Waiirri looked with concern at Doowi and his chesnut son. They appeared fine, if not tired, but he still wanted to check on them. Walking quietly over he lowered his head and gently nuzzled the creamy mare, lipping softly a her mane. He stood over her protectively, waiting for her to respond, glancing in the meantime at his son, who seemed fine, and then at Aruna and Mirrin. He thought he caught a flicker of satisfaction on the grulla mare's face and felt bewildered, what did she have to feel satisfied over? Maybe she was simply pleased that her little daughter had fared the run so well, for Mirrin certainly looked in good shape he was relieved to see. But something in Aruna's gaze made him sure there was something else. He shook his head mentally, mares were strange, he'd never fully understand them. Glad that everyone present appeared ok, he turned his attention to worrying about the two missing mares.

Doowi rested painfully, her legs starting to hurt a bit, and her chestnut colt squealed loudly, challenging the loud noises and scary scents that had made his mum run and hurt herself. His mum bumped the back of his head with irritation, and he soon became quiet.
Quite far away, the lippizaner mare stopped to rest, exhausted. She was really tired, and hated being chased when she was in this state. If the Men came agin, she would just kick at them instead of running. Nirrike lay down to rest, panting. She would find the others later.

Aruna looked over at Doowi, a look of worry on her face. The run hadn't been that bad, had it? The poor mare appeared to be in pain, almost. Aruna gave her head a brisk shake, scattering her dark mane; it wasn't of her concern. Feeling contented once more, she turned to graze again, while keeping a watchful gaze on her frisky filly. Mirrin had since recovered from the fast-paced run, and her fright, and was looking over at the chestnut colt with a startled expression. Why was he squealing like that? Curiously Mirrin edged closer, her head tilted to one side questioningly. The mare, Doowi, then silenced the colt, but Mirrin was still curious. She pranced over to the colt, and though he was much bigger and older than her, she felt no fear. Boldly she nipped at his muzzle, which required a long stretch to reach so far, then she dashed around in circled excitedly. Aruna watched from a distance, her eyes twinkling.

Waiirri looked over in shock when his chesnut son squealed and was relieved that Doowi silenced him quickly. He did not think the men or their dogs would come up here but he didn't want to give away their location either. Watching Doowi critically he saw that she seemed to look a bit b etter, though he was still concerned for his first mare. Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of a grulla blur and watched with proud amusement as Mirrin danced around her older half brother. The filly was strong and healthy and he could not be prouder of her. Or his son for that matter. No, he loved his herd. He treasured thm all more than he had ever thought possible. ANd it bohered gravely that two of their number were missing. Sighing softly he blew out thorugh his nostrls, trying to relieve some tension. His ears flickered back and forth to catch any hint of danger, thankfully the sounds of men and dogs were fading every second.
