Leading the small mob along the creek had led to the discovery of a fair grazing ground. The strawberry roan lounged in a patch of springtime sunlight, his eyes half-lidded while the mares he had gathered grazed around him. The creek was wide and shallow here, the water bubbling over the stones on its bed. The grass on its banks was luscious and nourishing, and Nandalie could see that the small group would be able to graze for a moon's cycle or more if its security was not compromised.
The sun was warming his russet pelt, and now after eating his fill, he was enjoying a rest. The newest mare and filly to join his procession were an interesting pair. The mother was small, though the filly was almost taller than her. Her father must have been a average-sized brumby. He hoped the two would stay. Wyuna, the mare, was a little finicky, but the filly seemed well-adjusted enough.
Nandalie raised his head a little, opening his eyes. He nickered to the two newcomers, then walked over to Irawaddy and Coorah, giving the pair some affectionate nibbles before dropping his head to graze beside them.

Irawaddy was content, enjoying the feeling of the early Spring sun on her back as she grazed beside Nandalie and Coorah. Amarina was playing with Ngamudji, for once looking relatively relaxed. The two new horses were an odd pair, well not so much the little yearling but the mare...Oh well. she was sure she'd come around eventually. The scent of two new horses drifted along the air to her and she raised her head, gazing off into the distance curiously. The winds shifted and she was able to tell that the scent belonged to two stallions, "Nandalie," she said softly "I think trouble may be approaching." ------------ Wyuna and Camira grazed a little ways off from the bulk of the herd. The red roan stallion hadn't impressed or disappointed Wyuna yet but she was content to stay for now. She cropped at the fresh grass, happier than she'd been for a while. The little mare really hated winter. Her daughter grazed beside her, one ear fixed on the other horses. She was eager to make friends but wasn't sure how to go about that under her mother's critical gaze. Slowly she began to edge towards the others, pretending that she was simply looking for choicier grass. Her ploy was interrupted by the bay mare's nicker and raising her head she realized that she could smell other horses also. OOC: and here comes the compromise in security....lol not really they're honestly not much of a threat -though they think they are Wangara and Kurruk had been travelling in this direction for a couple days though they had yet to see other horses in this new region of unexplored territory. Nonetheless, they were eagerly anticipating their chance to form a herd. Cresting the rise of a hill Wangara came upon the sight of the little herd grazing below. The sooty blue roan looked at the small group excitedly before calling impressively to the mares. He then turned to Kuruk, "What do you say we challenge this stallion together and then split the herd?" he asked of his friend. Kurruk trotted to catch up and nodded. Of course, neither or them had been in a real fight before. But they had always been quite confident that they would be succesful in their first attempt. Kurruk, too, whinnied, this time a challenge to the stallion. Then he and Wangara charged over the hill with much fanfare, squealing and tossing their heads.

Aaaaand, the fight stats. On a random die roll, 1-9 being a win for Nandalie and 10-17 being a win for the boys, you got: 6!Proof.

OOC: Yee! *pets Nandalie* Good boy XD Trusting the delicate nose of his mare, Nandalie lifted his head and scented the air. Sure enough, the scent of two unknown stallions was on the wind. Instantly agitated, Nandalie whinnied for his mares to group up and he herded them and his guests to the edge of the creek-side battle-area. He didn't have time to get them any further way, so he left them in sight and stepped forward to meet his challengers.
The ground here was soft and would give good purchase for his hooves but that would be irrelevant if the two came at him at once which from the way they were charging, it appeared they were. The red roan stood his ground, his posture stiff with fury. The doubt over not being able to beat two stallions was quelled a little when he saw they were both barely out of colt-hood. The fully-grown stallion returned their challenging call and without further ado, started forward to meet their charge.
Hoping to catch them off-guard, Nandalie rushed in, kicking out at the blue roan as he passed. He wheeled round, and charged at the white-splashed dun. He wanted to keep them both involved so neither would have the mind to split off and try and steal the mares while he was preoccupied fighting the other.

