A delighted whinny rang from the bushes. A grulla mare stepped out, a small filly stumbling by her side. Aruna stepped briskly forward, eager to see Waiirri again, eager to show her beautiful filly to him. As she approached she pressed her muzzle into the stallion's mane, and breathed in softly. She was home again. Out if the corner of her eye she saw Mirrin look up, her bright eyes gazing at Waiirri with curiosity. Aruna swished her tail lovingly at the filly, as she whispered to Waiirri, "Her name is Mirrin, for the clouds in the sky." Aruna paused, suddenly remembering something. "Oh yes, and I brought some kinda mare with me." Aruna glanced at the place where she had emerged, expecting the mare to pop up at any moment. But once again Aruna paused, raising her head to smell the air. "Does anyone else smell skunk?" Aruna snorted to get the smell out of her nostrils, and once again buried her nose in Waiirri's mane. Mirrin ducked under her belly, visibly tired from the journey back.

Pinning her ears at the rude mare, Dinga followed a few moments after her. 'Some kinda mare?' she thought, snorting. Her eyes took in the herd, letting the feeling of loneliness and annoyance roll off of her. Her ears perked and nostrils flared, Dinga looked for the lead stallion.

Doowi stepped back in confusion as Aruna reappeared, burying her muzzle in Waiirri's mane, and immediately taking over the situation. The creamy mare snorted in an unidentafiably emotional way, and began to graze, letting the otehr horses fawn over the new filly, who she had to admit, was positively gorgeous.
The pale mare wasn't very happy with staying behind the trees, away from the group of horses, but was equally hesitant to announce her presence to them. If she went to them, which Nirrike had decided to do eventually, she wouldn't be able to be by herself for a long time, perhaps never. But if she stayed out here, by herself, then bad things might happen to her. She snorted nervously, unaware of her sound being carried everywhere by the enthusiastic wind, and danced on the spot out of pure frustration.

Dinga noticed the nervous sounding mare snorting and dancing, and since it was obvious that the new mother wasn't welcoming her, she decided to try and make a friend.
"Hello," she nickered a greeting, "I'm Dinga and want to try and join your herd."
Her ears swiveled, unsure of why the mare looked so unhappy, "What's wrong?"

OOC: hey Latymier, just an fyi -usually it's best to wait for everyone to reply before posting again just letting you know BIC: Waiirri was standing calmly beside Doowi when from out of the bushes emerged Aruna and a delicate little filly. Nickering delightedly he moved forward to greet them, nuzzling Aruna then reaching down to snuff gently at his first daughter. "She is beautiful," he said to Aruna "And Mirrin is a wonderful name. You should be very proud." He nibbled gently at the base of Aruna's mane, flicking his ears to catch her next words. He raised his head as she mentioned the other mare and sure enough, out from the brush stepped another. Nuzzling Aruna again he caught sight of Doowi moving away out the corner of his eye. He sighed. It seemed she was offended again. Feeling it best to allow Doowi some space for a couple minutes he walked forward to greet the other mare. Stopping a few feet from her he nickered "Welcome stranger," he said "What brings you here? I am Waiirri, named for the sky, and this is my herd." A more cautious stallion might have been suspicious of a random mare turning up but to Waiirri she was just another guest. Besides, she had come with Aruna, obviously there was no stallion with her. He had always considered the grulla mare to be quite sensible and trusted her judgement, even though she didn't sound all too thrilled with her new aquaintence. As he waited for the new mare to reply the sound of another horse, carried on the wind, met his ears. Curiously he raised his head, ears pricked forward and quivering. Scenting the air he realized it was the lipazzaner mare again. Waiirri snorted softly, partly from frusteration. He had already decided not to go to the grey again-the last time he had approached her she had run off and he didn't need that agian, especially not in front of three mares and two foals. Besides, he didn't want to scare her off. No, better simply to wait for now.

