The sooty mare made her way along the river slowly, using her brumby instinct and skill to avoid rabbit holes and wombat burrows. A broken leg in the wild means death. Her head, while not a fashion queen's beautiful features, were quite pretty, and she looked along the river to see that there were no dangers to threaten her for the time being. Coorah stopped and began to graze, hoping someone would come and talk to her.

Jerome pranced along the river, kicking his legs up in attempt to keep himself warm. The winter weather did not agree with him and it was his first away from his birth herd, but he would not let such a matter slow or discourage him.
The bleak terrain and atomsphere only showed how truely beautiful he was and how his dunn coat shone in even the most rough conditions.
He halted himself and sniffs.. a glorious scent of a mare. He looked around, searching before spotting a beauty that might rival his own. A glorious sooty bay, he continued to prance down the stream, flicking his mane and tail about, announcing his presence as he approached.
"Good Morn, young lass. I hope the day finds you well."

Coorah flicked her thorns at the sound of light hoof-beats, and she looked up quickly, shying away from the male horse who had shown up coming from the direction opposite to hers. Her black mane and tail were lifted slightly with the wind, and she whickered nervously as the male spoke to her. She had hoped to find company, but honestly, Coorah had never met a male before. She waved her banner a little, up and down, before answering. "Thanks you, sir, good morning to you too. This day does find me well, though the weather leaves alot to be desired."

While chasing a possum returning to it's home after a night's worth of hunting, Bold, the dingo bumped into Jerome by accident, of course, as he was usually quite a gentleman. "I do apologize, " he said after a while of brushing his forehead. He noticed the sooty mare too. "Are you hurt?" he asked both of them- at Jerome because of the bump, and the mare looked harmed.
Bold usually stayed away from the Crakenback, as it was the place where he heard the news of his missing siblings. As usual, it didn't bother him at the current moment. He enjoyed spending time with brumbies, he wished to know most of the locals. "My name is Bold," he continued, "And yours?"

Coorah shyed quickly from the dingo, pinning her ears back and baring her teeth. No dog teeth had ever scraped her hide, but she had seen enough bones and carcasses to know it wasn't a smart thing to get too close to one of em. She pawed at the ground nervously, eyeing the river, and wondering if she could jump into it to get away if she had to.

Jerome balked and backed up away from the suddenly intrusion to his forelegs.
"Do you mind? The lady and I were talking? You must be Bold to run right into me like that."
Jerome trotted his way around Bold, such a small creature was no concern to him. However this mare in front of him was.
"Excuse the interrupt. I am Jerome. May I have your name? The weather is quite dreadful but it something we must endure to be a glorious spring. He flicked his mane and posed for Coorah to admire.

Bold turned his nose up at Jerome, then he looked back over at the mare. "Its alright," he said calmly, "I'm not going to harm you," he said, rolling his eyes. "Brumbies these days!" he murmered to himself, watching the frosty stream carry dead leaves down the creek. Through the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a snake. That was odd, a snake in Winter? Bold knew very well that snakes were the devils of the bush and that some brumbies were very afraid of them, and this seemed like a chance to prove himself. The snake slid out from behind some white bushes and headed towards the snow gum that Bold was sitting next too, close to the two brumbies. He leapt with his jaws open and grabbed the snake just behind it's head. It wasn't long enough to draw much blood, but he let go and stamped on the creature, then he released it, just as his mother had taught him to. The snake gave a hiss and glared at Bold, then slid away. He smiled, pleased with himself.

Coorah didn't like the smell of the canine, it smelt of dead animals and meat. But the male horse, on the other hand, was quite interesting. She sniffed at his muzzle, and snorted under her breath. He was handsome, too. A scuffle distracted her, and she looked over to see the dingo or whatever it was attacking a snake. She watched with wide eyes as it was scared away, and wondered what the canine was doing. Protecting them or showing a display of its killing power? The male spoke, and she began to pay more attention to him again. "Jerome, I am Coorah. I do hope winter will be over soon, the snow is very cold," She whinnied to him, stamping a light covering of snow off her legs.

"I would not mind the weather if I get to meet a mare quite like yourself." Jerome will puff out his chest and hold his head high.
"We make quite a match, both standing out so gloriously in this bleak and dreadful weather but our presence would light up any animals day as if it were Spring already and the sun shone brightly in the sky."
He pranced around Coorah as if to prove his point before sideling up to her and nuzzles her ears and mane.

"You brumbies are so clueless," snarled Bold, turning nasty. "Pardon me, young stallion, but I just saved you a snake bite! And you too, missy!" he complained, baring his glossy white teeth. "Or would you have prefered it if I had let you be poisoned in the worst time of the year?!" He felt very offended, but he wouldn't harm anything he wasn't going to eat or anythign that wouldn't harm him.
He lifted his maw and cried to the white sky with a sad, lonely call that makes you want to cry. He held it long and hard, then sat down and perked his ears up, waiting for another dingo to answer. Every year he was so lonely, it seemed that all dingoes had gone.
