OOC: Tex / Yaruka, this is Baragoola's thread for her to meet up with Nowego and Yaruka if they want.
The boggy plain was peaceful and quiet in the early dawning. The chorus of bird song filly the air, and mist hung low over the ground, blurring shapes together and turning golden where the sun's rays touched it. A shadowy wraith of a mare padded silently through the valley, cautious of the deadly bogs and swampy pools that were made even more dangerous by the melting snow and rushing water. Occasionally she dropped her head to graze, but always on the alert as if she thought that danger was around every corner. Baragoola doubted that she would meet other horses here, and knew that she would disturb no one here in this strange mist. All the same, she couldn't help but jump every time a bird chirped near her, or a snuffling wombat bumbled past or when a wallaby's tail brushed her foot. Being cautious was her nature, and he couldn;t shake the feeling that she wasn't alone here.

Koora skirted along the edge of the Boggy trying desperately to avoid the God damn mud. The last time he’d been here it had taken him and Balun ages to groom all of the stuff off completely. The stallion shook his sun coloured mane in annoyance, taking a moment to admire it glittering in the sun. Damn he was good looking especially when the sun hit his coat and made it look almost like it was the embodiment of the sun on earth. That’s what he thought anyway. The sun stallion had returned to the Boggy, a place he loathed, in an attempt to find his travelling companion. He wouldn’t admit it but Koora missed the nightrunner stallion.
Noisily and clumsily Koora travelled further into the Boggy. The further he went the more the ground began to trick him. How dare it. Several times he placed his feet onto what seemed like a solid patch of land only to fall through the snowgrass into a deep puddle of mud. Unimpressed at being half covered in mud the gold stallion snorted and voiced his frustration in a loud neigh. He was muddy and wet and it detracted from his beauty which was more than annoying.
Snorting as he went Koora was almost too self-absorbed in his ‘problems’ to see that he was not alone. He jumped at the sight of the mare then gathered himself again, trying to find a good sunny spot to stand in. Not that much of his coat could be seen underneath the mud caked on it. “Hi I’m Koora and I’m passing through here looking for a friend, what are you doing here in this awfully muddy place? What’s your name?” he chattered wandering over to the mare. The stallion extended his nose and sniffed at her. It was his way of being friendly but it may have been a little overbearing.

The bird chorus was quite beautiful on such on early morning...more than Pirilah would say for the actual boggy. She hated the horrible mud and snow, making her beautiful pinto coat stained and mucky. Despirately avoiding all puddles, it was rather hard to do in the middle of the thick fog. She could barely see in front of her. Then one of her feathered hooves struck a mud puddle. Snorting, she wrenched it out with one big pull. Bleh...oh well, there was gonna be food here for quite a while until the real snow came.
Flicking her pale cream mane, the daughter of Garrong and Kinta walked her way through the fog and out onto more flats of grass. All this time and she hadn't visited her parents since the brumby run? She was fully aware that many had been caught, and those two would of been no acception. She wasn't exacly joyful about her parents anyway. She had a rather teenage-attitude towards them both, mainly her mother though.
Feeling the shrubs of the wild country touching her black and white coat, Pirilah became aware that she had stepped into some cover of bush. Just then, she heard a stallion's voice, talking to someone else. So she wasn't alone? The fog was beginning to clear where she was, and she could make out a golden stallion...and another figure. She couldn't make out the other one, but it was a mare, she could see that much. Tossing her mane prissily, she decided to make herself clear with a loud whinny.

A stallion made his own way through the likewise misty morning, his dark mane and tail waving from side to side as he jogged, occasionally looking over his shoulder to make sure that Yaruka was following. He was now sure that the beautiful mare wanted to stay with him, and he was glad, though it was still a bit lonely with just the two of them. He wished he could find someone else to join their family, but no-one had been willing anymore, as they were too busy trying to find loved ones and relatives after the hunt that he and Yaruka had manged to avoid, due to his attention to the morning news as said by the Gang-Gangs that flew overhead. Some loud noises caught his attention, and he looked to the side, past trees with their unmistakeable 'beard' blocking their own coats from the strangers. A stallion much like himself was speaking to a rather pretty mare, whose colour he could not quite decide to name. Yet another horse was watching, and by the scent was a female. Nowego sniffed at Yaruka's nose, almost questioningly, before he cantered into the open, whinnying loudly in half-challenge-half-call to play. He had decided that he liked this strange mare, and was ready to challenge the colt is he needed to, but really didn't want to make a fuss, especially with a horse smaller than himself. A clear whinny made him half-turn his head, to see another horse, that mare from before, whose coat was black and white in splashes, much like the snowy mountain-tops in winter. He decided to let Yaruka go where she wanted, and nudged her nose before turning back to the other stallion.