Aruna let out a little trill of pleasure as Waiirri saw his daughter for the first time, as he showered her with complements and ran his muzzle through her mane. She nicked humorously as Mirrin nipped at Waiiri's muzzle; silly chap, so spirited and playful. She basked in the happiness of that moment, unbothered by the mares around her. But suddenly Waiirri sighed; Aruna looked at him curiously, and saw a look of disappointment on his face. A jolt of fear shot through Aruna for a second. Was there something wrong with Mirrin? Then it clicked: Waiirri was simply worried about Doowi. Aruna let her emotions settled with deep breath, and turned her mind away from her stallion's worries. In Aruna's mind, she just thought that Doowi should toughen up and get over it.
As expected, the new mare turned up. Aruna glanced briefly at her, and busied herself with nuzzling Mirrin as Waiirri stepped away. As Aruna breathed softly on Mirrin fuzzy silver coat, the filly turned and rubbed her head on her muzzle. Aruna nickered softly, touched by the simple sign of affection. It made her heart swell with pride. Suddenly something tainted the breeze, and Aruna lifted her head to further analyze it. Fear tingled along her spine; had man found them at last? But the scent was of brumby, not man. Aruna's face took on a look of disgust as she recognized the scent of the lipazzaner mare. "I knew I smelled skunk," Aruna loudly announced, laughing inwardly as she imagined how the lipazzaner would take the not-so-kind comment.

Doowi wasn't exactly happy, but she wasn't depressed now, either. That other mare wasn't very nice, but if Warri liked her, then she'd deal with it. A familiar scent floated past her nose, and she half-sniffed at it, curious. However, it seemed to just be of that nice mare they had met before, and she lowered her head again, grazing in a way that looked as if she was quite happy.
The pale mare, Nirrike, had finally realized that she had been caught out. They could smell her, and her dancing steps had now alerted them to her presence. She tossed her head, and decided to make a decision the way she usually did. Which was by not thinking and going for it. With her head high, the pale mare trotted towards the group, flagging her tail and standing in a nervous, but excited position.

Dinga turned toward Waiirri again, swishing her tail, "I am Dinga and am looking for a herd to join." she nickered, "I ran into this mare having just given birth and asked where her herd was. She led me here." she explained.
Her cautious eyes looked at the nervous mare again, feeling sorry for her but more concerned with her own well being at the moment.

The sound of dancing hooves caught Waiirri's attention and the pale blue roan spun around to see the grey mare standing alert before them, as though of a dream. He nickered gently to her, reassuring her once again that he meant her no harm. Dinga spoke again and feeling caught between two conversations he nonetheless turned his head politely and nodded "It is nice to meet you Dinga, you are welcome to stay with my herd if you so wish." OOC: Latymier- way back when the brumby drive was being planned I'd mentioned that I wanted to Waiirri and his herd to somehow avoid being in it. if that's ok with Opal and Tex I thought we could have the herd escape and being observers but not actually in the stampede. as you've already posted with Dinga in the drive thread do you want to rp it so that she gets scared and is seperated from the rest of the herd? totally up to you, just a suggestion

Aruna sighed; why must Waiirri be constantly swamped by mares? She turned away from the roan stallion, who was fighting to talk to two brumbies at once, and glanced at Doowi. Aruna watched her with some mild interest, wondering if she felt as irritated by the swarms of strangers. After a moment of thought, she also lowered her head to graze; she was rather hungry from the journey back. Aruna's eyes couldn't help but twinkle at the thought of Mirrin, her first foal; every time she looked at the little filly, a shiver of delight passed through her body. As Aruna grazed, she busied herself by admiring the foal's qualities. Her coat was a solid silver-grey color, which Aruna found interesting. She wondered if the color would last, or just fade away with the foal coat. Aruna watched as Mirrin jumped around with energy and enthusiasm, her long legs sometimes getting in the way and causing her to stumble. Aruna stifled a snort of laughter. Suddenly Mirrin took an interest in Doowi, and frolicked over to the mare's side. Aruna's head jerked up; she wondered if Doowi would mind. Mirrin boldly stretched out her head, then with a sudden snort she playfully nipped at Doowi's muzzle. Then she jumped back toward her mother, as if afraid that Doowi would lash out at her. But you couldn't ignore the mischievous gleam in her eyes.
