With a rush of relief, Nandalie screamed his victory, chased the pair off a ways with ears pinned back and tail raised high before returning to his herd. He'd sustained a few injuries, but at least he had inflicted a few on his opponents. With the first rush of victory over, he silently congratulated himself. Beating two stallions at once? Even though they had been young, winning a two-on-one fight was no mean feat.
High-stepping back over to the group, he reassured his two mares with nuzzles, rewarded the fillies for remaining with their mothers during the drama and the looked to the newest pair. The filly seemed pleased, though her mother was typically unimpressed. With a huff, he nosed the yearling palomino, appreciating her support.
He stepped back and shook out his coat. The bite to his neck was beginning the clot, and his pale fur was streaked with blood from the minor wound. Ignoring the stiffening pain in that side of his neck, she rounded up the group. "Let's move out -- the dingo might be foolish enough to return and we should leave its territory before it does." With a smile, he urged Irawaddy and Coorah to take the lead and followed up behind so he would spot any stealth-attacks from the rear.

Junco watched the herd sheepishly from her hideout. She had long since recovered her breath, but was not planning on revealing herself to the brumbies. So the dingo cowered in the bushes, feeling quite embarassed and foolish; she was lucky that no other dingos were around to see that show. Junco attempted a nervous laugh, but she soon found herself watching the foals with hungry eyes. She only wanted a meal, but those darned mares hadn't done what they were supposed to. Junco shook her head, looking away, feeling the hungriness deep down in her gut. Perhaps I'll find a birthing mare; newborns and afterbirth sound fine. Junco made the decision quickly and, keeping a cautious eye on the brumbies, slipped away into the brush. Her claws sank into the moist soil as she carried herself through the woods, the sound of horses' hooves growing more and more faint. Junco's movements were slightly stiff from the recent occurences, as her muscles were already cramping up, but she did her best to not make it show.

Irawaddy welcomingly returned Nandalie's nuzzles, breathing warmly into his nostrils. She longed to help him clean his wounds and have him relax by grooming him but knew he was right, it was time to move out. Nandalie motioned for herself and Coorah to take the lead so she stepped over to the sooty palomino, beckoning to the others to follow. Amarina quickly fell in behind her mother, pressing closely to her bay flank. The poor filly was still quite shaken from the double stallion attack plus the dingo. ---------- Wyuna merely rolled her eyes as the red roan looked to her for a reaction. Noticing his huff she tossed her head jauntily, pinning her ears at the bay mare who was urging her to follow. ------------ Camira nuzzled Nandalie as he nosed her gently, glad he seemed ok. Then, noticing the two older mares were rounding up the others she trotted over to them obediantly, for the the first time in her life not looking to her mother for cues.

Coorah moved to be next to her good mare friend, and began to trot off, letting Irawaddy collect the others while she showed the way away. Honestly, she wasn't sure where to go, but decided to head upriver. She beckoned to her friend by tossing her head and snorting, and began to trot in that general direction. Her red colt whinnied in a high-pitched voice, trying to keep up, but she turned and shushed him. It wouldn't be good to be loud when he was a fully-grown stallion. The colt was a little bit frightened, but excitement was starting to make him lift his legs high and bound around his mother without trying to keep up. His dad had kept away two big horses, and his mum and the other adults had scared away a wild dingo at the same time! He was happy, and showed it by leaping onto rocks the whole way, rearing up but with no sound. He then quietly trotted down to sniff noses with the other foals, inviting them to play.