OOC: lol, I wasn't expecting them to win anyway, but they sure were-they'll be disappointed Irawaddy quickly moved in closer to Coorah, nickering to Amarina who had rushed over to her mother at the sight of the intruders. The roan yearling trembled from head to toe as she watch Nandalie go forward to meet the challenger. Irawaddy was concerned for her stallion's safety but somewhat reassured by the behaviour of the two other stalllions. From the looks of things they were more show than action. She watched intently as Nandalie made his first move, hoping the two together wouldn't prove overwhelming for him. Instead of being too concerned Wyuna's interest was piqued by the arrival of the two challengers. Now she would get a chance to see what the red roan was made of and decide whether or not he was worthy of her and her daughter's company. She stood on the outside of the little group of mares and the one colt, eyes not leaving the three stallions. If Nandalie took on the two at once and won then she'd be impressed, even if they were only younglings. Camira pressed herself inbetween the Irawaddy and her mother, watching nervously. She didn't like the thought of the fight but she couldn't tear her eyes away. This certainly wasn't how she'd wanted to be introduced to the rest of the herd. -------------- The red roan stallion rushed to meet them and pinning his ears Wangara charged, recieving a glancing blow in the side. Startled he threw up his head and whirled around, rearing up in an attempt to land a blow on the red roan's hindquarters. Kurruk saw the other roan charge at Wangara so, assuming he was occupied, started towards the mares, prancing and showing off for them. Distracted, he was not prepared for the red roan to swing around and charge at him. He just narrowly missed being bowled over by Nandalie, but the sudden leap sideways had put him off balance and in no position to fight back for the moment.

Fueled by the confidence that his first attacks had hit home, Nandalie turned again and aimed a kick at the dun's head as he passed. Normally, he would have gotten a strong wither-hold on his opponent but with two of them, he knew the other would not hesitate to unleash some damage on him while he was unable to retaliate.
He continued on, rearing up to strike out at the roan's dark head with his forelegs. If he could just persuade these two they were better off leaving him be, he would count their surrender as a great victory. He would wear himself out eventually, running between the two like this. His only hope was to get one unable to fight -- a solid blow to the head could disorientate one, or perhaps he could lame one badly enough that he could keep out of range.

The red roan stallion's hind hooves swung through the air, just narrowly missing Kurruk's head. Squealing angrily he lunged for the red's neck as Nandalie turned his attention back to his half-brother. With horror, Wangara realized the roan was going for his head. Not as lucky as his brother, the chesnut knee caught him squarely in the forehead. Wangara fell back a few steps, shaking his head to clear it. Maybe it would work out better if he just charged the mares and attempted to drive them off? While Kurruk lunged at the roan's neck he tried just that. This was no time to be a gentleman in Wangara's eyes. He spun around galloped towards the mares, hoping they would scatter and he could gather a few to herd them over the hill.

Distracted by the roan going for his mares, Nandalie received a fairly vicious bite from the pale grullo. With a wild scream, he bucked blindly at his assailant and chased after the blue roan. He aimed a bite at the rump of the roan, simultaneously throwing his weight at the younger roan stallion and hoping to throw him off balance or at least, take his attention from the mares.

Wangara hadn't expected the red roan tocome after him and so recieved the full extent of the bite. Then the roan chased him and He was pushed off course, galloping blindly to the side. Maybe this hadn't been such a good idea... Kurruk jusst managed to duck the flying hooves of the red roan, throwing his head up so that Nandalie's hooves passed just under his chin. Seeing his companion being chased he raced over to the mares himself.
-------- Irawaddy stood fast as first the blue roan then the grullo charged their little group. There was no way she was going to be stolen. Amarina kept close to her mother's side, eyes wide. --------------- Wyuna was watching the fight with an almost bored air now. She didn't really care what happened either way. She wasn't exactly attached to Nandalie and if the othe rtwo won, well let's just say she wasn't going to be going with them. Camira watched the whole fight unfold, heart fluttering nrevously. She really hoped Nandalie would be able to keep the two attackers at bay, he seemed like a good guy.

The sooty Palomino had been watching the fight the whole time, not really speaking up or being distracting. Her little foal was terrified, however, and she nuzzled him to make him feel a bit better. The colt squealed cutely and trotted to his mum's side to drink some milk and breathe in his mother's comforting scent. Coorah pinned her ears back at the two strange stallions that were charging her and the other mares, braing her teeth and stamping her front hooves every now and then. They were getting too close to her foal, and she was ready to defend him by killing if necessary. As one of the males ran past her, intending to scatter she and her friends, she lashed out at his side, being more distracting than dangerous. She then nudged her little colt away, calling to the other mares to make them move into a tighter circle with the foals in the middle.