All of a sudden, Baragoola's peace was broken by a yelling and crashing horse coming in her direction and it sounded like a stallion too. He was so preoccupied that he almost crashed into her. Even though Baragoola was used to being ignored and going under the radar, no one had actually almost collided with her before! Baragoola was so surprised in fact that she didn't even move away. She just stood there blinking innocently with big, wide eyes. “Hi I’m Koora and I’m passing through here looking for a friend, what are you doing here in this awfully muddy place? What’s your name?” said the stallion in an upbeat tone, extending his nose to her. Baragoola on the other hand was still standing rooted to the spot as stiff as a board. "I...am Baragoola," she managed to stutter, her polite nature the only thing keeping her talking. She was still rather stunned; she did not even care to mention that she had been born here or that her name meant Flood Tide.
Then another whinny pierced the morning's tranquility and Baragoola threw her head up wildly. She hated crowds and noise, and all of this unexpected action was beginning to upset her. Baragoola had always been a quiet, kind horse who hated being in the spotlight. She began to tremble rather violently, as that was what she tended to do when she was feeling slightly claustrophobic and nervous. What was the world coming to? Horses seemed to be appearing everywhere, and Baragoola was starting to wonder if she was only hallucinating.

Whoa where were all these horses coming from? Out of nowhere appeared some ugly dun or buckskin, Koora didn’t really care what he was. What he really was, was an intruder. He hadn’t given Koora even the slightest chance to make friends with the mare or ask her whether she’d seen Balun anywhere. The sun stallion snorted indignantly at the intruding stallion, he should realise how rude it was to butt in on other horses’ conversations. “What do you want stranger?” he questioned loudly, subtly putting himself between Nowego and Baragoola. He’d seen her first and he wanted to talk to her. Who knew, maybe they two of them could have travelled together? Koora had begun to get lonely but now he may never know.
He answered the strangers call with a challenge of his own. The sun was high in the sky and Koora felt full of life and energy, like he could take on anyone. If Koora had been standing on more even ground Nowego would have seen the sun stallion was the same height as he. This surprise was something Koora wanted to keep hidden in case things took a direction to the fighting side of things. He glared at the other stallion, pawed the ground and lay his ears flat on his neck. It was clear he was in no mood to play especially where Baragoola was concerned.

It seemed that the other horse was a either a fool, young or had way too much energy to burn off. He did not back down from his challenge, and though Nowego had seen the two horses speak before, he did not care. If the horse needed directions, he could ask one of the bush creatures. Since Nowego had seen the pretty mare, without any male with her, he had fully decided to ask her with him, and he now saw this other horse as a threat to the mare he wanted with him. He did not fail to see the other horse subtly moving to be in front of the mare, and this made him angry. "I want to speak to this young mare, young stranger," Nowego answered, putting emphasis on young. Sure, the other horse was as big as he was, but he could tell the small differences between them. Nowego was a medium-sized horse, built for a cross of strength and speed. He could run quickly if he needed to, but strength was easier for him than running. There must have been a stock horse or two in his bloodlines, as his feet were slightly feathered and were slightly heavier as well than the usual brumby. His tail flagged too, and his ears curved inwards. Nowego seemed to be spoiling for a fight, and he could tell that the stranger was too. "Before things get ugly," he announced, "My name is Nowego, for the sun."

Baragoola heard the loud, ringing challenge from a stallion nearby, and all of a sudden a buckskin stallion burst from some scrubby bushes. Koora, the stallion who had introduced himself before, began sizing up the new comer, and let out his own ringing reply. Baragoola was trembling violently by now; she hated feeling crowded, she hated loud noises, and most of all he hated fighting. And here were two stallions right in front of her that looked as though they were going to fight it out, just to see who would have the right to talk to her.
The golden palomino demanded to know what the other stallion wanted and he stepped in front of her, as if to protect her. "I want to speak to this young mare, young stranger," replied the buckskin, and Baragoola’s eyes were constantly flicking between the two. After a while her head started to spin, whether from the nervousness or the amount of concentration required from following the stallions’ subtle signals she did not know, but she shook her head to clear it anyway.
Silently, she began to shrink back into the tall grasses and shrubs surrounding her, drift back into the mist in fear, as a fight now looked inevitable, and she had no intention of sticking around; to see their hooves striking flesh, their breaths sobbing, nostrils flaring, dust and sweat and blood… She could not cope with that, and she had to restrain herself from turning tail and running in terror.

Yaruka had remained hidden in the brush behind Nowego, her shy nature leading her to prefer to keep out of the spotlight. If it had just been the one mare than she probably would have come out to introduce herself, but three other horses in the boggy of all places-that was unprecedented and the chestnut mare did not like it. She was not unattentive to the conversation going in the clearing however, and was the first to notice the grulla's stress and retreat. Feeling a suidden pang of sympathy for the other mare, Yaruka slipped around the small opening, keeping to the cover of the brush and walking as silently as a ghost horse, or one of thsoe legendary silver brumbies. She made her way to where the grulla had hidden and, hesitating only slightly, stepped out of her cover to greet the mare with a quiet nicker. "I am Yaruaka," she said "Named for the light that plays on my coat. May I ask your own name?" She stood quietly, a few feet from the other brumby to give her space, and waited for the mare's answer.
