“What the f...?” the rest of Sam’s exclamation was cut off as Cas gave an outraged squeal at the very thought of being bitten. The carrot-top colt, which was what he’d be known as from now on, was obviously more than a little crazy and the black mare more than a little stupid. Sam pulled Cas around and held fast onto the rope with gloved hands. Now the colt was on the ground it was definitely a two man job.
Clicking his tongue, Sam urged Cas forward at the same time as Marie. By now the two stock horses were practically dragging the wild colt along the ground and still the black mare was there. Making over-exaggerated movements, Sam shouted at her with a few choice words thrown in. The colt was hassle enough; the mare was of common colour and was only getting in the way.
“Alright, we’ll take him to your place,” Sam called at the other wrangler as he attempted to get the colt back on its feet by sliding a spare piece of rope across his hindquarters.

Marie gave a surprised squeal and shifted sideways and out of range. She gave the colt a glare and kicked out sideways. Jason gave her a cursory slap on the neck, but the colt very well deserved any kick. Jason was beginning to wonder if he should loose it or shoot it. If that thing was going to breed, he didn't want the rest of the brumbies around here tainted. He was a looker, but quite definitely insane. Hopefully if they could get him into a coral, he'd simmer down.
The mare was a pest, but no doubt a whip crack or two wouldn't help the situation. With a grumble, Jason reined Marie in and tightened his grip on the thrashing colt. Marie was already blowing, and Jason shook his head. "She can't pull him, I need the Demon." He spotted a sturdy tree and gestured to it. "If we can get him tied, I can get over to the hut to get him." He gave a smug smile. "I'd like to see him try that again with the Demon."

The colt was very tired now. That trick took the last of his energy to execute, and his hooves were dragging now. The sound of running water attracted him very much, but the ropes kept him from going anywhere. Still, even though he was exhausted and kept from any mischief, he held his head high and didn't undignify himself by yanking and tossing his head. He kept quiet, and made sure he wasn't closer to either man when he walked. That was when he realized Straijx was still following him. He turned his head and nickered to her quietly, asking her to leave. Then his ears twitched with the realization of an idea. She could help with an attempt escape later! He turned his head and whispered urgently to her. "Straijx, follow at a distance and meet up with me at night. They don't want you, luckily, but don't push your luck. See you later!" Ru finished, and pushed her with his nose. She had to get away now, or the men might think she was worth catching after all.

Straijx watched in a daze, trying to control herself enough to listen to Ru. he wanted her to leave? She felt hurt, but she knew he had logic, deep down, loosing one was better then two. Sighing Straijx took two steps backwards. before turning hastily on her hinds legs and sprinting into the dense. When she was a fair distance away Straijx dared to look back. But nothing was there, she was sure she would find him again. Only later.

Burilda had heard the thumping, the yelling, and the clamoring that always came with men and their new captives. She had no sense of urgency, but the noise and the scent of fear and sweat had made an impact. Thus the black mare came, her long mane streaming down one side of her neck. Burilda knew not what the future held for her; she didn't bother to consider what she would do once she stumbled upon the crime scene. The thump of hooves caught her attention.
Burilda swung to the right, heading toward the sound. A trembling black shadow moved from within the trees. Taking in a steady breath, Burilda recognized the scent of a mare. "Ho there, youngling," she nickered softly, stepping toward the frightened horse. "What evil has man brought to you today? I will stand by your side to help reverse it, if you find it fit." Burilda gazed evenly at the mare as she spoke, feeling some sympathy in her heart. This situation was no easy one, but Burilda relished a bit of work and challenge after the last eventful days. The memory of a grey stallion flashed in her mind, before dissipating into nothingness.

Straijx's lips trembled as she noticed another equine amongst the shadows with her. Her heart was pounding against her chest and the blood pumping in her ears as the mare spoke "They have Ru! We need to help him" Straijx tried to stop the hysteria climbing up her vocals, she watched the mare desperately hoping she would help her. "we have to wait until night, we move better in the dark" she gestured to each of their black coat, well there Straijx went at making a joke. Her shifty eyes moved through the bus, always wandering back to where Ru was, wanting to return to him, but she knew nothing would get any better.

OOC: do you mind if I join in?
BIC: Bingarra, too, had heard the noise of the capture. From his vantage point he could see the men leave, dragging a captured brumby with them. Sighing, he fluttered his lips. What a waste. His ears pricked as he heard voices below him, one calm and one frantic. Curious, he walked through the bush towards the sound, his soft grey coat blending in with the shadows as evening began to fall. Finally he came upon two black mares in a clearing. He cleared his throat to alert them to his prescense before stepping out of the brush "Good evening," he said, watching them closely for their reactions.

"They have Ru! We need to help him!" Burilda nodded in reassurance, hoping that her calm demeanor would settle the mare's distress. Her loud rattling was piercing through her ears. "We have to wait until night, we move better in the dark." To Burilda's relief, the mare seemed to grow calmer, more determined. Burilda smiled slightly as she noticed that their pelts were match-for-match, all but for her own white socks. "Yes, we should wait indeed," She agreed, mildly noticing the scent of a stallion. However, Burilda didn't even glance his way until he spoke, and when she did she gave him a queer look."Good evening?" Burilda rose her voice a tad to sound unsettled, but not quite so loud as a roar. "I can hardly call this evening good, what with man's destruction, and I'm afraid I don't agree with you saying so." Burilda tossed her head haughtily, but in an old, wise way, as if grandma was arguing about the best way to make a pie.

Once the colt was securely tethered to the tree, Jason took off on Marie, leaving Sam to mind the colt while he fetched his larger horse. After much training, he'd gotten the big brute to perform most tasks without complaint, but he had yet to try him out with wild brumbies. He had a feeling the large cremello would enjoy throwing his weight around.
It wasn't long before Jason returned to the scene astride Marie leading a gigantic creamy gelding. Dismounting, Jason helped the other man to hobble the uncooperative colt and tether him to a make-shift harness he'd rigged up to Demon. The giant gelding would be able to pull the brumby with minimum effort, and he was unlikely to take any insolence from the other horse.
Mounting up on Marie, he looked over to Sam. "I'll take point, you follow up at the rear and give him a slap if he tries anything stupid."

Ru was getting a bit upset, as he could still hear Straijx, but with other horses that he didn't know. His feet danced on the spot, and he snorted in a worried way every few seconds, looking over his shoulder. This made it a bit tough for them to tie him with more ropes, but they didn't seem to a care. A massive creamy stallion was used as a way to make him move forward, and he stayed on the one spot for as long as possible, ears flicked back to 'his' mare and the sounds of strange horses. The colt squealed in frustration when he realized they weren't going away, and gave a long, ear-splitting neigh in their direction, warning them off from his beautiful black filly. The one thing he could do done, Ru-Shiro turned his eyes to the horse behind him, glaring at it with a great detestation. How dare that four-legged animal caall himself an equine? It helped to make other horses slaves, and didn't even kick up a fuss if their owners roped a young horse, or even a foal! To avoid being punished for going slowly, he trotted in a halting way, catching up with the creamy way too fast and having to wait for it to go ahead agian before he trotted forward again. It was very frustrating.
