A brumby made his way along the side of the Crackenback River, agilely keeping his hooves on the places that weren't covered with slippery moss or wet grass. He paid attention to his surroundings, like any good brumby should, but for now, nothing was too close for comfort. Happy with this information, Ru-Shiro halted for a few moments, leaning on his front legs so that he wouldn't fall into the river as he drank from its water. His ears still flicked this way and that, keeping a watch on the bush nearby. Being a wild horse, and with such an odd colouring as his, humans would be a great danger during Spring, Summer and Autumn. After all, it wasn't every day you saw a wild colt with such a blazing white coat, and a fine crimson mane and tail. Sure, he was only 2 and a half, but being cautious was what had kept him free for those years. Anyway, being a tame horse wasn't really something he liked the idea of. Freedom was not overrated to him, and he was going to try and stay wild for as long as possible. After all, maybe one day he could challenge for and win a few mares! He could start a herd! But for now, Ru-Shiro was happy to just drink from the river.

Staying free? Straijx had more in mind. She would prowl these lands down and find everything int resting i it. Tossing her thick locks she started at the opposite end of the river from the colt. & the other side too. The fragments of water splashed lightly up from there bed. The female felt the stiffness in her joints, the way she had felt all winter. Her new excitement made the mare spring into a uncontrolled loop. Her mane dancing upon the cold breeze, the wind slapping her face and making her blink in surprise as her stride lengthened and she became engulfed in the moment as her pounding hoofs met the water. The crystal illiquid bounced up and met her sides. The river pushed at her joints. There! She saw someone! She stopped, the current pulling at her long legs, her soaking wet black bodice moves forward.
Straijx starts to cross to deeper waters, making bunny hops over the struggling stream. When her hoofs no longer could touch the ground she held her head above the waters and pushed herself through the water. her locks floating around beside her. Kicking her hind legs once last time she scrambled up on the river bank, shaking her black pelt and sending water scattering everywhere. Then she picked up her pace, making three strides forward she was in front of the 'stallion' ooo she liked that word, she will use it again in this post don't worry. Her orbs wandered over his body as her blue coloured mane slapped herself on the neck. he was a strange one, in colour she meant. He was stunning though, for a stallion anyway. (ahaha there I go again!) "'ello there, whats your name then?"

His ears picked up a sound from the other side of the river, and he stopped drinking, pulling his muzzle just above the water so that he could keep all of his attention on the sound. It sounded like something large was coming towards him, and as he allowed the wind to catch the scent of the other being, he took a slow step back. Whether it was some sort of predator, or another horse, or maybe even a human, it could mean danger or extreme danger. Ru sniffed at the air, and suddenly realized that it was another horse, which made him calm down somewhat. Stallions would have begun to shriek and carry on, so it must be a mare. And since there was no smell of leather, it wasn't a human's horse, either. All this Ru decided from smell alone. He raised his eyes to see what looked like a mirage.
It was a beautiful black filly, dark enough to have a sort of bluish tint, and this filly was spirited. It was also coming towards him, and he realized that this was his chance to start off that herd idea of his. But how to go about it? Ru suddenly realized that this part of his plans hadn't been all that well thought out, and he almost blushed as she approached. Wow, she was pretty. And- His heart almost stopped when she spoke to him. Aw, jeez. He'd fallen head over heels!
"H-h-hi, m-my name is Ru-Shiro. Who are y-you?" he stuttered, choking on a bit of water that was stuck in his mouth.

She giggled at his stammering, boys! they where a funny bunch then! She spoke, her lyrics soft and gentle "your cute! I'm Straijx. Can I call you Ru?" She tossed her black skull, trying to flick the annoyance of her black mane out of the way. She was smiling, she never normally smiled. Okay she smiled at nearly everyone but not like this before! Was this puberty? Did horses even have puberty? Well they must have felt love before. A swish of her tail changed her mind and she turned to him, like a best friend she nudged him and then said "Wanna go for a run? i beat I can beat you!" I snort lightly as a dare hinted my voice. I had bundles of energy left. And I wanted to burn half of it. Or well use it then re use until it was crumpled and old. Like her mother!
Half rearing as let her front hoofs touch the ground again. Water slipped off her black pelt as she landed upon the grass. her hoofs touching the ground. Straijx watched him, her eyes shimmering slightly as some rays of light split the clouds. She waited almost bouncing upon her heels at the idea of running.

