Ammi had been grooming herself nearby after the excitement of Nevada's appearance, so it wasn't long before she appeared from the undergrowth, tongue lolling. She fixed both binocular golden eyes on the black stallion, and sat back on her haunches. She'd tried to get into favour with Aleo, and it seemed be default, she'd been accepted by Tingara.
"I don't know what I can do to protect them from, say, another stallion, but I can get them moving and send warning should there be trouble." The canine grinned, standing and moving to the side of the herd where she laid down in the shade to keep watch leaving Tingara to attend to whatever business he had.

Baree awoke when the herd started to move down the valley. Yawning, he got to his feet and stretched. Finally he felt better. Noticing some other colts running and playing he looked at Valatone to make sure she knew where he was then charged after them. He ran up to Cobalt and nipped him swiftly on the haunches, returning the favour from earlier. Then whinnying in a friendly fashion to show him that it was just a game and that there were no hard feelings, he shook his head and reared up, inviting the colt to a mock battle.

Valatone laughed at Baree again- this mysterious foal was so like her own. She too realised that the herd was moving a little, and she joined the rest of the mares in a slow pace further down the valley. The white mare looked over at Crayola, seeing she looked a bit dejected after her taking of Baree. "I'm sorry Crayola, I didn't mean to hurt you," she apologized. ____________________________ Cobalt was charged at by Burnum, and then nipped friendily by Baree. He didn't know what do do- play fight Baree or chase Burnum. He whinnied in confusion, rearing on his hend legs and striking at the air with his flailing hooves. Maybe he could do two at once? Leaping over to Burnum, he put his neck down and charged like a bull, only smaller and he didn't hit him. Then he leaped over to Baree and gave her a nip on the wither and neighed in joy.

Squealing with delight, Baree twisted to nip Cobalt on the neck as he bit his withers. He had never had other colts to play with before. He raced over to Burnum and skidded to a halt "Hi!" he said "My name is Baree, what is yours?" He looked at the red roan colt, wondering if he could possibly be related to the blue roan mare but too polite to ask the question. Carefully guising his curiousity he butted the colt playfully with his head, "Well," he said "What's your name?"

Burnum mistook Baree running at him as an attempt to spark a chase, so Burnum had already reared and had just started to run off when he realised the colt actually just wanted to talk. "Erm, hi!" he replied, returning the headbutt and more anxious to run around and do something with the newbie rather than play at introductions. "I'm Burnum! Hey, are you fast?"

"Nice to meet you," said Baree cheerfully "Urm, well I think I'm kind of fast...I've never really had other colts to run around with and compare" Suddenly a mischeivious spark lit his eyes "But I suppose it couldn't hurt to see" Swiftly he nipped Burnum on the crest of his neck and then took off, "Tag you're it!" he yelled and then galloped away.

Cobalt squeeled with delight. At last, another game. Well, actually, it hadn't been very long since his last one. The black colt's green eyes lit up and he danced over near Baree, rearing up and falling onto his back. Four lanky legs flailed in the air as he searched for ground, and then he finally got to his feet. Pawing at the ground, he snorted and let out a whinny like a stallion would do in a real fight, although this was only play he took seriously. After another session of rearing up, he hoped he had impressed both Burnum and Baree as he charged towards Burnum's open side like an angry bull.

Baree snorted with amusement when Cobalt pawed the ground and charged Burnum. It reminded him of those strange animals called "cattle" that he and his mother had passed earlier that month. Whinnying playfully, he raced up behind Cobalt and teasingly pulled the black colt's short tail. Then, squealing his own challenge, he raced off, his ungainly legs flying as he kicked up clods of dirt in his excitement.

Burnum squealed gleefully and tore after Baree only to have Cobalt just out of nowhere and get there first. Then, in the blink of an eye, he was suddenly the target. His skid to a halt was admittedly ungraceful, but he did manage to turn around in time to run off thanks to Baree's sudden tail grabbing stunt.
Oh yeah, look how big and bad they were growing, they could like, run fast and neigh loud and all that awesome grown-up stuff!

Cobalt fell backwards when he felt the tug of his tail. Whinning with fright, he jumped to his legs and accepted the challenge, pretending to be a big grown-up stallion. Pawing the earth with his hoof and raking away grass, he roared pitifully. Unfortunately his roar sounded more like a squeal, but it was still a roar to him. Rearing up again, he then leaped about in a dance-like manner.
Once, the black foal fell over again. But he got to his legs and leaped ontop of a rock, squealing to both Burnum and Baree.
