could see again, Taree caught eye of Garraweh. The colt seemed to be worrying over Tharra, Taree glanced back to see the other horse was about another attack, only to be stopped by Garraweh's small, panicky neigh. Ears pricked, Taree watched Tharra cautiously. His earlier adrenaline dying out slowly. Taree didn't want to hurt Tharra too much, this was Taree's first proper battle after all. What good would it do to kill his opponent? Taree shook his head, ridding himself of the thought, he was not a killer! But he wasn't about to back down, the silver filly was within arms length right now. Taree nickered softly at Garraweh, it was an almost reassuring gesture, very unlike his last little snap. He would not hurt Tharra too bad. Atleast the horse would be able to get up and move about afterwards. There would be no broken bones, or crumbled bodies. Just a few cuts and bruises, battle scars to carry with them forever.

Balendin sensed that the fight would soon be over. The two young stallions wern't going to kill eachother, she knew that now. She waited, pawing the ground nervously.

Tharra, too, was no killer. Nor did he wish to be killed in his first ever battle. His body ached, and recogizning defeat, he bowed his head briefly to his opponent. "You win, Taree." he said "For now I shall leave you in peace." He turned to Balendin "You are a beautiful mare, take care, for it will not only be us three stallions who show interest in claiming you, and many stallions would not be gentle in their attempt to do so." Then the queer coloured chestnut moved to his half-brother, nuzzling him reassuringly, before the two took their leave, fading into the bush.
