A light silver forelock flipped into his eyes, and Coorain threw his head up to shake it out of the way, snorting with impatience. His mane and tail was long and beautiful, but beauty always did seem to get in the way. A light rain had started up, and he lifted his head to look at the sky, water running in rivulets down his steely grey face. The rain fell onto rocks still warm from the day, and blew up as quickly cooling clouds of steam. Coorain began to canter almost noiselessly through this icy rain, completely invisible in the driving sheets of water. His focused brown eyes were on the target location, a stand of trees next to the men's hut. A silvery dark shape seemed to appear for a few seconds, then disappeared almost instantly. From his hiding place, Coorain calmly watched the hut's activities with a calculating eye. It seemed that a filly and a mare had been newly captured, and as he watched them, a wistful look entered his eye. They were beautiful, too. Not that he thought himself beautiful. The steely silver stallion stayed in his hiding place, convinced the humans would stay inside in the rain, and began to observe everything about the yard that newly caughts were kept. Could there be a way out?

A black shape moved among the snowgums around the hut. The rain made it so that Tingara was but a shadow. He had come to the hut to see if it was true, Nevada’s herd had been involved in a Brumby run. Tingara was unaware there was another stallion nearby who was hidden by the rain. As he neared the holding yards he was shocked to recognise one of the captured. “Birubi is that you?” he nickered softly; ever aware of the danger he was putting himself in. He held his tail high out of urgency. All this did was show off his Arab blood to potential captors. He lifted his head from the foal's level and looked hurridly over to the hut. Good, there was no sign of life, yet. Tingara hushed Birubi as she began to get excited. A part of the black stallion said to strike Nevada now, while he and his herd were shaken from the run but he dismissed that thought quickly. It wasn't who he was. Tingara sniffed the air, oh god there was a dog. He began to grow even more edgy.
Birubi woke groggily and pulled herself up from underneath Jesse. “Tingara!” she called out excitedly. She hobbled as close to him as she could get and began to go over the whole story as Tingara listened on, horrified.

As the rain hammered on the tin roof of the hut, Jason was cladding himself in layers of clothes, a huge leather coat and finally, great stomping boots. Most of the horses would be fine in the rain, there was shelter in each pen, but the tethered foal would have trouble trying to get under the makeshift cover. Opening the door, the wrangler stepped out onto the porch and out into the rain as he pulled the hood over his head.
The rain was driving hard, and it was hard to see very far. Even the dog would be hard pressed to see or smell anything out here. As it was, the canine was sheltering under the porch, looking fairly laid back. As he approached the foals holding pen, he saw a dark shape up at the outside edge. A black brumby stallion was sniffing at the foal! Shouting, Jason raised the alarm, trying to drive the animal off. "Ha! Come'on, get!" Clapping his hands he jumped on the spot and hoped the odd display and the rustling coat would scare the animal off. If not, and things went bad, he could easily jump through one of the gaps in the fence and use it as a barrier.

The steel grey stallion barely withheld a snort as a black stallion appeared from the rain steam clouds, and he quickly began to side-step away, making sure his hooves were quiet. This mission had been to study the humans, to see how to escape if he did get caught, not to attract unwanted attention such as this. But it appeared that the filly foal was the object of this stallion's attentions, and Coorain paused for a few moments, completely visible in the space between the trees and the fence, to watch. A man stumbled out of the hut, and Coorain watched with growing interest. The man tried to scare off the other stallion, by waving his hands and making noise. The brumby stallion whinnied to the black stallion, trying to warn him about the man that was screaming at him. Just in case he didn't realize what danger he was in. "Excuse me! I think now is a good time for you to run from here, no matter how much you want to save this filly!"

The man came out of nowhere. The coat personified the human’s appearance to Tingara. He reared fearfully but then heard the call of a stranger. He lashed out at the man to scare him and then cantered away almost tempting the man into a chase. “I need no advice from a stranger in my land,” he whinnied shrilly before taking off into the trees making sure to leave no print as he galloped along. “I’ll come back Birubi,” Tingara called behind him, first he must return to his herd to check if men could access the valley.

Jason jumped back as the stallion lashed out, climbing through the gap between fence slats. He watched the black run, though the second neigh did not escape his attention. So the two new animals were drawing in the local stallions? He'd have to to double check the fences and make sure the two were well secured when the rain let up.
Stepping up to the filly, he tried not to spook her as he grabbed a firm hold of her halter. With a deft hand - glad that the filly was short enough for him to reach her feet and her head - he loosened the hobbles before he untied her from the pen's centre post. "Come on baby, this way." He tried to lead the little filly across the pen to the shelter in the corner.

Coorain whinnied angrily back to the other stallion, and did a little dance in his anger, his front half occasionally lifting off the ground and his head throwing itself up every now and then. Steely legs kicked wildly at the air, and his special stallion roar sounded. This was not only a response to Tingara, because that would have been way overdone. This roar was also to warn the men, that he would not stand for them to take whatever mares he owned, and that he would take revenge. His dark mane and tail flew shining in the moonlight, which had just shown from behind dark clouds, and he bared his teeth and screamed with anger, now at the man who was trying to pull one of the captured brumbies away.

The combination of the man and the new stallion’s calling was too much for Birubi. Now that the hobbles were gone she was free to go absolutely nuts. She kicked out at anything she could see through the early morning rain but soon calmed down at the man’s gentle touch. Still breathing hard she let Jason lead her to shelter but not before landing a few choice bruises.

Jason tried his best to sooth the stricken youngster, and after a while it seemed to work. His legs would be covered in bruises within a few hours, though at least the thick boots had protected his feet from stomping hoofs. Tethering her onto the solid corner post, the man was glad to be out of the rain. The corner of the pen was mostly sheltered with corrugated tin, and the rain made a racket on it but at least it was dry. The stallions bellowing challenges nearby was irritating. If they continued to hang around he'd have to scare them off with more force and if they continued to be threats, well, Jason had shot deranged horses before, he'd kill aggressive stallions if they were a threat to the other men or the tame horses.
In an effort to sooth the foal and do some human bonding, Jason took a rough towel from under his coat. Crooning under his breath and careful to stand out of the filly's licking range, he set about rubbing her grey coat dry. Grooming was a calming activity for most horses, and for a foal it would help to simulate a grooming from the dam. Getting her used to humans would be significantly easier than training the creamy so the more work that was put in, the less hassle the little filly would be later on.

The steel stallion charged forward, now almost blind with rage. He had became carried away, and reared right next to the hut, kicking it with all his might. A large hole appeared in its side, and rainwater started to drip in. Coorain whinnied in triumph, before wheeling and galloping around the pens and fences to disappear behind the misty rain.
OOC- severely shortened because of my foolishness x.x