His skin trembled as she laughed at his stammering, and she challenged him to a race. He was relieved to have a chance at some action. Maybe a bit of running would calm his nerves. Anyway, it looked like she was in a high-spirited mood. If he didn't run with her now, she might run off without him. And god knows he didn't want that to happen. So, stumbling on stiff stick-like legs, Ru-Shiro moved to stand next to the mare. Suddenly she asked him if she could call him by a pet name, and this time, he did blush. The stallion shook his mane to try and cover it up, doing his best not to stammer in reply. "S-sure. Um... can I call you Strax?" he said hopefully, swishing his tail and blushing again when it made contact with hers. "I can beat you! Just wait and see!" Ru snorted, bunching his legs and getting ready for the gallop.

Strax? She liked it! Tossing her head she grinned. Flashing her blunt fangs her eyes truly glittered " I like it" She disregard his blush. Maybe that's what all stallions did. It was a way of showing his superior? Well she would soon be crushing it "psst. readysetgo" And she was gone, the wind whistling through her mane,w here where they running to? Who cared. Her goofs faded away from her running over the fresh grass as the water pushed its way upstream. She was heading to the end, maybe it opened up? Tossing her thick black locks her hoofs started speeding up, she wanted him to catch up. At least there might be a bit of a challenge.

He whinnied joyously as she began to run, and he leaped out to run alongside her, practically at the same moment. He tore along the countryside, hooves digging small holes into the ground so he wouldn't fall over in a sharp turn, and his eyes automatically scanned the ground in front and ahead of himself, making sure nothing was going to trip him over. That was one of the greatest dangers in the high country, for a horse; slipping over meant a broken leg, and then death. His red mane flew back like flames in the cool air, and he lifted his tail in an Arabian's pose, hind legs kicking out in a buck every few steps. This was what horses were meant to do; running was their nature, and they were built for just that purpose. He had no idea where they were going, but just for fun, the stallion suddenly dug his front hooves into the dirt and just as suddenly pulled them back out again, making him slow don with a jolt, and he leapt out, this time in a different direction. The stallion called out behind him, not wanting the mare to lose him; and Ru snorted as he danced away like a blizzard, blowing from the cold South.

Strax loved that he was enjoying it, tossing her head with the free wind that stalled her face with the slightly chilling feeling. The female fell into his quick stride. Her tail dancing upon the breeze at the sensation of the speed they where going at. He turned, curious she followed, her hoofs turning diagonally to make the pace smoother from the brumby. Doing this she turfed up a whole hunk of turf, splattering her coat and she was sure that some of it trailed on Ru. The bush erupted in a ray of colours in front of the two. Dodging the trees Straix leaped over a fallen log. Looking around her eyes fell, she didn't know where Ru was. All she was was the long, and now that she looked at it, it was very big and she must of had a lot of speed behind her to have made it over.
Her eyes dimmed, where was he? She called for him, alarm creeping in her lyrics. Her blue black mane weaved through the short chirps of winds that gusted through the bush. She couldn't hear the river anymore. They must of ran a h.ell of a long way. She noticed the sheen of sweat that sugar coated her black bodice. She didn't know where she was, calling again she wanted Ru, at least he would keep her safe. Where was he? Wasn't he in front of her? Maybe he went ahead?

Ru-Shiro was full-on in a frenzy of excitement, tossing his head and snorting every few seconds as if there was a bridle that was trying to restrict his movements on his head. Because of that, the stallion had gradually drifted off to the right. He whinnied again, doing a sort of prancing leap, and looked over his shoulder at the same time. Hang on... where was Strax? Where was that pretty filly? He slowed down and finally stopped, looking towards where he had come from and a hoof raised to about knee-height. Ru let loose a massive stallion shriek, and waited for a response, hoping that there weren't any stallions nearby.

A call shuttered though the wilderness as the black female stood alone. A strong call rattled through the silence of the bush. her nerves rattled as her skin pricked, eyes flashing she reconised from the few hours she had spent with Ru that it was him calling her. He missed her! Tossing her head she reared, slicing her hoofs through the air as turned on her hocks and sprang into a canter. Leaves whirring up around her she dodged the trees, her orbs shinning eagerly to see Ru. Her tail was pulling her back and her mane was flapping nosily upon the wind. Her hoofs made a familiar pattern on the ground as she speed up and slowed from time to time, But she never stopped. hear heart pounding away wildly at her chest. Soon she stopped, looking about, his call was still lingering in the quite atmosphere. Alert ears twitched like black radars. her breathing interrupted the peace. But then she soon found her way, the river welcoming her back with a welcoming rush of noise. She came out of the bush and saw him, she was being as silent as possible then she couldn't stand it any longer. And a joke broke the atmosphere "I beat ya" A smile was placed at her lips mercy as she waited from him to turn around.
