A grulla filly cantered noisily to a big wooden hut, usually owned by the humans. She was escaping from her mother, and the stallion named Nandalie, who was supposed to be in charge of the two foals. Her friend, or partner in crime, was right behind her, and together, they galloped as fast as they could to get away before their parents found them. Ally skidded to a halt, and nudged her friend with her soft nose, whinnying quietly at the same time. "Come on! Come on! That's a human hut!" she giggled, and led the way down to the big, empty pen. She sniffed at the wood, curious, and suddenly ignored her friend to try and figure out what this new scent was.

Omaroo skidded to halt behind her friend, showering Ally with upflung pebbles and gravel. She snorted and flung her head excitedly-this was fun! She peered through her messay forelock at the huts and round pens before her, snorting cautiously with excitement. She remembered dimly, her mother showing her something like this in their old territory, and warning her to never go close. But honestly, what could be so dangerous? There was nothing here! Snorting, she pranced out into the open space in front of one of the pens. "Come, let's go closer!" she dared her friend.

Ally suddenly remembered that Omaroo was with her, and whinnied, bucking playfully. Yeah, the human's place was fun, but it was even better with her friend! She nipped her friend's hind leg playfully, and danced away, towards the hut. There was a big, open space there, and the opening to it was opening and closing. The process fascinated her, swinging as far as it could go and then making a big thunk noise against the other trees. The grulla filly side-walked towards it, and began to play with the gate, for that was what it was.

Omaroo bucked and kicked out playfully as Ally nipped her on her hindleg. She then watched, ears pricked way forward, as Ally crabwalked towards the gate. Snorting, she advanced cautiously, stopping and then starting forward, until finally she extended her quivering nose to bump the rough surface of the wood. She jumped backwards as it suddenly swung towards her then cautiously advanced again to play with it with her friend.

Ally sniffed at the wood, too, and snorted while shaking her head and pulling it backwards. It smelled funny. Like lots of horses, all in a herd, and they didn't smell the same, which usually happens when horses live together in herds. She pushed her head back to snuffle at it warily, and snorted, glancing at Omaroo. What was this place? Was this the place that humans caught horses in? Suddenly, Ally felt very afraid. Her whole coat began to darken with sweat, and her eyes became a little wider in fear. She began to dance on the spot, practically beaming her worry all over the place.

Allie sat lightly on Bandit as they jogged easily through the brush. She was coming back from a brief photo expedition and though disappointed with the lack of wildlife she had seen she was simply happy to be out riding. She was currently staying with her aunt who lived relatively close by to the High Country, and she was on her way to Dead Horse Hut to figure out the logistics of moving in. As she passed Cascade Hut, reflecting that it had a much pleasanter name then her soon-to-be home she felt Bandit's body tense and his ears flicker to the side as though listening to something. Soon, she heard it too. The old gate in the yard was swinging back and forth, and could she hear hoofbeats? Stopping Bandit she peered through the brush until her eyes found the shapes of two fillies playing in the yard. Allie smiled in amusement but her blue eyes soon darkened with concern. Those two were wild, they really shouldn't be there. She pulled out her camera to take a few pictures of the delightful fillies then carefully placed it in her right saddlebag. She then asked Bandit to move on, out of the trees and into plain sight of the brumbies. ---------------------------------------
Omaroo caught Ally's worried glance and froze. What was wrong? Her friend began to sweat and shake and, picking up on this anxiety, Omaroo felt herself begin to tremble. What were they afraid of? Omaroo didn't know but the fear of the unknown is often worse the worst to endure. It must have something to do with this place. This haunted, strange place. Omaroo snorted anxiously, then flung her black head up in surprise as a buckskin horse emerged from the trees. Ok, horse. Normal enough. But what the heck was on its back? She wasn't sure whether she should to call out to the other horse and warn it, it seemed quite at ease. Omaroo backed away uncertainly, she had never seen such a weird sight in her life.

Ally began to make short, frightened whinnies as she danced on the spot, her little ears flicking back and forth and her tail twitching like crazy. Suddenly, she heard the sound of hoof beats, which made her nearly jump out of her skin. The grulla filly spun around to see a golden and black horse, a colour she hadn't seen before, and what looked like a fur-less and demented looking Dingo. She whinnied loudly in fear, not realizing that she may be getting the wrong kind of attention, and shrank back from the freaky creature, her flank pressed against Omaroo's.

OOC: "and what looked like a fur-less and demented looking Dingo" LMAO !!! XD
BIC: Omaroo swung her hindquarters around so that she was pressed as closely as possible to Ally, noting that her friend had done the same. Trembling she watched the creature on the horse's back with huge, fearful eyes. Ally squealed in panic and Omaroo snorted in fear. What should they do?
Allie saw the two fillies huddled together and felt guilty for being the cause of their distress. She'd have to apply the theory of "tough love" here though. It was better that the two brumbies were frightened off by her, who meant them no harm, and never returned than they return here another day to perhaps be captured or worse. She signaled Bandit to move forward, towards the fillies. "Go on girls! Run along now! You shouldn't be here!" she called loudly. Bandit excitedly moved into classic cowpony position. A trained cattle horse, among other things, he loved to round up loose animals such as the yearlings he and Allie had been responsible for a couple of summers ago. Not understanding that these two would hardly consider it a game, he began weaving, waiting for them to run off so that they could give chase and have some fun. Allie tapped her heels lightly against his sides, and Bandit reluctantly brought his head and shoulders up "Sorry sweetie, but I don't think these two will understand that it's just a game," she crooned.
With one last fearful snort, Omaroo tossed her head and nipped Ally lightly on her shoulder. "Let's go!" she whispered, then spun around to dash off into the woods, looking behind her to see if Ally was following.

Ally was only too happy to follow. She snorted and galloped away with Omaroo, going faster than she had ever run. And that was pretty fast, for a yearling brumby. She zipped past Omaroo, nipping her as well on her way past, encouraging her to run faster. She didn't like that big stallion that had tried to charge them, and the dingo wasn't very nice smelling, either. Ally decided she had had enough adventure for one day, and began to head in what she thought was the way home.

Omaroo lengthened her stride to catch up to her friend and fled through the trees, only just barely remembering to duck her head in time to avoid the low-hanging tree branches. Her heart was racing and her breath ragged not from the effort of running but from pure fear. There was something very strange about that place and she had no inclination to go back anytime soon. Finally, realizing that she could hear no hoofbeats behind her, Omaroo slowed down to a jagged trot, lifting her legs high and stepping over the tree branches. It was now dark, and they were in the middle of the woods, without a herd or stallion. Omaroo began to wonder if leaving poor Nandalie had been such a hot idea after all.
