OOC: I wonder what Opal's plan is... *looks at her suspiciously*
Jirrand watched as best he could as the blood bay reared up; challenging him again. Already he was beginning to have second thoughts; this stallion looked ruthless and the sun was actually starting to bother him somewhat. If he ever fought in the daytime before; he always opened his red eye, and despite the pain and over saturation of everything he saw, he could at least detect movement and knew when a stallion was coming for him. But this bright early morning sunshine was at the worst angle possible; it shone straight into both his eyes, and even his blue eye was having difficulty. He was even thinking about backing out and coming back later at night when the moon would be high and the stars would light the battlefield only for a horse of the night, but then the stallion roared, "Come and fight, colt!"
Anger flooded through Jirrand. He was not a colt! He was a stallion! Could this other not see that? He responded with a deep thrilling challenge laced with determination and malice. Adrenaline coursed though him and he knew that there was no way that he could bare to run away now. That was an insult he was going to have to rectify; virtually blind or no.
He noticed with satisfaction that the pretty chestnut mare was also looking at him. At least she could see him for what he truly was! Jirrand could not care less that this stallion was probably twice his age; he knew enough about fighting not to get himself killed if he lost. But then his thoughts flickered back to dear Tallerk. She had been so strong at his side lately; her depression forgotten, but always seemed somewhat fragile after he ever went away. Losing this fight might mean losing her. And then she would slip back into that deep dark hole of misery again; perhaps never to return. For he knew that what they shared was an understanding and empathy that no two other horses truly ever could. Fighting this stallion was risking Tallerk… But what if he lost? Jirrand shook his mane determinedly; he knew that if he lost, he would get Tallerk back, one way or another; and take the pretty chestnut mare with him! He was growing stronger by the day; and surely this stallion had already reached his peak; and passed it? He would win both mares; he was sure of it.

Kaie saw that the other stallion was working himself up into a frenzy; he was probably thinking about taking Sia, amoung other things. Fury sparked inside him. This stallion would never get to his beloved mate! Calming himself, he darted forward and gave his enemy a swift bite, not meant to puncture the skin but to just cause momentary pain.

The bay stallion darted forward suddenly just at the wrong moment; and viciously bit Jirrand while the sun flashed in his eyes, blinding him and leaving bright spots in front of him. But that bite pinched and hurt. His eyes rolled; and instead of thinking clearly and retreating until nightfall, Jirrand lashed out in retaliation - not sure if he meant to connect with the other stallion at all.
He was trying to get himself out of the sun; at least have it so that it was on his back and not in his face, but that was the direction that the chestnut mare was standing and the blood bay surely would prevent him from getting around. The sun would have been a disadvantage for any horse; but for him and his eye in particular, it would cause severe pain to open it now, even ignoring the bright blindness caused by the direct sunlight. Normally when he fought other stallions in the daylight hours he opened his red eye; so he could detect movement, but considering he was having trouble seeing out of his blue eye; he doubted it would make much difference. He would just have to hope that the other stallion would not notice his tightly shut eye.

OOC: Well, it's not really a plan per se.... I was just thinking that Tallerk could stay with Kaie for a while, you know, go a little crazy perhaps. xP We'll see how it goes.
Tallerk watched on with wild eyes and flaring nostrils. Her blood burned fiercely in her veins, and raw, untamed energy made her limbs tremble, as if they did not know what to do with such a rush. She was in a state that some might call "crazy," where logic looses its hold, and one falls to compulsion and momentary need. Something in the back of Tallerk's mind had remained stable, though, and this was her trust in Jirrand. She knew he was up there, fighting, and for some reason she also knew he would win. Memories flashed in her mind now; she saw him, a nightrunner, dancing savagely in the moonlight, sending his opponent away with strike upon strike. She saw him floating mysteriously down an impossible cliff, his white tail streaming, his great muscles flexing, his hooves barely touching the ground. She heard him, too; he released a great and awesome cry, his clarion call sending shivers down her spine.
He would win.
Tallerk saw blurred movements; a flash of red bay, the twist of white. What was happening? The brown mare shifted restlessly, a squeal touching her lips, but dyeing in her throat. The strong sunlight did not touch Tallerk, as she hid like a ghost among the forest shadows, but it seemed to flash off the stallion's bodies, distorting them in her eyes. She always knew which one was Jirrand, thanks to his sharp white hide, but she could not tell what he was doing. So Tallerk had to cope with seeing only the fringes of the battle, her muscles strung with anxiety. Jirrand would return to her soon, just as before; she would rest on his shoulders, and everything would be all right.

