Ooc: This is mainly for Nandalie's herd, but anyone else is welcome!
Nandalie wove through the binding snowgums. His red coat flashed brightly amongst the mix of green and grey. Leading his new herd ahead, they had finally reached their destination.
The lake was flowing as free as a bird. It's waters were cool, and there was plently for 2 mares, 2 foals and a stallion to drink from. The stallion bent down to take a sip, then looked up, waiting for Coorah and Irawaddy.

Coorah sort of bounced after Nandalie, not really caring about how much noise she made, nor what tracks she left behind. A stallion was taking care of her now. Ha! He could deal with unwelcome visitors, such as snakes or dingos, and she could freak out without having to actually do anything. Ally cantered at her side, covered with a light layer of sweat and huffing. She was newly born, you know. She had to rest about four times on the way. Coorah nipped her back in gratitude for her exhaustion, and realized Nandalie had come to a stop. She gratefully slowed down, and began to graze, looking up every now and then.

Irawaddy cantered alongside Omaroo, encouraging the young foal when ever she showed signs of stopping. She was just about to ask Nandalie if they could let the foals have a rest when the red roan stopped in a beautiful clearing. Nickering to Omaroo, she allowed the black foal to have her fill of her milk, and then bent her neck to graze herself.

Nandalie looked back as his two mares joined him. He had never had a herd before, and never handled mares and foals before. His ears flickered as Coorah approuched, noticing how noisy she was. He couldn't help but let out a laugh, it didn't matter to him. He hadn't had a decent fight in ages, and was itching to try out his strengh since it had nearly reached full.
The two foals interested him. They new he wasn;t his father, so how would they react to him? He nickered to both Omaroo and Ally, seeing if they would come to him. The stallion was going to be as friendly as possible around them, for future times.

Coorah kept on grazing, but gave Nandalie an inquiring snort at his laugh. She also gave him one of her famous O_________o looks. Ally whinnied playfully and bounced around the area for a few minutes until she caught sight of the stallion again. The grulla filly stopped dead, and eyed him calculatingly. Would she like him or act snooty? Finally, the pretty foal danced up to him and rubbed against his chest before bounding off again. Looks like she likes you!

Irawaddy continued to graze, but watched Omaroo out of the corner of her eye. When Nandalie nickered to the little foal she waited curiously for her daughter's reaction. There was no reason for the young filly to show any hostility to the stallion, but then again there wasn't really any reason for her to show him any warmth. She wondered what the future would bring for her daughter. Would she stay with Nandalie and become one of his mares? Or would he become too much of a father figure to her for her to accept him as her stallion? She watched Omaroo's reaction carefully. Of course her daughter had no idea at this age that what she did now in regards to the stallion would have an affect on her life in the future.
Omaroo stopped when Nandalie nickered to her. She saw Ally hesistate then go over to him and wondered what she should do. He wasn't her father, how should she react to him? Finally, the foal took a few uncertain steps forward, closer to him, and stopped again. She then reached forward with her tiny, trembling nose, and bunted him softly on his cheek.

Nandalie gave Ally a playful nip as she bounced away. He was glad that she was accepting him, otherwise it would of been awkward. Now it was Omaroo's turn. He gently ruffled her mane, then let her go off with Ally. Things were looking good, the two fillies had accepted him and they had the area all to themselves for now. He would of let out a cry of joy, but he felt that it was better to keep quiet, just in case man was about.
Not that it really worried him.

Coorah closed her eyes after a few moments, and sighed contentedly. Looked like things were looking up again. Ally snorted at the gentle nip, and feigned anger for a few seconds before bouncing off into the middle of the clearing. She bared her small teeth and nipped at the other foal playfully, dancing around like a love-struck yearling. She looks happy! A steel-grey brumby made his way quietly through the trees, and halted when he heard snorts and whinnies of foals. His ears pricked up, and his dark legs began moving in the sound's direction. Concealed behind a thick layer of trees and shrubs, he watched the herd. two mares, two foals, and a stallion. His teeth bared at the stallion's smell, but he kept quiet. Coorain's nostrils flared, memorising the scents, and his eyes kept watching the two mares. This stallion looked easy to steal from. Which mare did he want to take? (OOC- i want Coorain and Nandalie to have a fight for Irawaddy, of course, I don't wanna steal my own charrie!)

lol Tex I totally know how you feel...I was like...hmm Warring and Waiirri need their first mares...and Wyuna's free...but I can't have my stallions' mares be my own characters! so frusterating ------ BIC: Irawaddy continued to graze peacefully beside Coorah as the foals frolicked and played in the grassy clearing. It would have been a fine way to spend the afternoon, if it wasn't for the fact that she suddenly felt like she was being watched. Her skin was prickling, and she kept glancing over her shoulder, trying to penetrate the darkness of the trees to look beyond for the figure of the horse that she was sure was there. Carefully she drew some air in through her nostrils and could smell no other horse, if there was anyone there they must be downwind from her. Now tense, Irawaddy lifted her head and began pacing restlessly between her foal and the trees. She wondered if she should talk to Nandalie, but then again it was only a feeling that she had, and he was just as capable as she was at detecting danger. And afterall, there was nothing to be seen, smelt or heard from where she was standing. Of course, mother's are often much better at detecting danger than we give them credit for....

Ooc: Yeeessss....a fight! How do these work again? Bic:
Nandalie too could sense the newcomer. A stallion, most likely. He snorted and stamped a hoof into the soil, his tail swishing. His lip curled up as he threw a challenge, "Come out from your hiding place, fiend," he yelled, rearing up and letting his front legs fly. It was about time he tested out his new stength, and someone had just arrived to help him.
