OOC: Yeah, I'll do a timeskip in the Bogong thread we'll bring Nevvy and Yooralla back in there. IC:
Marie snickered at the gullible buckskin, joining in with Lori's laughter for a spell once Jason had bridled her and left her to stand untethered at the fence. The man was surveying The Devil as he'd named him in the corral. They were going to need that for the silver filly when they bought her in later. He'd tried working with the giant gelding but they hadn't made much progress. Perhaps he'd be able to at least catch the animal and take him round to one of the stalls and tether him there. He certainly wasn't putting him in one of the paddocks with the other horses.
Grumbling, Jason got himself a leading rope and approached the high-sided corral. "If I die," he called jovially to Alison, "Look after Marie will ya?" Snickering, Jason cracked open the gate and squeezed though, closing it quickly behind him. He held out the apple he'd picked up as bribery, not that the finicky sod would eat a common fruit - he turned his nose up at everything. But it was the thought that counted.
Clucking his tongue, Jason tried to entice the beast over. "Here Devil, come here before I get the urge to shoot you. You'd feed me for a year wouldn't you, you great lump?" He crooned, keeping the lead rope behind his back as he advanced.

Damon heard the gate click and turned his head around to see who was daring to invade his personal privacy. Erg, him again. For the life of him he couldn’t understand why that stupid horse-boy kept coming, but in a way he had to admire his constant attempts. He didn’t feel his usual need to make himself a bother to catch, only because he was feeling particularly lazy that morning, so, instead, he looked away again and stayed stubbornly put, fully intending to grow roots for the next few hours.

Alison grinned at Jack, and began to groom Jesse. This was mainly to calm her down; the mare would definitely get messy during this hunt. She smirked at Jason's remark, but her face was hidden, towards Jesse. The mare whinnied, feeling excitement in the air. Alison stroked her gently, greatly looking forward to the chase. Jason walked into the pen holding the creamy. Alison winced. She didn't like that horse. He acted dangerous, and was too fat and lazy to do any real work. Probably too lazy to escape the halter, most likely. Would it be wise, putting a delicate little thing in with that monster? He might trample her!
OOC- sorry for the sucky post, ish tied >.<

Once he managed to clip on the lead rope, Jason discovered why that had been relatively easy: the darned animal had locked up his legs and was refusing to lead. Grumbling and cursing under his breath, he gave the creature a few experimental pushes but nothing was gong to move that lump of meat. "Alisooooooooon!? Get my whip, its on Marie's saddle. Stand opposite the gate and show him it, just don't move it too much, I don't wanna be Jasonpaste." Hopefully the threat of the whip would get him to behave again.

Damon was smart enough to have made the connection between ‘whip’ and ‘smacky-thing’ a long time ago, but he was also learning that ‘whip’ could also mean ‘long snake-like painful-looking smacky-thing of DEATH AND DESTRUCTION’. Whenever Jason said ‘whip’, it never meant the usual type, so his ears immediately went backwards worriedly and he turned his head around to watch just where in the hell that woman was walking off to. He wouldn’t budge yet though until his suspicion was confirmed.
Jack was watching absently as he led Lori around in circles to warm her up. Of course, she wasn’t cooperating well and kept wanting to trot sideways in that little pre-race thoroughbred walk, so he’d picked up a thin stick was lightly tapping her back with it every time she tried it to get her back into place.
”You know, I would have shot that thing ages ago,” Jack grinned, watching Jason and tapping Lori again as her quarters suddenly turned away from him. That white monster was nuts. The horse might have a shot with a firm hand maybe, but he doubted anyone would really bother to go the effort. As a rule Jack disliked horses that where only good for one thing, and Devil was bred to prance, but go no further unless ‘steamroller’ was a career path. "Just wack him with it already, show him who's boss or something."

Alison left Jesse in a hurry, who whinnied after her, content with whatever happened. The girl hustled to the whip and grabbed it, slowing down as she approached Marie. She didn't want to be Alisonpaste either. The horse didn't move too much, obviously eager to see the bigger horse showed up. Alison picked up the whip and climbed up the fence rails before showing it clearly to the horse, shaking it for emphasis. She would dearly like to give the devil a whip, but then it would probably go nuts and get loose...

OOC: Got permission from Illu to drag Damon around =) IC:
The whip worked perfectly, and Jason held on stubbornly as he directed the fast moving giant out of the corral and round to the side of the hut when he tied him up under the tin-roofed shelter. He gave Devil a pat on the shoulder, put some hay in the feeder to keep him occupied and jogged back to Marie. After taking back the whip from Alison and making sure he had everything he needed, he mounted Marie and waited for Cowboy and Alison to do the same.

Alison turned back to Jesse immediately after Jason took the whip back. She didn't see any reason why he should need help with the creamy. Jesse had been grazing, and threw her head up at Alison's approach. Her rider frowned at this behavior, and gave her a tap on the muzzle. "None of that, Jess. We have work to do," Alison said to her horse severely, before mounting in one leap and moving slowly toward the gate, giving the other guy time to mount his horse.

Jack swung up onto the saddle quickly, and was waiting for Lori this time, keeping a firm but not uncomfortable grip on the rein to stop her leaping forwards again. She didn’t get the hint, and as Jack felt her staring to move quickly turned her in a tight circle. Feeling huffy, Lori gave up and waited for Jack to let her move forwards, which he only did once he felt she was sufficiently obedient. As they walked past J.D’s pen, the colt suddenly went insane and made a run at the fence, screaming and carrying on in a manner most unlike him. It was a bit concerning to say the least, but there was once again no time to find out the problem, so he whistled once at Sam to get the colt to move back then set his mind back on the hunt.
--
Woorin was in a panic again, and as he watched Lori leave he ran up to the side of the fence and skidded to halt right in front of it, ears flattened. ”Lori! Don’t! Don’t, don’t do this! Just throw the chase, pretend to break a leg, don’t do it!” he pleaded, and the chestnut just laughed as he chased her along the side of his prison. ”GODAMNIT LORI!” He finally shouted in frustration, rearing against the fence and ignoring Jack’s shouts, ”SHE DOESN’T DESERVE THIS! SHE’S NOT MEANT TO BE IN THIS PLACE! YOU HEARTLESS COW! YOU DON’T EVEN CARE YOU’RE GOING TO RUIN SOMEONE ELSES LIFE DO YOU?!”
”See you soon J.D,” Lori sniggered, raising her tail happily and winking infuriatingly at him before upping her pace to beat Jesse out of the gate. Catching a creamy was a big deal, and she would kill to be the one on the other end of that rope. Major street-cred associated with that.
Sam made a wide turn before making a dart at the buckskin, barking loudly to scare him back to the other side of the pen, but this was one of the few times Woorin wouldn’t back down, someone else was at stake here; but he pushed his luck by trying to bite Sam through the fence. The dog expertly latched onto his nose just long enough to scare the horse witless and when he let go Woorin made his way to the other side of the fence quick smart. Sam, satisfied, then wheeled around and darted past Lori to wait for everyone, wagging his tail expectantly.

Patting Marie for staying calm while Cowboy's horses danced about in excitement, he sent her forward, drawing level with the dog. "Hey there dog. Good boy. How do you do finding brumbies, eh?" The wrangler made a throwing motion in the direction the creamy had gone last night and shouted, "Seek 'em, dog!" He hoped Cowboy's dog knew how to seek, otherwise he was going to look pretty stupid.