Kaie dodged aside as Jirrad's hoof came through the air towards him. It scraped along his side, leavig a thin gash. He snorted and gripped his rival's withers in his mouth, jerking his head from side-to-side violently.

OOC: That’s cool Opal - I was guessing as much. Jirrand needs to get into some training so that he can get her back, and having mares with him while he’s doing that is kinda risky. Also Ballie; what did I say about not killing him!!!! Poor Jirrand
Jirrand was surprised that his foot made contact with the other stallion, but knew that he hadn’t cut him deep. It was incredibly difficult to land any proper blows when you couldn’t even see your opponent. Jirrand was already beginning to think this was a bad idea, and was contemplating returning to Tallerk and try again tonight. Perhaps then the stallion would be asleep too - and with the interest the chestnut mare had showed he was sure it would not be a hard task to lure her away without a fuss…
But then the blood bay launched himself at Jirrand and attached his teeth to his withers and began shaking furiously. Jirrand screamed in both pain and fury; mostly fury, and a red mask of anger clouded his reasoning once more. He planted his hooves onto hard earth and wrenched himself from the blood bay’s grip, lashing out with his teeth as he did so.

OOC;Sorry, I don't intend to kill him. It was the only move I could think of. And I'm willing to let Tallerk & Jirrad stay together. Kaie just wants to protect Sia, and he certainly does not wish to lose her!
BIC: Kaie heard the snap of the other stallion's teeth, but it did not stop his ear from getting bitten. a thin trickle of blood running down his face, he kicked at the Jirrad with the flat of a hoof.

Sia shivered in both excitement and in pure fear for both the stallions. She didn't want them to be hurt all over her. Kaie then lunged forward toward the white stallion, biting him. The white seemed to be having troubles, but Sia couldn't work out what it was, especially when he kicked out at Kaie.
She wanted the white to win...but she also wanted Kaie to win...that mysterious stallion and that boof headed one. She gasped when Kaie gripped the other on the wither and began to shake him violently. Would Kaie win after all? He surely knew how to pack a punch. But Sia guessed the other stallion did also. Sia could see blood on both the stallions now. She wanted to cry out "STOP" but knew it wouldn't do anything but hurt her overwhelming pride.
OOC|| Sorry for the crappy post..also it would be very interesting if Kaie kept Tallerk with him..cause like while Jirrands all depressed or whatever, Kambigo could find him. xD And Sia could try and help Tallerk back to Jirrand without Kaie knowing lol...i don't know, i thought i just might add that lol.

OOC: Yeah; Jirrand has a whole heap of plot that he needs to follow and that is easier without mares... He needs to bulk up a lot more for example and such. And yes, he does have that appointment with Kambigo... So I personally don't mind which ever way it goes (Jirrand does though; but sine I'M in control of his life...)
Jirrand’s teeth snapped painfully together; still managing to clip the other’s ear. Not that a cut on his ear was going to de much damage to anything but his appearance, thought Jirrand bitterly. The sunlight was still causing him problems; so he did not even notice the bay’s hoof sailing through the air and hitting him square on in the chest. Although it did not cut his skin; Jirrand knew that it would leave a wicked bruise later on.
But the tiniest hint of wind brought a scent to him that he would know anywhere. Tallerk was nearby. But if she was nearby; the blood bay was sure to take her if he won! Jirrand did not know how he could bare that; to lose both the prospective chestnut and dear Tallerk. And what of Tallerk? Jirrand was well aware of Tallerk’s fragile mental state, and also knew that he was one of the few, if not the only one who could save her from that crushing depression. And she was to have a foal too! The more Jirrand thought of losing Tallerk and her unborn foal; the more his heart beat with the need to win for her, and he was so upset that he felt like weeping. But one thing that Tallerk had also done was distract him.

Kaie noticed the other stallion's distracted state and rammed into the other stallion, pushing with all his might, hoping to push Jirrad to the ground.
